Combat is better because more skills and better stat requirement for using said skill
Phys is actually good in this game
Characters are mixed bag but I prefer 1 over 2
Difficulty is the same.
Tone to 2 is more persona than SMT.

Personal opinion is that the story is overall worse, besides a couple routes. You have i wanna say nearly 2x the cast to use, this is both good and bad as some of them have very middling builds so youll be seeing more keisuke's. Plus with so many more they have less time to be fleshed out, the silly Social link thing didnt help that much either.

Combat's improved, difficulty is about the same, if a lil easier since melee isnt crippled 1st run compared to magic like it was in 1.

Overall i preferred 1's story/characters but i liked 2's gameplay. Havent played remake, no real desire to from what i heard of the new route

Sequel is trash, less escort missions though if that pissed you off.

Overclocked is on sale, do I go for it? Game looks like a mix between SMT and Habbo

The characters feel a lot more stereotyped, and the story really is an Eva ripoff. Outside of that though the combat and maps are for the most part better.
DeSu2 is also the game that brought non-random fusion to the series, so I'll forever be thankful for that.

I meant skill inheritance. It was the first game to allow you to manually select which skills to carry over, instead of having to go back and forth through the fusion menu for half an hour until you randomly got the right selection.

I couldn't bring myself to finish DeSu2 but I thought the anime was pretty cool, particularly for making Daichi not a fucking piece of goddamn holy shit I can't believe how much I hate Daichi in the game.

The original version didn't even have compedium. I was shocked when I replayed it some time ago. Like... how could you NOT have this?

And even despite this I still prefer the first one. The sequel was too animey, characters and the plot both sucked.

I don't think I'll replay the games any soon, but if it ever cames to this, overclocked seems like the only sane option. I don't know how I could finish the game completly without a compedium, it seems bizarre, thinking about it right now.
