Memes aside does this look it's worth $60?
>>
>>324222468
I remember buying that same fightstick for around $20 to see if i would like it as much as playing on pad. I didn't. Its a madcatz fightstick for what thats worth.
>>
>>324222468
Not really because if you actually find out you enjoy fighting games enough to care your going to want to spend the money upgrading it with better parts when you could just get a decent stick for an extra 40-80$
>>
>>324222653
So what should I get, I have limited options since I'm from nz
>>
Why would they put a shit kicker like Triple H on there? The Rock was always second fiddle, so fuck him off too. Should have put Austin on it and either Hogan or Orndorff.
>>
>>324222468
Buy hitbox instead. Stick is inferior meme controller.
>>
>>324223817
Never watched wrestling, but Triple H had the coolest song though. But what exactly makes a good fightstick so I can avoid making these shit threads every day. Or do you just kinda know from experience what would feel good and what wouldn't
>>
Do you not own a DS3 or 4 or something
>>
>>324222468
Buy a used higher tier stick.

There must be a fuckzillion cheap TEs on the market now that everybody is switching onto the PS4.
>>
>>324224139
You talking about a dualshock controller son? I've got them both but fightsticks just feel really good to me, and I love they sound they make

>>324224213
The only resale site that I know of in nz only has used shit tier sticks and overpriced trash

>>
>>324224103
>>324224446
Probably replying to bait here but that shit looks so uncomfortable and awkward why would you want it? Is it for people that have trouble with inputs?
>>
>>324224295
I remember you from the thread yesterday.

If you really cant find anything else at a reasonable price I guess you could go for this one.

This used to be the budget stick for everybody back then.
People bought it, threw away the buttons and sticks and got some proper ones, as modding it seems easy.
Dunno how good the stock buttons on this one are.

Are there any places that sell stick parts in NZ?

>>324224535
Hitboxes are one huge meme.

Exactly how? You don't even move your hand with it, just tap buttons. Dashes, IADs, dp, hcf is much faster and precise with it. Plus you don't spend nearly as much time getting used to it as you do with stick.
>>
>>324224726
I want one of these pretty damn bad. I play fightan on a keyboard as it is, so it'd be pretty sweet to have one of these for console fightan
>>
>>324223678
If you're in NZ you might be fucked on price best bet is try a local facebook craigslist or whatever find somoene selling a 2nd hand stick in the NZ/AU area
>>
>>324224637
Sticks and buttons are relatively easy to find on trademe, so I think I might break and get this one if it's easy to mod

Not OP, but was looking at getting into SF and getting a fightstick soon, is $100 for a Hori VX SA a good deal?
>>
>>324224132

OP, no BS, what makes a fightstick good or not depends mostly on the stick and buttons themselves.

By this I mean any stick with authentic Sanwa or Seimitsu parts is a quality stick that will last basically forever.

The one you posted in the OP has shit Madcatz parts. Madcatz sticks ARE great, but only if you're buying the Tournament Edition sticks, because like I said above, they use Sanwa sticks and buttons, Madcatz just makes the PCBs and the case.

Your best option is to either get one of those, or get the one you posted and swap the buttons and stick out yourself with either Sanwa or Seimitsu parts you can buy online.
>>
>>324224726

Hitboxes are the Fedora of fightsticks. Perfectly functional, but you're a fucking queermo if you use one.
>>
>>324224938
Look up a modding tutorial for this WWE stick and see if you can handle it.

If you can and if you really cant find anything better for a decent price then I'd go for it.
>>
>>324225054

Also the OP stick is much lighter and smaller than a TE, and is more prone to sliding around. Could always install weights or something I guess though.
>>
sticks are a meme. stop wasting money
>>
>>324222468
Why the fuck is Mad Catz still a company.

