New Monster Hunter thread.
Thread discussion, who best new monster?
Yo, we're doing all of HR2 from the beginning. ALL. OF. IT. Yes! That means the gathering and kill 50 small prey aswell. Can you handle the autsim? Will you join the quest to get that golden check mark?
1 slot open
Once we're through, we're gonna do the HR2->HR3 urgent 4 times (or however many people we actually are by that point)
How do I get money in the game?
I'm at HR8 in village and HR5 in guild, I'm running out of money to even pay for potions and the quests.
Doesn't help that people tend to cart 2 times in every quest now.
So I came across this:
But now I'm wondering what the fuck I should use at G rank. Those fucking High Rank skills are all I'd ever need since I mainly use LS. What are some noteworthy G rank sets?
>tfw I want to play online
>Shitty campus wifi drops my 3DS every 10 minutes
Ew. I just use a full set of armor of my favorite look, or one that gives me a lot of hammer bonuses like the 3U G-Rank Black Diablo set.
What's the 4U ultimate armor set for hammer? Any hammer specific armors in low rank?
wait I changed my mind. I had 2 chilling beaks and found out that naja parts are traded for Ceana parts.
So Ceana armor instead.
is kirin armor still the hottest in this game?
and what the hell is up with that lewd as fuck animation when you save the game?
This is something that isn't explained in the game and I hate it.
The game never tells you there is a tech tree of weapons and that you have to upgrade your basic weapons to access them.
I only crafted weapons and never upgraded them because I thought with the new materials I could forge better lances so upgrading was useless in early game.
I was wrong. Fuck you /v/
Post your custom messages.
>Mount: I'm on it, cease fire!
>Faint: GAME OVER, MAN!
>Place bomb: Just like Bomberman 64
>More damage and better sharpness
Did you even look at what it did to the stats? Why would that be useless?
To see Sharq Byte you need to get Sharqskin Scales and Meaty Hides from Zamites, the tiny landshark guys.
I liked how Great Wroggi and his posse would target both you and Uragaan in 3U.
Elemental damage can be worth it on all weapons given the right circumstances.
Lance in particular can go either way. You'll benefit from the element, but it's not super necessary. If you have two weapons with the same sharpness and raw and one has an element that the monster is weak to and one has an element that the monster is resistant to, then you use the one with the one the weak element.
If the difference in displayed raw value is under 20 points, it's typically an okay idea to go with the element
No. You either have element, or you have status.
Charge Blades are different. Phials are independent of the actual weapon's element. Zamtrios CB in particular is one of the ones that can't knock out or exhaust a monster, but trades that for extreme elemental damage on its charge attacks.
What does resistant even means? When the wiki says "element damage" and it says 0 under the water column, does this mean if my weapon is water I will hurt him 0 water based damage?
If that's the case I can still kill the beast with my raw power, right?
>everyone sheathes to heal up instead of going ham
>put monster to sleep
>nobody stops attacking
>place barrel bomb anyway
Yes. The number given is a multiplier. So if it were, for instance, 30, then it'd be 30% of your elemental power, or 0.3x to the element value after it's divided by 10 (since they're multiplied by 10 to bloat the value for casual observers).
>playing village high rank
>brue tigrex: no problem
>stygian zingore: no problem
>NOPE NOPE NOPE
Oh fuck. I thought Khezu was terrifying before, when Frenzied, it's roar changes to an outright scream. It's offputting as fuck.
Tried the attacking one, but with the IG I spend too long dodging, getting buffs then mounting before going all out so I think I'll stick to the defense one.
Wait what there's a subspecies?!
Get outta here, Dobson
>Khezu's veins pulsate when enraged
Critical Brachydios is to Brachydios what Golden Rajang and Savage Deviljho are to Rajang and Deviljho. He starts out in what you'd ordinarily consider to be his rage mode and only gets even more ridiculous.
People may bitch and moan but I am really digging Zamtrios. He's kind of goofy but he has a cool design, and his gear looks neat, even if it's affinity is shit for some.
