I like watching runs of old childhood games that I already played to death, just to see how different a speedrun can look. You get the enjoyment of playing it casually AND the enjoyment of pushing it to its limits.

But I agree with you about how most speedrunners nowdays just look for games to run that are easy and have unoptimized world records so they can feel good for holding the record for a month.
