Main reason I go with consoles over PC is because I don't want a huge piece of shit tower sitting next to my TV.

How do I built my own computer like pic related without paying the ridiculous price?
>>
>Main reason I go with consoles over PC is because I don't want a huge piece of shit tower sitting next to my TV.
You must be a fucking autist if something like the tower distracts you and keeps you from gaming. They're hardly any bigger than current consoles.

>$599

Lmao nobody is gonna pay more than $400.
>>
>>285662409
It's excessive. Why should I need a piece of hardware twice the size of an Xbone just because I want it to run at 60fps?
>>
>>285662072
Steam Machines are worse than consoles. Either get a tower or a PS4.
>>
>>285662072
For that small? Not likely.

>>285662591
Who said it had to? You could build an HTPC if you want.
>>
>>285662072
>How do I built my own computer like pic related without paying the ridiculous price?

Mini-ITX
>>
>>285662882
That is huge and absolutely nothing like the OP pic.

This is my PC. I built it myself. Its volume is distributed differently, but it's roughly the same size as an Xbone, and way, WAY more powerful.
>>
>>285662950
>Huge

Cut an Xbone in half and stack one half on top of the other. Exactly the same size.
>>
>>285663020
>but it's roughly the same size as an Xbone

No, it's not. Nowhere near.
>>
>>285662072
Maybe you should just get this OP, sounds like its your dream come true.

>GTX 970

Dumbass detected
>>
>>285663545
3.5 is more than enough, dumbass.
Stop bandwaggoning
>>
>>285663545
I built it before 3.5 was a thing.

Haven't had any problems with it, honestly.
>>
>>285662072
You should try a really long hdmi cable or a Steam Link.
>>
Anybody else pissed we don't have external graphics cards yet?

There's no excuse since the technology is possible with Thunderbolt.
>>
>>285662950
OP's pic has Intel Iris graphics and is an absolute joke of a computer for gaming.
>>
>>285662072
>ridiculous price.
that price seems right, taking in consideration that it hardware is better than xbone and ps4
>>
>>285664169
Latency dumbass
>>
>>285664349
>taking in consideration that it hardware is better than xbone and ps4
>better than ps4

No.
>>
>>285664535
? Its quite a bit more powerful. Around 2x actually.
>>
>>285664349
That's an integrated GPU from intel, I hope you like angry birds.
>>
>>285664823
Shit nvm. Its iris pro. I was thinking it was a gtx 970 for some reason
>>
>>285662072
>How do I built my own computer like pic related without paying the ridiculous price?
you can't
>>
>GPU
>Intel Iris Pro 5200
LEL they want $599 for this and they're selling it as a gaming box
>>
>>285662882
>4 stacked xbones
>>
>>285664941
>you can't

PC gaming sure is flexible! The possibilities sure are endless!
>>
>>285664169
Somebody should make a custom motherboard with external psu, sodimm ram and save even more space with a pci extension placing the videocard at an angle.
>>
>>285664169
pretty sure the bus and controller for your normal gpu slot is lot more powerful than the one for the generic ports like thunderbolt or usb.
>>
>>285665036
it can run league and minecraft so it will catch some people
>>
>>285665074
pc market isn't really into small formfactor and high performance at reasonable prices.. i guess you could get like nvidia sheild (android) or apu/intel boxes that are like $200 more than ps4 and barely better
consoles do have benefits for that pricepoint/powerusage/efficiency/economies of scale
>>
>>285662072

Get one of those $50 Steam Link things to go under your TV, and keep the big tower in a different room.
>>
>>285665036
Intel graphics are actually pretty good. The only reason I have ever had issues is because of how a certain game implemented some certain graphics calls and not because lack of performance. (eg. some specific shader or particle effect renders abnormally)
>>
>>285665469
you need a $100 router too
>>
>>285662072
The tiniest x86 desktops, like the one you posted, are NUCs. There's a low limit on how gaming-suited they are: the CPUs are always Ultrabook-tier and the graphics are always CPU integrated. RAM and SSD are normally sold separately; even the one you posted contains neither.

