What was the difference with the blue discs?

The blue PS2 discs were CDs, while the other were DVDs. I'm not sure why they are blue specifically.

Can I play PS2 games on my PS3 or do I have to buy them on PSS?

and as for why blue, I guess it looked cooler, or something?
If there's an actual reason, it's probably the very same reason PS1 games were black.

my PS2 has that issue too
IIRC, it's fixable, but I dunno the fix since I bought a slim (and I got a fliplid) to replace it.
