The problem with Demon's Souls was that some of it's equipment was very clearly total shit and was not made to do any respectable amount of damage.

I really like the Witch of Izalith and her whole fucked up family.

She wanted to recreate the flame that brought about life and meaning, and ended up creating an endless bed of explosive, never ending life that was corrupted in the form of demons.

I love how all of her children ended up fucked up due to her mistakes. I love how Chaos combines both the imagery of lava and churning , scalding fire with the constant wild growth of trees and weeds. I love how the weapons of Demons all look like they were broken off of branches or were carved from wood or just grew on the damn vine that way.

I also love the idea that she tried to recreate the first flame, but instead created a sea of lava, an "imperfect" flame.

I don't know about Demon's Souls yet, I'm still trying to beat it. I'm at the Maneaters at the moment, though I've gone through pretty much every area a little bit, finishing a few of them.

Abyss Greatsword if you are 100~ because it actually scales up to 10 Humanity and has a higher damage modifier than it's AR suggests, much like the BKH. The other two are only really "good" with very high stats, but are still fun to use regardless.

Last time I played was when they put DeS on the PS store, it was also free for PS+, I think. It had a lot of activity then, a short revival. Lots of new players, lots of people who only played DaS. They had no clue what the scraping spear was. I'd invade the same people multiple times since DeS didn't have the failure p2p shit das did. They would message me asking how I broke their gear and to leave them alone. All they knew after multiple invasions was to turn their backs and run from me.

So many of them ran right into the exploding carts in stonefang.

And for DeS I just loved how each of the NPCs were involved in the levels, and you could come across their black phantoms and all that.
Having the NPCs actually travel in and out of the Nexus, or to and from Firelink Shrine as you progressed did a lot to make the two game worlds feel alive. You can either rush to 1-4 and get the Key from Ostrava, or kill him like the Demon you are in 1-1.

Be warned though, Doran isn't a joke on NG, and in NG+ his power is fucking off the wall. He could probably solo the Ancient Dragon like Raime.

In any case it's worth fighting him at least once since his armor is great, his ring is great, and his death scream will haunt your nightmares. Make sure you do Hyper Mode with Clever Rat Ring, Morion Blade, and your strongest weapon to kill him quick.

He will also full heal after losing 50% hp if you don't pressure him.

I played Demon's Souls so much I platinumed it 3 times over. Granted, I glitched Dupepile Thomas, but that's only because I couldn't be assed grinding for certain stones.

You can do all world tendency shit in one single playthrough if you do it right. I played so much I figured all of that shit out without a guide.

Also I'm pretty sure he created Fool's Idol to trick them into going above to become Demons of their own free will. You can see the giant Heart is creating those things, they prop out when it gets crushed. The Gargoyles, Manscorpion things and even the Maneaters all have the faces of the inhabitants. It was theorized that the Heart was somehow keeping the old monk alive.

Also the yellow cloak was a Demon itself that was only looking for stronger hosts.

I agree though, it's intriguing and I wish we had more backstory on it.
