The main appeal of the game is going into it with no hype or expectations, so having one big release date for every console would probably just hinder it.

Besides, there'd be no point in making a console release unless they improved the sprites and overall look of the game.

I don't get why some people around here are praising Undertale as the Citizen Kane of vidya or something bullshit.

I just finished playing all the routes, and it's a 4 out of 5 game at best.

Gaster, he's a character that isn't mentioned in the game on any regular playthrough, but if you alter some of the coding or some shit you can find out weird lore shit involving him.
He doesn't impact the story in any way, just adds depth to the world. He was the head scientist before Alphys, and while working on creating the CORE he fell into it and is in a state of half-death or something. I think the ferryman refers to him in one of his quotes, but that's about all of the regular indication he gets.

The general consensus on /v/ is pretty much what you said. It's a decent game, but not the best thing ever. The only people that say it IS that amazing are casuals who have never played a story-driven game in their lives.
