You are not forced to play online to increase HR, you need to do Guild (Called Gathering Hall in 4U) Quests which are scaled for multiplayer but they are completely doable solo if you are decently well equipped for the rank and you know the monster. Anyway I suggest doing most, if not all, of the caravan singleplayer content first.

It's one of the new weapons this gen, so lots of people are using it because it's new and interesting. Naturally lots of shit players migrated to it as well and that can paint a lot of peoples views of the weapon as negative.

You'll be alright, just remember the triple pound combo does the best damage for a hammer. Make a new hammer when you feel like things are getting too hard.

Well you can only keep getting better. Different monsters have different attacks and until you know what those attacks are and how to handle them it can be a bit rough. Just stick with it, keep making new weapons and armor. Since you're new I'd recommend sticking with full armor sets as skills in this game only activate when they have enough points in them, which most full sets provide in spades.

Truthfuly, just upgrade the hammer/make new weapons, and upgrade or make new armor. It's a fairly simple solution.
In terms of actually fighting things, just use one or two fights as a training experience, learning the monster's attacks and movements. After taking a bit to learn how they operate, you'll be good enough to figure out which attack they'll do, and how to dodge/counter it.

Reminder that GS is the king and only weapon worth using. HBG and IG can rarely fulfill a niche.

I pretty much don't have as much time as i used to so i didn't want two weapon classes.

I picked up charge blade. Had alot of fun on the run i did in the demo. Stuck with it.

I like shield weapons the most. Favorite weapon ever in MH for me has always been lance. So having a shield is a + for me right there. and being able to turn into a hammer like weapon was just interesting enough to keep me in.

Just started playing, I can tell this game has so much shit to do it will take me hundreds of hours. How long did it take you to get good? It takes me at least 10 minutes to kill most large monsters, and I'll often get carted at least once.

I've played every game I can get since Freedom 2, so let me assure you that it only takes about 30 hours to learn everything about a weapon, probably less for similar weapons after the first.

Try out everything in training, but stick with Charge Blade if you're already proficient with it.

Anyone got any cool sets they'd like to share? I just made a bow set with the Enraged Dalamadur and full Lagi X amor that has:

>rapid up
>bombardier(I have status down with this, but when I feel like using status, I can swap it out for a disabler gem)

>divine protection


For those of you who aren't familiar with this bow, it has 372 raw, 170 blast with awaken, 3 slots, and gives you +45 defense. Lv 1 spread 3, lv 2 is spread 4, lv 3 is pierce 5, and it has a natural lv 4 charge with rapid 5. The only problem is that it can't use power coat normally, but it has every other coat bar blast(but who cares, it's a blast bow) with a coating boost to para.

Very strong bow overall. It's definitely up there with the Steve, Molten Tigrex, and Akantor bows.

Can someone exain skill points in 4U? New to the series, and they do a pretty shit job of explaining that

Each skill needs at least 10 points in ether positive or negative to activate. Positive points make good abilities, while negative ones are bad.

Take my bow set for example. Say I have 10 points into bombardier and -10 into status. If I removed a +2 bombardier gem and replaced it with a +1 disabler gem, I have 8 points intp bombardier and -9 points into status. I don't have bombardier, but I don't have status down anymore.

Also, certain skills like attack have different tiers in both directions. Attack has levels at 10, 15, 20, and 25 points, while also having the same levels on the negative side.

Aerial LBG is pretty interesting. It's probably the only time you will ever use normal 1 on a monster

Specifically, how do they judge a weapon to be overpowered?

Has the basics with Focus, Rapid Up, and Weakness Exploit and provides good support, especially with Para boost. Seems to have a jack-of-all-trades thing going on but is ultimately outclassed in its individual purposes by other bows. If you're moving through G rank it's perfectly fine but you'll want to move on to something that'll last you into the endgame eventually.

If there is one thing I can say positive about the Outraged mechanic, at least it gives monsters some new patterns. Outraged Tigrex in particular has a specific combo that ends in a turn-around boulder push it does regardless of if the part is infected. It also baits with the fake-out charge much more often

The entire reason the weapon is so godly is because of the fact that it doesn't need S+1 or Razor to maintain that giant white, and Bounding at white has roughly the same DPS output of Hellruin at purple. With the lack of S+1 and Razor you can make sets you would not be able to make with Hellruin like AuXL, Challenger+2, Weakness Exploit, HG Earplugs and Tremor Resist. Sorry for the autism, I just want people to understand what makes Bounding so special.

Status is always welcome. Blast is great for breaking parts while doubling as fixed damage. Exhaust boosted coatings have neat KO's on the side too.

If I wanted to spam vanilla normal ranged attacks, I would use the Livid Griscannon. And even then I would much rather cut my time in half with Destiny's Arm.

I think part of the problem is that all the lances I'm using are rank 5 or 6 right now and I need some later G-Rank materials to upgrade them (almost there) while I'm running around with a Cheda Blade for my greatsword with a pretty good clownsuit I managed to bullshit up thanks to a good Focus charm.

Maybe I should try making a new Lance clownsuit now that I've got all of HR and some of G-Rank done, see if I can squeeze Sharpness +1 in there this time instead of Razor Sharp.

Pierce on a bow is decent against Gogmazios and other giant monsters that'll let you get all the hits, but with Weakness Exploit on a rapid bow basically everything that doesn't outright nullify rapid shots is weaker to just getting shot in the face or other 45+ zone. Focus, Load Up, Rapid Up, and Weakness Exploit can be put together in an armor set with any trash charm that has 3 slots, and with only those skills it already outdamages other bows almost all the time if you're any good at aiming. I don't personally care too much if you're not using it but the Kama Sedition is clearly an anomaly among craftable bows with how strong it is outside of situations involving extreme elemental weakness (Chameleos, Gravios, etc.).

Besides, Genie's Grimoire is the most fun bow in the game.

Lances comes to guard lancing or evade lancing from my experience.

Counter Lancing a monster's attacks and having teammates follow up from the sides rarely gets old.

Evade Lancing is probably where I'm put on the edge of my seat since I'm back hopping through attacks like a madman and getting off effective hits.

Once you get into the flow of it Lancing is pretty damn fun. Something about counter lancing a fireball that normally ruins your day feels fantastic.

It was a little daunting but just start with easy monsters and learn the mechanics of the weapon.

I went through Guard Lancing to get the feel of it and moved through the moveset. I'm hardly the best but I can hunt reliably without many issues. Though I'd imagine getting off the IG's attack style would be hard.

You'd be shocked how stuff like forward guards and counter lancing monster roars can put you in ideal positions.

Which electric Lances are better, the Rajang or Zinogre line?

I use Courageous Wish for Blast since it's a rapid bow with all the good damage stuff already on it so I can jam in more damage skills on my armor set. Those skills plus the bow's power shot makes up for the relatively low raw it has in comparison to other Blast bows.

You don't really need focus on a bow with only 3 levels. You're much better off going for something like peak performance.

Incidentally, Zinogre Z was practically made for the Akantor Chaos Bow.
