I was playing on hard without a guide, and I was beating all of the bosses without subweapons, but shit got too real for me around the eyeball boss and I haven't gone back to it yet. I forget exactly what he does but hitting him with just the standard weapons is a bitch.

I got stuck on the minecart bossfight and stopped playing.

That was a year or so ago. I haven't really felt like picking it back up. Great soundtrack and a fun game. I kept a guide handy and it didn't diminish my enjoyment of it.

However the guide can't help me get gud against that boss. That's all me and I just stopped bothering after awhile.

When I had to go to level four to find a clue about getting to the first boss, I realised the game was not for me, yet decided to keep playing it... only to be repelled by the absolutely atrocious air-control, turning jumps into a nightmare.

I know you after you kill him you theoretically have to go throught the area, but it's normal to have been throught that before and just warping. Plus from what i read on a guide, it seems you need to kill 3 or 4 boss for the alternative world door to open

I read the manual, then fumbled around each area writing down every note I saw. After about 8 hours, I had three areas beaten and access to the dark-side. I'm geniunely bad at video games though, as I left the grail until I had beaten 4 areas and gotten double jump.

I beat it without a guide except for the "life dance" puzzle, which I knew what to do but was doing it in the wrong spot. I didn't 100 percent it by a long shot, so I never got the super whip or finished the super dungeon. I clocked in at about 36 hours total.
