The way the vanilla campaign works just sucks. If you want to get to the interesting stuff, aka combat and sieges asap you are basically forced to join a nation which leaves you poor as fuck for a long time

Or if you want to set up your own thing you have to grind trade routes which is boring as fuck before grinding village quests to build your army

I did it once and it took so long that it took some of the satisfaction away when i finally defended my first castle and started taking some land. It just was not fun at all in the getting there

Only WoW, but I've stopped that too, I was hardcore raiding until the end of TBC, and from then on I bought each expansion under various circumstances and never even played more than a month in them.
MoP I did a month, WoD I did 2 days, Legion was maybe 5 days - not even in-game days.

Its finally dead, they've done everything in their power to make sure I cannot enjoy the game in any way shape or form.

I went onto Nostal once before its first big wipe, spent more in that than the above three combined, but dropped it too. I just can't care about it like I once did.

If you like realistic spaceflight, sure.
Just be aware that at least a few mods are pretty much required. Installing mods is simple though, and there's a pretty decent mod manager for the game, google "Kerbal CKAN".

There's a demo on Steam, but I think it's pretty far behind the current version. The game is DRM free if you're still unsure.
They announced that a paid expansion is in the works a couple months ago.

I just put 50 hours over the last 2 weeks into M&B with floris mod pack and native troops and I put the entirety of that time into building my finances by buying lots of land and setting up dyeworks and training different kinds of armies i.e. swadian knights for field battles and sharpshooters/huscarls for sieges and it was a blast, just taken my first town and castle and I basically have an inifinte supply of all kinds of rhodok troops

like always though I got bored with the game and uninstalled, but the next time I get the urge to play I'll have a save ready where I can just go and wreck shit

I will never understand how people can sink so much time into games like FO4 and GTA V, their fundamental gameplay design lacks any sense of achievement or progress, and feels so unsatisfying to me. In NV and 3 you get new gear and new stats and you feel the change; in GTA IV you can have prolonged shoot-outs and have a chance of escaping the cops, but their successors remove those personal satisfaction creators in favour of directly giving our denying the final goal. Idk it's past midnight here in probably not making much sense.

I think it is because in the end, you do it for "nothing". Roleplaying purposes, okay, but else? The game itself is too far from being finished that visiting planets outside of Kerbin's SOI is something to strive for. It's just not worth the hassle. Also, bugs can fuck things up midway through hard and then you just get angry.

I feel ya, there's something about that game that makes it so replayable

I just beat System Shock 2 so that might become my next annual go-to, but those last levels are so fucking terrible I might just stop before the Body of the Many

It's kinda turned into a thing where I play at least a few of these every year or so.
