Monster Hunter is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Monster Hunter requires.

This is why Monster Hunter threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.

Conversely, the only people who don't like Monster Hunter clearly don't have the skills to handle its depth. It is too hardcore for them. That's okay though. Games like Halo exist for people like them. Monster Hunter fans are too good to hold grudges.

Does HBG outdamage LBG at every stage of the game? Is there ever a point where elemental weaknesses + right hitzones > HBG?

AuL gives a +20 boost to true attack power.

AuS: +10
AuM: +15
AuL: + 20
AuXL: + 25

with weapons with really high true raw, it's probably better to go for sharpness+1 because a new sharpness level can mean going from a 1.05 multiplier to 1.25, meaning a final 25% increase which, depending on your weapon, can mean MORE than a flat 25 raw damage increase.

And then you have kitchen boosts, might seeds, demondrugs, and stacking powertalon + powercharm.

Someone once posted exactly how all these different boosts stack (some have no extra effect when paired) but I can't remember.

Like everything, it depends on the monster. Is it better to just land an L3 charge? Generally yes. But CAN you hit the L3 charge as opposed to the spin. It's situational.

Use the spin if the l3 swing wouldn't connect.

LV1-30: Low Rank
LV31-85: High Rank
LV86-125: G Rank
LV126-135: Super G Rank (need Special G3 Permit to take these on)
LV136-140: Ultra G Rank

Obviously 136 - 140 is where you'll find the best stuff, but I'm sure relatively good relics can be found in other ranks.

It really depends on your weapon, idk. A better crit rate isn't as good as a consistent damage increase. Crit God only gives you 30% affinity as the best possible, where a crit is a 25% increase in the final damage output, after monster resistances.

I use SnS myself and I've been happier with AuL since that and all my other boosts give me about a 25% increase that stays consistent, instead of happening by chance.

But if you're a GS user, you can't go wrong with crit draw, if you can get it.

Also I know fuck-all about hammers so I can't advise you on that, sorry.

Having started at Tri, I have to admit that most of the monsters that are new to me, that I also fucking love, are from 1st or 2nd gen.

Among the 4th gen, though, I've gotta give it to Nerscylla. Just the fact that it not only has Gypceroses hanging from its ceiling, but is also wearing their pelts. It's just fucking intimidating.

As for older monsters that I'm fighting for the first time, Gravios and Daimyo Hermitaur are both amazing creatures.

I just beat it last night, with a weapon at blue sharpness, and it didn't bounce at all until it dropped to green, at which point I sharpened and it stopped bouncing.

Maybe it has something to do with my weapon, or where I was hitting it.

Often the monster will already be on the map. Sometimes though it'll wait to spawn until you deliver the first egg/stone/etc. It's always a good idea to bring psychoserum and mega dash juice as well as having an armor set with earplugs for such missions. Killing the monster off as soon as it appears is also usually a good idea.

ok had 3U for 3ds and I wanted to like it but I just didn't like having to constantly berries and wheatstone and all that jazz. Just wanted to fight the monsters and upgrade my stuff get into the good stuff. I just finished playing the demo of 4 and liked it is there anything I can do that will allow me to skip all the gathering?
