4 has the redeemable quality of having a very combo heavy chip library.

5 would be better if they didn't fucking limit codes so much in the game. Codes just didn't have proper support in my opinion. They were always lacking 3-4 chips in a specific code type to be perfect. It would have made liberation mission so much better if they understood that.

Also A-Z code is a bit of a mistake. Codes would work better if they didn't have so much variety and narrowing stuff down.

Chips that combo into one another are awesome, like using tornado on a deployed airspinner in 6. There needed to be more interactions like that to make the games innovative.

I always wanted to see a rhythm game style boss. I imagined something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fllyJTBsRU playing and attacks happening to the beat. There would be a number of difficulties that just increased the number of layers or voices used for attacks and then a 'final' difficulty where the boss was invincible and you just had to survive to the end.

Holy shit, the Navi Customizer was nothing compare to the shit you could do with e-Reader cards. If you could think of it, you could probably customize Megaman to do it.
Hell, in 4 you could even customize the UI.

And then there was the Battle Chip Gate. Makes fights play out the way the game describes them rather than you controlling Megaman directly.
Not as cool as e-Reader customization, but still neat.

The sword chip hits all enemies who are standing on irregular panels. He uses that to grab full-sync, which doubles the power of the mach-gun chip. The mach-gun chip also does double damage to Dustman, since it's an Aim chip, so between that and the full sync it does a fuckton of damage. So how many MM-related fan projects are still alive and in dev?

There used to be a few MMBN7 wannabes that sprung up shortly after the end of MMBN6 but I haven't kept tabs on most of them. The biggest one was the one that The Undersquare fags wanted to build hype for but apparently it died shortly after they published their script for the intro cinematic. There were like, two others I think vying for a MMBN7 spot.

Then there was this Japanese MML3 project that I saw some gameplay trailers for, that one seemed like it had the most promise.

Oh cool a BN thread. I was honestly thinking the other day that BN4 isn't that bad when you get into the nitty gritty of its mechanics. It's the only game in the series that encourages comboing, being nowhere near as broken as the previous three games while also not limiting chip options so much like BN5 does (although AirHoc does get pretty broken for PvE.) I found removing chips to make things more combo centric to be a better way of balancing than just limiting program advances that 6 does since it encourages both player skill and creativity. Also love how many of the bosses had an interesting gimmick; Burnerman's torches that move back and forth, Videoman's tape reels, Sparkman's invincibility most of the time, hell this kind of spreads to a lot of the normal viruses as well who all had gimmicks that you had to find ways to circumvent. Kinda mad though that the english version doesn't have the Bass XX fight that's only in BN5.