Zamites are cute as fuck too.
Here's a stupid question: I've added another anon from one of these threads to friends, but is there a way to send any kind of message to him to let him know I'm ready to play?
The game says "Unavailable" until you're in an online Guild Hall. But if I create one without a password, randoms might flood it. And if I lock it, there's no way to let him know what the password actually is.
What is the best tactics to obtain the gear you want? Keep soloing the quest mission for the monster that has the materials, do multiplayer quests for it, do expeditions?
I have a concern about my New 3DS XL. My R shoulder button moves around more than my L and it doesn't have a nice defined click like the L one either. Also when I click it right on the edge it feels like it makes two clicking noises. Do you guys think if I took it up to Gamestop right now they'd give me a new one?
>Seltas queen ate her combination partner when she got tired
This is not how team Dai-gurren rolls
>Desire sensor strikes, so taking forever to get the plate, so I decide I may as well craft some different weapons to play with so I don't get bored
>Using a Great Sword, I leap off a canopy of leaves and cut off Rathians tail in mid air
I was worried about the vertical combat when all we had were trailers, but holy fuck does it add to the game.
Alright, let's try this then. This will be my first non-demo multiplayer experience with a 3DS monhun.
Anyone wants to clear some LR quests with me? No overgear please, I pretty much just started the game.
You literally should just get your rank 3 armor and go to high rank to get your first rank 4 armor, which basically makes 90% of low rank armor obselete except for maybe clownsuiters and super pros who can play at 1 HP left and never get hit.
There's some kind of armor combination that gives Handicraft, which basically boosts your sharpness up a tier. I think Gore armor is in that equation somewhere.
Yellow sharpness is now green. Green is now blue. Blue is now fucking purple.
I don't know. I still love it. Haven't picked it up much in 4U, though, mainly because I'm trying to focus on Hunting Horn.
Might try to pick up Lance or Gunlance eventually, too.
There's still some things to be learned such as switching around weapons and the whole charging shit.
It's a lot more complex than SA, that's for sure. SA doesn't have any funny tricks.
Not my gameplay style but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmCA7EwE3rY goes perfectly to fighting Rajang. The drums are in synch with his punching combo attack, it's pretty cool.
I just watched this video here and it looks like this guy just gets blocks for free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVRC9mv-e0w
Do you have to hold R or something to get the guard point? is that what I'm doing wrong?
The first few frames of R+X (if you do it from guarding or draw, it has no GP), and the last few frames of the round slash (X,X,X and the five million other things that go into it).
>slick slime pompadour
>sick boxing skills
>explode everything I touch
Could be worse
How do I break his fin things off? New to MH here
Because it was incredibly overpowered in Freedom 2/Unite and everyone used them. They've been balanced since then, though.
Hit him in the head a lot. I prefer to use a Hammer against him, which is very good at that.
Jaggi's frill? You hit it a bunch.
the crab thing, dayomo hermatur or something. feels very unique and isn't just a reskin/using an similiar skeleton/model
>OH MAN I NEED THIS ORE AND THERE'S A MINING SPOT RIGHT THERE
>I'M GONNA MINE THE SHIT OUT OF THAT MINING SPOT
>IT FUCKING DISAPPEARS RIGHT AS I GET TO IT
WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA FUCK
Kirin's got a history of being 'hard to track' by the guild, so the Kirin quests will pop up randomly in the guild and the village. There are low and high rank variants, the first one I fought was in MHF2 at roughly the 5* village quests. Wouldn't be surprised if it appeared pretty early here, too.
>Daimyo Hermitaur is in MH4U
>Shogun Ceanataur isn't
Does anyone know if the rest of the Palico DLC will work the same way as the Mario/Luigi DLC or if they'll be unique Palicos? I've been naming Palicos I've been recruiting based on what character DLC I want them to be.
easiest catch in my lyfe
Due to trying to collect every hunting horn in existence, my budget for greatswords is rather low. I really only have room for one or two of em.
