Schools and businesses want everything typed, which makes sense, because nobody's got the time to decipher a thousand different people's chicken scratch. Hell, the few college professors that still allow students to turn in handwritten essays explicitly forbid cursive writing.

Further still, the entire idea of having multiple written scripts is completely idiotic, it makes things unnecessarily complicated. Just look at the Japanese language. Cursive isn't really obsolete, while intend to type almost all of my documents when I must write with pen and paper I use a modified form where I limit the amount of times my pen leaves the paper which leads to very fast note taking but makes it illegible for anyone who doesn't know my handwriting style which I'm not complaining about since I know it's a pain but with all the time constraints on exams and shit it helps.
