Pokemon historically sticks to the older hardware as long as it can get away with it due to having a higher install base, and the 3DS is still being supported at least to the end of this year considering given how many games are announced for it and unannounced games getting leaked. Also, Nintendo has mentioned potentially making a 3DS successor earlier this year, and if they commit to that idea then Pokemon is totally going to stick to the cheaper hardware.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pokemon ended up on Switch but it's a bit too early to call it confirmed.

Also reminder that Nintendo ripped you off and charged you a stupid tax if you bought a Switch. It's technically worse hardware performance than a PS3, about half the Wii U. The only benefit is has is vulkan support which means they can keep the same performance ceiling as Wii U with much weaker hardware: the stupid tax being you're paying for Vulkan more than you're paying for actually better hardware.

Nintendo is pulling the wool over your eyes leading you to believe the switch is a super advanced handheld, when in reality is considerably worse and cheaper tech than was in the Wii U, with Vulkan doing all the work in making up for it. Truth be told, the same exact shit that is already in the Switch could perform 3x better if Nintendo didn't underclock basically every facet of the stock Tegra X1 they've dropped into it.

Any other next gen successor console would be better everything: more ram, faster cpu, better gpu, this that and the other, and with all this new better stuff you pay a new higher price to purchase. Switch on the other hand is worse cpu, worse gpu, less features than the Wii U, but with the new higher price - Nintendo banking on your misunderstanding of what the emerging Vulkan means for the entire vidya industry.

The switch is underpowered and over priced for what it is, taking advantage of the market by being the first console device to support Vulkan, hoping you'll mistake the evident performance gains for Switch games as truly powerful next gen hardware worth the price of admission.

The switch will crash harder than the Wii U did.

I bought a Switch on Friday. There were about 25 of them piled up on the counter behind customer service. I'm not sure what came over me (I already have a Wii U so it doesn't have any games I haven't already played), but I just felt this impulse "buy one, buy one!" the moment I saw one

MK8 looks pretty nice in 1080p tbqh. But overall the build quality is terrible. The joycons feel cheap like they'll probably break after a few months, especially the shoulder buttons feel like they might just rip right off if you press them slightly angled. Everything also doesn't slide together nicely like they make it seem like in the commercials. They probably sprayed WD40 on that shit, because the real thing is has a lot of friction and it's hard to take apart/put back together. I think this has to do with the fact that the joycon edges should be metal like the rails are but they're plastic instead.

Anyway, I'm getting serious buyer's remorse and I'll probably end up returning it. Right now the games that really interest me are Odyssey, Xeno 2 and Octopath, so it will be collecting dust for 6 months before I can even use it

Unless it's a Dragon Quest XI PS4/3DS kind of deal, it doesn't make sense since GF is recruiting to create new models in HD quality. If anything, the game would be created for the Switch and downported to the 3DS, which seems cumbersome, especially for shit programmers like them.

i'm just pessimistic because nintendo is stupid, the switch really did have potential, but they underpowered it, still managed to overprice it, and they're still going to likely have the same 3rd party problems they had before

they also released at basically the mid-end of the generation, so new sony/microsoft releases are probably not that many years into the future, and the power gap could only grow, which would only further decrease third party potential, on top of potentially risking one of them to also give a try at the handheld console type thing, but doing it better somehow

Pokémon XY came out almost two years after the 3DS was released. Hell, Pokémon Black and White came out a few months before the 3DS's release in Japan and alongside it in the West, while Black and White 2 came out well into the 3DS's lifespan. It still turned out really successful.

And as a handheld, it does not target the same market nor will it get the same (mostly Western) third-party games are Sony and Microsoft. I would buy a switch if it wasn't so cheaply constructed and priced like a console. My brother has one and I've had a go on it... it just feels cheap. The kickstand feels flimsy, the screen cover is plastic (not acceptable these days) the dock is just cheap extruded plastic with no protection for the screen, the click controllers wobble when on the console, the gamepad is too small for my hands (more a personal thing) and it disconnects randomly when I'm on the couch which is only a few feet from the TV. If they fix most these things (despite the controller being small, that's just my hands) then I'll buy one.