Maybe someday you can expand NUCs with real video cards (the new Broadwell series adds lid-accessories and PCIe-based NGFF cards), but that's not happening anytime soon.

The smallest you can make with an actual video card inside is a miniITX desktop. Most miniITX cases are admittedly much bigger than they need to be, because the manufacturers always want to support full-ATX PSUs, several HDDs, big CPU coolers, and maybe optical drives.

And why exactly can't we connect a PCIe device on the outside?
>>
>>285662072
What difference does it make what size it is next to your tv? Put it in a different room and run a cable if you want.
>>
>>285665849
What would you connect it with that wouldn't cause latency issues?
>>
>>285662950
Then use a different case.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE-Tk5uzDA0
This one can fit a full size video card and is about the same size as a PS4/Xbone.
>>
>>285665849
DUNNO BRAH, JUST GET A PCIe TO USB2.0 CONVERTER AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO!
>>
>>285665679
That price is because of the i7.
i3 and i5 variants cost half that.
>>
>>285665849
you could do that, some people actually do that. its way to fragile and sensitive to market them like that though. people would be breaking them left and right.

Honestly, why not just buy a PS4?

One second everyone is cumming over the 970, the next they hate it and are selling it, all because some shitters on /v/ said it was good/bad.

>>285663545
>3.5GB :^)
>muh bleeding edge GPU

believe it or not some people are master race AND need to save money

name one game coming out in the next two years that won't be playable on cards weaker than "lol 970"
>>
>>285664052
3.5 was always a thing, people just didn't notice it for like 4 months.

then they complained
>>
>>285665597
Don't be fucking poor. The router is the first thing you should get if you're doing anything serious about online. Ps4/Xbox/PC whatever. Don't be pissed now that you didn't upgrade your home network

Wrong.
>>digital games are always more expensive than their PC counterparts
Up to the developer. If they reduce a game to $5 on Steam, they will reduce it to $5 on PSN too.
>>$5/month for the same laggy p2p multiplayer that was free on PS3
Wrong. PS4s online is perfect and not laggy at all.
>>no controller options
Why would there be? PS4 is perfect enough. Don't need anything else.
>>no graphics options
So? I'm playing and experiencing games the way the developer wanted me to play and experience them.

>>
>>285665597

>>
$600 for that?

Why'd they spend so much on an i7 instead of an i3 or i5 and a dedicated GPU?
>>
Smallest PC I've built that could play games in 1080p was still slightly bigger than Xbone size.
With a custom case the size would be reduced a considerable amount and could be able to support bigger GPU vastly increasing the graphical power.
>>
>>285667384
Could you shill any Harder you tremendous kike.
>>
>>285663020
>roughly the size of an Xbone
Maybe three of them duct taped together.
Jesus. That delusion. I'm a mustard and even I can admit that towers are hueg.
>>
>>285671997
>towers are hueg
You say that as if they're all the same size. There are ITX cases that are about the same size as a PS4/Xbone.
>>
>>285668943
Because casuals look at it and say "oh wow an i7, must be really good" because they have no idea which GPU's are which. Same deal with prebuilt's like Alienware. i7's with GTX 960's and shit.
>>
>>285667384
>If they reduce a game to $5 on Steam, they will reduce it to $5 on PSN too.
That never happens, stop being a faggot.
>>
tbh the coolest thing i saw come out of steam machines was the return of risers for expansion cards and compartmentalization for cooling
>>
>>285662882
That's pretty small if you compare it to that CD.
>>
>>285667037
I hope this shilling is ironic.
>>
>>285663020
Where do you live? What temps do you get on that GPU? Cooling?

That's just Awful
Steam Machines will bomb
Just get Steam Link
>>
>>285665074
What the fuck kind of statement is that

>>

Case is probably $60
Ram is probably $60
PSU is probably $50
GPU is probably $350
CPU is around $200
SSD is around $80
HD is about $60
Mobo is about $100

~$960 machine roughly, with shipping and such, its probably $1000.

Just my quick estimate
