i have this as a HD version on PS3.
it was pretty fun for the 3 or so hours i played.
i didn't like how fast it went from normal zombies to advanced mutatest monsters.
but then again i didn't play all the RE games before it and i imagine that diehard fans would have been bored with the game mostly being normal zombies.
Oh well i might pick it up some day again.
i only ever finished RE5, RE6, REmake HD, RE4 in that order.
RE0 HD looks kinda meh, really excited for REmake 2 though

well i heard REmake is better than normal RE.
so i assume it's going to be the same with REmake 2.
if RE2HD sucks ass i can still go back to the original.
but if i played RE2 now then i probably wouldn't want to replay it so soon.
playing old RE gives me fucking sweaty palms and heart racing, it was hard enough for me to finish REmake HD (in retrospect it wasn't that bad and a really good game.
Also i'm not baiting.
RE4 i bought originally when it came to the wii and since rebought it 5 times on different platforms, it took me until last year to actually finish it on PC HD steam edition.
also i played rev 1 and 2 as well, forgot about those.

You do understand that RE1 and REmake have exactly the same gameplay? If anything, controls are a bit more responsive in the original game? Original game with its own two scenarios and multitude of endings? Why would you intentionally miss out on the experience with its own original experience?

Again me and my friend played it while talking about it for a week and we kept pushing each other further, otherwise i probably wouldn't have finished it.
I understand that all these RE games are probably really really great but for me personally they are not that fun to play because i feel afraid.
afraid of jumpscares, afraid of killing zombies so they come back even stronger, afraid of using ammo, afraid of having to backtrack because i forgot an item in the chest. and so on...
the series isn't for me but i had to see the best ones through.
Same thing with silent hill where i own most of the games however only ever finished Silent Hill 2 in 2013

RE1 is one of my favorite games. There's something so well-crafted about all of it. It has a quick pace, is atmospheric, has the most memorable lines (for good or ill), and is fun to speed-run

RE2 and 3 are great too (2 is everything a sequel should be), but if the original trilogy it's the first I end up playing for shits and giggles.

No tank controls. If you push left character doesnt rotate to the left but he instead moves to the left side of the screen, left from the players perspective. You can imagine the issues since it first and foremost breaks the game since that alternative movemenet is so retarderdly fast that dodging is a fucking joke now. Plus there are issues when screens change and you keep running in the same direction.

Play RE1 first. REmake was designed with players who played RE1 first so it intentionally screws with you counting things being the same, you will miss out otherwise.

Play all of them until 4. Skip 5, 6, Chronicles games and Outbreak games.

Dont skip on Dead Aim and Survivor. Sip Code Veronica Gun Survivor (not to be mistaken with regular Code Veronica X)

Start with REmake HD, if you liked that then go play the original or go straight to 2, then 3 and CVX, then 0.

Then you can get into the action shooter ones. Play 4, 5, and 6, then Rev1 and Rev2.

Skip all survivor games and ORC. Play Outbreak if you want (I haven't played it cause I want to experience the online so no emulation), the chronicles games are fine too.

Rev 1 is fine the only things that suck are:

>the bits that weren't on the ship and were very focused on action
Rev 2 is in fact pretty mediocre but it's not activly bad and very playable. However raid mode is the fucking shit and worth the price alone.

I don't agree.
I personally DID start with RE1 back in 90s, and played them all in the release order as they came out, but I simply wouldn't put a total rookie play the original RE1 anymore.

One bud of mine was a total RESI-virgin up until last month, when I got him interested in the series with REmake HD. Total pussy at times, but in the end he fell in love with it, and played it 4 times in a row. I did him a service and played RE1:DC (non-Dual Shock), and while it was clearly an interesting comparison ride, he did admit that he'd probably not gotten into the whole thing had he started with the original.

He started RE2 just recently though. The change of pacing caught him off guard at first.
