Uninstall and play a different game. This is coming from a guy that plays a shitload of FFXIV and has a raiding static. I'm not even really having fun right now while playing and am basically waiting for Stormblood to do it all over again.

The most fun part is when a new expansion comes out and being at the forefront of content with all your buddies. Which also means if you have a life like me and fall behind at all, you're basically playing a lesser version of the game because fights are designed with people playing it as soon as it comes out.

My best advice: no not treat this like a WoW-style MMO. This game in no way caters to people who just want to do a loot treadmill.

Treat the game like you would a single player final fantasy game, that just so happens to have other people playing it. If you don't enjoy the story, all the cutscenes, the random mini-games and socializing, this probably won't be for you. Glamour is the true endgame.

Take your time doing stuff. If you try to just grind to max level, you are going to have a bad time. The game is not set up for that in any way. You are going to have to do the mainquest and complete everything just to get into heavensward. This includes the original MQ, and then all the patches. So at lvl 50 you will be doing a ton of stuff.

Basically, the urgent sense of "rushing" that dominates other MMOs, it will serve you poorly here.

Just buy the standard game for now. You won't even be at Heavensward before Stormblood release anyway. And all the Heavensward content is locked behind the story. Rogue/Ninja is in the base game, but you can't choose it as a starter class. Pick Marauder or Arcanist as your starter so you can be placed in Limsa Lominsa, then go unlock Rogue at level 10.

v1.23 was excellent and everyone was excited to see what they could build off of it.

Instead they wiped all their progress and served up a 1:1 WoW clones set in FF land

leveling as a scholar is easy mode, both for story and dungeons. healers are generally easy to play and can dps in quests/other shit too. scholar comes with the bonus of leveling summoner as well so you get a free pure dps class on top of it.

Monk and Ninja are a lot of fun, but makes casuals cry after lvl 50.

that would totally destroy every aspect of a Summoner is. It's a class made to stack with pet commands. If they were to implement cool designed pet, then they will have resize the monster too, which making it even worse compare to the current egi. I've been considering re-buying and trying FF14 again.

I played at Launch, up until Twintania. I enjoyed it. Was in a world top ~10 or so progression guild working on Twintania / first few levels of coil when it was new. The raid content was good.

I enjoyed the game, but inevitable guild drama decimated my static and I lost all interest. I've seen it survive and succeed.

is it worth revisiting? Or is it going through the stages of inevitable MMO decay?

I saw through the area exploration spoiler before it got taken down, it was pretty nice. I think they handled the "eastern" world building part in a major western themed game well. It didn't completely awkward like it was in Wow with talking Panda, but the aesthetic alone fit right in without feeling too forced.

I've finally settled into only playing healer. It's the best class because you get the most involvement and choice in what you're doing.

But honestly though why is white mage so fucking boring? AST is my main, SCH second because I'm not as confident with it (and AST's buffs make it more fun), but WHM is such a fucking drag to play as.

Every other healing class has it's sort of niche in their working. WHM doesn't. All it is is just pure healing. Yes it had some cool dps abilities, but nothing that can even come close to what SCH and AST (save for Assize, that's a pretty damn cool and useful attack).

Currently I've got it at lol 53 but damn is it slow in its coming. I'm almost wanting to just wait for the expac to see if there may be better ways in leveling.
