It's actually 3 hours while playing Breath of the Wild, a full 3D game, on max brightness. The Switch has screentime on par with 3DS. They have the same amount of battery life (i.e., if you play a full 3D game on max brightness you'll only get 3 hours out of the battery). People seem to forget that children don't get their consoles until their birthdays and Christmas. The holiday season will be a bloodbath for Nintendo. PS4 and Xbone have both been out long enough that multiple Christmases have passed. The Switch won't have much competition this year, and with BOTW/MK8/Splatoon 2, and maybe ARMS if it does well enough, it'll sell quite well.

Portable game consoles shoot for 5-6 hours of battery life in general. That's the 3DS's battery life and the Vita's battery life as well. The Switch is just following what's essentially an industry standard. I suppose it's the peak battery life where it's still worth the money, and extending beyond that 5-6 hour mark is probably not worth the extra cost for a better battery.

The game runs sub 30 in almost all combat sections outside of some boss battles, and runs worse in handheld mode.

Puyo Puyo Tetris was worth every penny so far and I've not even begun to get bored. Mario Kart was a little silly to buy again. I didn't have the DLC, but most of the reason I got it again was I never owned enough controllers to setup local in any kinda comfy way. The switch I have an extra set of joycons and they work great for it. Binding of Isaac I've only played the original and am enjoying the ridiculous amount of stuff they added since then, but it was probably the least worth it at the price. FAST Racing is fun and was cheap, and World of Goo was cheap and a nice girlfriend game with it's multiplayer. Already beat Snipperclips on someone else's system, was a fun idea but desperately needed more levels to be worth a purchase for my own system.

Definitely missing out with no online and the lack of match rules, especially since all matches are 1 and done by default. Multiplayer gets intense when 2 of the 4 people each have a win and everyone steps up their A-game. How much you get out of adventure mode, characters, and customization options from the shop is generally going to come down if they like the style.
