Don't know about you, but you try spamming projectilesi n Guilty Gear for more than 1 second and you're going to get corner carried and 50% of your health taken away. Every game has a different niche and crowd. SF rewards very patient gameplay, fireball spamming will get eliminated quick versus actual competent opponents. It's quite fine if you prefer Tekken, but I don't think 3D fighters are superior at all. More likely to be on par considering 3D fighters require a lot of self control.

There's nothing to admit, it is true. Fireballs force a reaction. Blocking them has minor consequence. They generate pressure. They do this regardless of the level of play.

3D fighters generate pressure at low levels with deceptively safe strings forcing reactions out of noobs. After that it's just that there's simply too much going on for any mere mortal to react to consistently.

2D fighters allow you to get far closer to a state of perfect play, but it's a matter of preference.

I can't really defend SF well because to be honest the game is a balance mess right now, but realy projectile spamming isn't really very good on it, let me explain.

While they are rewarding (build meter, punish dash spamming, fast recovery) if your opponent starts spamming you will begin to expect it, so givewn you time it correctly, you will be able to jump in and punish on time. If you don't you will usually get DPed or AA jabbed. Also I don't know if you noticed but both characters in the Capcom Cup that were finalists don't fireball spam. Mika has none and Chun has a mediocre one that only works as a decent zoning tool if you EX it. Add to this that most characters have a built in way to deal with fireballs (Gief Lariat, Bison V Skill, Nash V Skill, othr Fireballs, invincible moves, moves that straight up eat fireballs life Giefs headbutt, invincible supers) and fireballs start being underwhleming at high level. Season 2 is now nerfing fireballs to be even less rewarding now too. I still think SF is a mess and needs more straigthening out, but really, fireballs are not really a problem on it. I can give you SF2 though.

Tekken 3, TT, DoA and a handful of other 3D fighters are fun to watch. Skullgrils, Melee, Third Strike and lots of other 2D fighters are fun to play/watch. I did specify Third Strike parries and I don't see how they're low risk. If I get ballsy and try to parry a super and fuck it up, I get my shit pushed in.

Mind you I'm not by any means a competitive player or anything special. Probably below average player who enjoys playing one or two fighting games. So long as I'm not getting double perfected and killed with a taunt at the end of each round I tend to enjoy matches. Funnily enough I was into Street Fighter 4 and had never touched 3rd Strike until the Online Edition had released.

It's a slow moving projectile with a giant hitbox on a 2d grid, compare that to shooting a rocket in 3 dimensions with velocity inheritance from a position moving in 3 dimensions against a target moving in 3 dimension, all 3 of which have crazy velocities, tiny hitboxes and are at huge distances apart in elaborate maps in quake and it makes streetfighter's fireball spam look like a fucking joke by comparison, and I would still categorize all of that shit put together into just "aim"

You don't aim the rocket by shooting it from a particular spot of the map.
