Siren 2 got crazy as hell towards the end. Some of those monsters really should have looked so silly, and yet that face-texture-mapping, whatever you call it, that they used just makes them look so uncanny valley spooky.

All the games from Bioshock 1 onward paid for insane monster concept art, then shied away from it because Levine et al are incompetent hacks.

Like some of the monster concepts in the early developement of Bioshock 1 had the enemies be people enveloped in these hideous giant parasitic insect things.

And then the stuff for BI, with the layered timelines not only would have looked spooky, but would have also actually used the whole plotline of the different realities effecting people, as opposed to it being a hastily abandoned plotline in favor of all the other nonsense.
