It looked quite good, but the Crysis games were also open world, not isolated into small play areas like the 2015 example. The 2015 example is actually better visually on some levels, but the scale of its environments are tiny, with the majority of what made them look big being faked. Not actually there, not able to interact. Meanwhile in Crysis not only were the lush environments open, but interactive and reactive to your actions. You could mow down trees Predator style, or cause buildings to go flying apart with explosions.

So not only were the 2007 game's visuals nearly as good (not as good), but the scale of the environments and level of interactivity that these environments had just blows Battlefront out of the water.

It does run somewhat better now than at launch but part of the reason why is that they've been silently downgrading the games visuals, theres a lot less lighting near hub areas, especially the first city area in the game. (although you won't notice whats gone unless you've find screencaps of older versions of the game)

FACT the majority of games nowadays use prebaked lighting, unreal engine 4 or Unity don't even allow for realtime global illumination, everything is baked meaning everything MUST be static except for characters or other small objects, so in the end its all a pretty picture static picture and nothing more.

W3 will never look good unless a mod comes that adds shadow to grass. It looks like a muddy mess in almost every screenshot.
Also, when you make the entire map forest, you got to get it right. Horizon has a bunch of different biomes that all look better than W3s world, though. It's a shame it's on PS4 so the fog could be pushed back further.

Have a PC for 8 years or so.. got myself a PS4 - and I must say Uncharted and HZD, look fucking amazing.

It kinda makes sense since it's a card designed for 2k and more.

Tbh the 1070 is a complete beast and the best card one can purchase atm. Obliterates 1080p, destroys 99.99% of games at 1440p and runs easily a bit older/less intensive games at 4k. Everything maxxed out 60fps of course.

Either modded, downscaled for no aliasing or just taken in spots where you don't see the low res textures and assets and have a few godrays.

At some places Crysis is astonishing, and in other it just looks nice with outdated low poly rocks. But desu, Crysis 1 still has the best looking water in gaming's history. Even Crysis 2 and 3 water look like mud compared to 1. Seriously, I want to rub my dick on the water.

I haven't really been that impressed with ROTR's graphics. I played it on Xbone at launch and picked it up again on PC during a sale. It's definitely better looking than it was but I honestly thought Uncharted 4 looked better despite only being 30fps, vs 60 on my PC at max settings.

I think part of the problem is ROTR was actually designed to run on the 360, the 360 version actually holds up too well.