Which greatswords should I get? I know I'm supposed to get the ones with the biggest raw damage, but I'm looking at the weapon trees and they all seem to have something wrong with them like -affinity or shitty sharpness or just looking goddamn ugly as shit.
>play the first time online in mh4u to farm gore magashagalaga
>i hammer, one glaive, one cb, one ls
>mfw when everyone goes for the head, tripping each other constantly, ignoring the tail or anything besides the head
i swear to god that was the most retarded shit i´ve ever seen
I don't think tripping in general is as bad as it was.
Most of my attacks with Charge Blade don't get interrupted, it's only Insect Glaive light attacks that seem to which isn't a big deal. I'm not speaking for all weapons, just my mains.
>normal and crimson fatalis is in
>the two assed wonder isn't
>oh wait no one cares
>jho and dios are in
>other brute wyverns aren't
>most importantly duramboros
>none of the other huge monsters like Gaoren or Lao Shan are in
as far as I know
This is probably the only MonHun game I've wanted actual DLC for. Having a huge MH Freedom nostalgiabomb with it, though.
Am I the only one that doesn't use companions?
It just makes the fight not me vs the monster
But me and my cats vs the monster
I like 1 on 1s
It's a shame though because I like a lot of the DLC this game
Why wasn't water added back? I really enjoyed the water fights, the Lagiacris was super fun because it was on land and underwater, and the controls were decent for the underwater fighting.
>that feel when
>that feel when have 100+ uses on one weapon type and 0 on all others
>that feel when can't bring myself to branch out because it would ruin my guild card
>fighting Zamtrios underwater
I don't think I could do it. I already have too much of a pathological fear of sharks.
>melee users get 3 new weapons in five years
>ranged users get nothing
>Switching weapon classes from gunner to blademaster
>none of my good armors work with IG
>have to forge new ones as well as upgrading it
Is anyone else in a similar predicament? Any tips or am I stuck doing double the work if I want to keep my IG and LBG at good strength.
>Should I pull the trigger or will it be useless later on?
Weapons aren't like armor where they can become obsolete. You can just keep upgrading it, and generally if you can get a better weapon you should.
You have to load phials into your shield.
First, charge phials with R+A (ideally red charge to give you 5)
Then, do X, X+A, X+A, R. This does a normal attack into a shield bash into the axe mode, but R cancels it and loads the phials into your shield.
Now your shield has lance tier guarding in SnS mode and +20% more damage in Axe mode. Your Super Burst becomes the ultra burst but uses up the buff.
what's a good early high rank armor you can get in the village? I'm sick of my velocidrome garbs (please don't tell me to just get velocidrome S gear)
>Fear of sharks
Get a load of this guy, he's afraid of fish!
Anyone wanna join me to do the post hr 2 quests? these quests:
>tails from the sunken hollow
zamtrios and lagombi
>field study: primal forest
najarala and rathian
I wanna finish hr 2 completely.
That's the jist of the game, but there's a shit ton of monsters in the full game, with quite varied movesets between them.
In the end you are just going to be dodging and slashing in a way.
Except Elder Dragons.
They're literally the worst weapon in the game. Without powercoatings, specific armor sets against specific monsters, critical weapons they're terrible
Every weapon even if you just mash buttons you can win if you don't know what you're doing
You can't with bows
Best third gen theme.
Can anyone post that video with that skilled CB player (I think it was a nip) that was fighting a Tigrex or something like that?
Is gunlancer or just normal lancer better for a new player?
>the way he looks at the camera
Cats are too cute.
And just go with whichever one you think is cooler. Try them both out, get a feel for which one is most fun for you, and then worry about mastering it after that.
All weapons are good in this game, it's 100% personal preference.
>are you a new new player to the series, and want to use a weapon thats good for learning the game?
>but i really want to use lance
then Do you like the idea of shooting shell?
>Tfw actually did it
I feel accomplished
Either. Gunlance is all about getting dem explosions, lance has much better mobility and has counter. It's two different mindsets, they're different like hammer and hunting horn.
>when you see a random hammer user doing the spin attack
>when you see a GS user combo
