What most people don't realize is that sitting on the bowl like you're sitting on a chair while taking a shit puts extra pressure on your bowels and colon, and increases the risk of getting a fucking prolapse and hemorrhoids. People were "designed" to shit while squatting, as that was how our ancestors have been doing it for millions of years. Outhouses and other facilities where you sit while shitting are a relatively recent invention, and our bodies haven't yet gotten used to them. Of course, instead of just squatting right on the bowl, you could just use a foot stool to put yourself in the proper shitting position without having to risk breaking anything.
