I built my first computer last month.
I knew absolutely fucking nothing about hardware when I started.
I ran into a few issues installing and updating Windows, as well as getting some older games running, but they were all manageable.

I still havent replaced my stock Intel cooler because I'm afraid of fucking something up with the install of a new one, especially because I dont want to remove my motherboard from the tower to do it, I'm afraid I'll use too little or too much thermal paste, I'm afraid of static electricity and dont know how if just touching the metal case while not wearing socks with the PC on the wood floor, if thats enough because I'm really afraid of damaging a component and then I can say goodbye because I dont have the spare money to replace it.

Building and maintaining your own PC is a lot more stressful to a poorfag because you fuck something up and then you know you cant replace it for a long while, and you dread touching your inner PC parts again even when removing dust because you get worried about static electricity fucking your parts up, touching the wrong place on your mobo etc...

Luckily I managed to bring my temps down by reducing the ridiculous 3.60x overclock on my i5 3470 to 3.30x which brought gaming temps on full load down from 70c to 59-60c.

I did a couple stupid things when building my computer. I forgot to put in the I/O shield first, and when I screwed in the mobo wrong. I panicked over how to connect different wires in the case to the mobo, and where to connect the fans.

Honestly though even if you do stupid shit like me you will end up fine. It took me much longer to build than a normal person but I never fucked up any pieces even with all my mistakes. Just don't do anything that could obviously fuck up a part.