So I should probably just stick with my chinese fightstick for now until I can get some quality shit yeah? Pic related is my current one, and the diagonal inputs are super awkward
>>
>>324225435
That's why you buy a hitbox.
>>
>>324222653
>gamer gear
>>
>>324225154
Stick users just mad that now people can do exact same inputs but easier and without years of practice.
>>
>>324224726
As a MK player, I always wanted one.
It's perfect for that game, but I also play everything else on the side, and I don't think I would like it for SF or Tekken, or even anime.
>>
>>324222468

I have this one. It's okay. I bought it for WWE All Stars and I don't play Street Fighter or anything. But I imagine those guys would say this is a lower-tier stick. You should probably get a better one. Though that one is okay if you use it for emulation.
>>
>>324225534
Pretty much maybe look into modding your current stick if you want buttons + stick should only cost 50 (in the US not sure about NZ) and you can always use them in another stick down the road
>>
>>324225867

If it's your first stick and you don't plan on playing games on PS4, it's a good choice if you plan to mod it. Out of the box mine came with 2 busted buttons. I put seimetsu buttons and a sanwa joystick in it. Pic related.
>>
>>324222468
There is a stick buying guide on the SRK tech forum you should check out.

Yeah if you're fucking dyslexic. I got used to stick in under a week.
>>

I never played fighting games or played on a stick before getting AE on PC took me 40~ hours of casual play not to suck at DP's my fingers were too retarded to do FADC shit consistently for months
>>

Sick i'll check that out

>>324226110
Is that blazblue, looks cash

>>324226071
Can't believe I actuall didn't think of this, how hard is it to change gates on these? I've always wanted to see how other gates felt, I've currently got square gate
>>
>>324226430
Depends on the stick in your stick easy to change gates on a JLF just pop in and pop out
>>
>>324226430
Yeah, it's blazblue. The graphics are rips from the arcade ver. Everything was printed out on a "Lami-Label" at Kinkos
>>
The Kuro sticks in my opinion are better than Sanwa sticks, but the Kuro buttons are eh.
>>
>>324226617
Sick I'll start shopping for sticks, feels good to actually have a plan now
>>
>>324226430

Square gate is best gate tbqh. Unless you're playing Tekken, I think those weird fuckers use circle gates or some shit (the few who don't play on pad anyway).

Honestly though you should work on not hitting the gate at all. Since it's a digital input, smaller movements = less travel time = faster and more precise inputs in general.
>>
>Making art for stick
>keep adding/removing shit because I keep thinking it's never finished
Fuck
>>
>>324227063
That's actually a pretty helpful tip, how do I get out of that habit and relax my body, or is it just a matter of practice and chilling out?
>>
>>324227063
nah son.

Circle gates is where its at. arcade machines use circle gate.
>>
Now that I'm looking at the stick and wires it's pretty intimidating, It's not that hard to put it all together right?

Well in the words of the ever-wise Gootecks, pretend you're a tiny Asian boy playing Street Fighter at 3 in the morning on a school night, and if you're too noisy with the stick you're gonna wake up your Mom and she's gonna beat that ass.

No it doesn't look that good desu.
If you're on a budget or don't want to spend a lot of money on a fightstick, then get this one once it comes out
http://store.madcatz.com/categories/fightsticks-category/Street-Fighter-5-Arcade-FightStick-Alpha-for-PS4-PS3.html

If you're serious about fightan and don't care about the price and want the ability to change parts out later if you want, then get this one http://store.madcatz.com/categories/fightsticks-category/Mad-Catz-Arcade-FightStick-Tournament-Edition-2-for-PS4-PS3.html

These can also be used on PC.
>>
>>324227703
It's literally plug and play in the case of buttons. Stick is just a swap and a plug as well. The only "hard" modding comes when you want to switch PCB's which just requires super basic soldering.
>>
>>324227703

All those wires are already installed in your stick Anon. Just unplug them, and then make sure you don't mix up the colors when you're reversing the process. And most sticks these days use quick disconnects anyway, so it's literally just sliding them on and off of the tabs on the buttons / stick.

