The map DESIGN not the fucking art and themes is boring. You never get lost and feel like your in danger of running out of ammo even on hard difficulties. You never are looking through a maze for keys trying to gtfo becuase its both too easy and funnels you towards the end.

Go play turok 2 and see what a maze really is.
Go play classic doom and realize that the ending is sometimes not obvious at all and how annoying it can be to get through ceratin levels.

Level design is standard modern fps "walk a corridor till you get to arena", barely any puzzles. Music is pure shit compared to classics. Melee button that fucking does forced kill animations. Enemies dropping health, speed is overall slower, weapon designs are pretty meh (I fucking despise d44m super shotgun). It's the best of the generics but still can't compare to the classics.

it would have a redeeming factor if the levels were bigger, more enemies shooting at you from different angles (like balconies for example) and more enemies on the screen at the same time instead of just around a dozen.

for some reason, they made a great base and fucked it up with these strange limitations like small levels and small amounts of enemies.

when I played it, I always kept asking myself "why is there not more? why is this not bigger?"