It's super easy.
>>
>>324227954
>>324227970
Sweet, panicked there for a moment since I'm shit with diy. Thanks anons
>>
>>324227913
He could also get an HRAP for something a good deal cheaper than a TE2, but more than a "budget" stick.
>>
>>324228097
>>324227913
I decided to just mod out my current stick since the buttons are fine from what I know, and it doesn't seem hard. Thanks regardless though
>>
>>324222468
I have had one for at least three years now, and all I've had to do to it was replace the buttons for about twenty bucks. You might want to replace the stick too, but I haven't. It didn't go bad on me and it's not shit. The buttons are really the weakest point.
>>
>>324225534
what is the name of that chinese fightstick?
>>
Is this a good choice? I am on the fence of getting it. I want a stick with good parts in it and it needs to work on PC. However I also have a ps4 so it needs to work on both.

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00RZ7T8N6
>>
>>324228268
I bought an HRAP 4 the other day for $100, it's a pretty "standard" high end stick but that also means that it's pretty damn good. It uses different buttons/sticks than Madcatz TE's, and the buttons are actually highly sensitive. I prefer the stick though and buttons are only $2-3 a pop to change. Very much worth it. It's also roomy as fuck.
>>
Anyone here use silent buttons? Was thinking of picking some up.

>>324228268

I use the kai, it's fine. People were complaining about kuro buttons but I don't think they are that bad, just feel kinda weird.
>>
>>324228268
Hori RAP is always a solid choice. Take the shot.
>>
>>324228230
The writing say "Futuresky Joystick-MH-6" then some gook shit but there's a website too and a listing on trademe if you just search arcade stick
The website is "www.Yaogan.com"
>>
Ive been thinking of getting an arcade stick ever since i got into skullgirls. i use a DS3 right now but still have trouble with DP's.

was looking at this one

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/28551/mad-catz-sxt-cross-arcade-fightstick-pro-ps3

it says it uses sanwa buttons and stick. what do you think /v/? im a little bummed that it wont work on ps4, but im planning to be playing SFV on PC anyway.
>>
>>324222468
I bought this. Stock parts are fucking GARBAGE, but it's easily upgradable with JP arcade parts, which makes it fantastic and indestructible. Use focusattack.com.
>>
>>324228805
If you plan to play SFV at local tourneys, you should really get a PS4 stick. If you are tech savvy, you can make one yourself for pretty cheap now. If you don't want a PS4 stick, that one works fine, but 130 is too expensive. You can easily buy a good condition used on ebay these days because people are switching to PS4

>>
>>324224726
How do you do Guile or Vega's diagonal input ultras with this?
>>
>>324229387
Every direction is a button.

If it was a keyboard it would be ASD+Space for movement

AS for the charge, SD, AS, A+Space punch.

I use photoshop since that's what I learned to use in highschool. I've always wanted to try out gimp though so I don't have to go through the hassle of pirating PS. Is it good? I'm not exactly professional level, but I do need a full-featured program. Paint with some extra bells and whistles ain't gonna cut it. (Not saying that's what Gimp is, since I haven't really looked at it. Just in general.)
>>
Every time you ask yourself if it's a good stick, go check the chart on input lag. It's a very important resource, you don't want a shitty stick.

>>
>>324233047

>>
>>324232862

Both. You don't want shit buttons sticking or not registering your inputs or wearing out on you.

Also different buttons have different travel and clickiness and some people prefer some over others.
>>
>>324228268

i use it. It's decent but don't use it in ps3 mode because it has over a full frame of lag.

its most of the time cheaper to buy a cheap stick and mod them later with good parts. That gives a base and pcb to work with, and you can get good sanwa parts of the colour you like.

I had a cheap mayflash and did exactly what I described above. First I played till the "normal" buttons broke down after a few months and changed them with sanwa parts. These I have for years now and still work just as new.

Thats not even going into the whole customize and art shit. (I dont care I just left mine default except the red button instead of black)
>>
A fightstick's quality is less about the unit and more about what brand parts they use. If the stick uses genuine sanwa denshi or seimitsu parts then it's fine. If not, then don't waste your money.
>>
>>324232990
I use Gimp and it's fine, but it's missing some professional features. Then again I only got gimp a month ago.
