Because it's the hero that PC gaming deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt it, because it can take it. Because it's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

AA games are the best games, they don't lean on 10 million dollar marketing budgets to sell themselves to the true fans. Pretty much all of them are on PC.(except the ones made by or for Nintendo)
>>
>>273005814
If all those big publishers are out of business, lots of IP will be dead. No more Diablo or Far Cry.
>>
>>273006423

And they wonder why games like Tales of Valkyrie and Witcher 2 do amazing, while CoD and AssCreed do piss poor
>>
hey, my game can't run. Is it software incompatibility? Surely it is not the game programers fault. They would never take my hard earned dollars and give me a shitty game that crashes on anything I play it. Oh wait! The game thinks I'm a pirate! Oh, I better spends 24 hours with tech support at this defunct company to convince them I actually bought this game.
>I actually bought this game....
>>
>>273003179
Not all the time. Bad games get pirated heavily and affect sales but good games get sales boosts.

Case in point:
Divinity OS. The beta could be pirated and was in a very playable state that was pretty much like a 12 hour demo yet is considered Larian's most successful game to date.
>>
>>273006159
Steam is a DRM system, you moron.

Completely agree with you.

>Pretty much all of them are on PC
Yep.
But they also get on Steam, PSstore or XBLA when they get the chance.
Those three are a real sales boost.
>>
>>273006798

Buyfag here. If you really think every pirate is a missed sale than you are hopelessly deluded.

And "helped ecnomy" doesn't benefit me, the consumer. it pits more money in the pockets of publishers provided IF pirates buy the game. (which they wont)
>>
>>273006970
*replying
>>
>>273006803
Talking about on PC. Sales for CoD, AssCreed, and anything EA are constantly doing worse and worse. Which I honestly wonder why they're so focused on PC piracy, when Console piracy is just as relevant. Then again it's probably just a convenient excuse to boost up their console consumer base, and dump money into R&D that'll eventually go nowhere.
>>
>>273006982
And how does that benefit me?
I don't give a fuck about the companies I buy the games.
For me, they could go bankrupt after I get the game I bought.
The only honest company is CD Projekt, or the ones working on Nintendo.
The rest can rot for what I care.

Bullshit. You believed their marketing teams.
>For me, they could go bankrupt after I get the game I bought.

Denuvo is actually a good way to weed out the leeches from piracy.

If you can't wait a month, tops, then you deserve to buy a plastic, generic, Sweden-approved AAA+ EA blockbuster.
>>
>>273006776
>Bad games get pirated heavily and affect sales but good games get sales boosts

Piracy of bad games harms sales.
Piracy of good games boosts sales.

It's PC, the benefit of it is that we can fix the games ourselves, and even improve them. See Watch Dogs.

>Some of us actually like game like CoD. I bet you have a soft spot for some title published by EA or Ubisoft.
I had.
EA's was Battlefield, and they destroyed the series by releasing 3 games in a row broken as fuck, that needed 1 year worth of patches.

>Ubisoft
It had, Assassin's Creed, in fact, after pirating AC4, and playing 2 hours, I bought it, physical edition even, but with AC Unity they just killed the entire series with single game, also Watch Dogs, which is literally the iPhone of videogames: marketed to hell, but dull as fuck.

>Activision
The Transformers games, but nope, they decided that the studio making them was better put to making previous-gen Call of Duty ports, and they decided to kill that series as well with Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark.

Sorry, but I have reasons to wanting to see all of them dead.
>>
>>273005531
Most idiots aaa games cater to are on consoles because that's the platform for madden and cod.

Piracy does not make a major difference except for small developers, as far as I know the only developer truly fucked by piracy are the guys who made world of goo.

Pretty much. When small studio asks for 60$ for their game you refuse to buy it because it's so expensive. Small studios need more money to produce games. Large studios can offer dumping prices. Your greed will eventually destroy every small dev studio that even tries to release a new game.

There's no such thing as a communist country on Earth, the USSR was never even communist.

A communist country:

1) Has no such thing as money.
2) Has no state. That means no government.

Did you country have either of these things? If so, it was not a communist society. Communism has been done by most human societies for most of human history actually, it just wasn't called communism.

TLDR: Most people have no clue what communism is, and often think communism is about the very opposite of what it's meant to achieve.
>>
>>273008053

I think Steam is proprietary freedom denying DRM malware too. I think Steam is bad, but I use it anyway because it's a sacrifice I chose to make to get to the end goal of what I want.

In terms of proprietary software, Steam isn't the worst thing in the world either.

>Denuvo does jack shit to my PC.

Malware just means malicious software. This is software that's primary goal is to do malicious things against the user of it, and restrict their freedom.

>angry marketer

It's not my fault your shitty company dumps boatloads of cash into expensive name brand VAs, hires some hollywood hack to do the score and directing, dumps a shitload of money into the marketing and DRM, and then blames me for pirating the piece of shit. Maybe you should actually pay the developers, hire good artists, stop making everything a 60$ checklist and create a meaningful consumer base as opposed to paying a 3rd party to viral shit that has nothing to do with the actual game via mountain dew and doritos. Maybe if we had demos before release so that feeling of being tricked into buying a AAA piece of shit isn't 100% confirmed. Same thing with review embargos.

Now I can't attest for everyone, because I'm one singular anon. But why would I want to go back to being a paying customer for EA, Activision or Ubisoft? What incentive do I have? I don't even pirate their games, nor pay for them, and they still make it very well known that they don't like me as a consumer. And because I don't buy into their hype and anti-consumerist policies, then I'm not welcome.

EA is telling that only reason their games don't sell on PC to the investors is because of rampant piracy.

They cannot just turn around and say "remember that piracy thing? we made it up." They have to find a way to stop the piracy for the investors.

I'm sure EA itself will hack denuvo if nobody else does it.

Exactly. They cater to those idiots because they won't even think about pirating a game.

AAA companies produce games to get revenues.

It would be fucking stupid to put your money in a clever game that is going to get pirated when you can make a dumb one that will sell thousands (or millions) of copies.

>Piracy does not make a major difference except for small developers...

And for us. The players. When companies grow big enough, they end up switching sides in order to appeal to te console market. A market that, as you know, is dominated by dumb-fucks. So they start dumbing down their games, and making games that stupid cowadooty and madden people would buy.

>Communism is about equal distribution of wealth

There is no such thing as money, I'm just going to remind you of that.

>who do you think is responsible for that distribution and maintaining balance.

The community. Capitalist societies have evolved where if you took away law enforcement and government there would be chaos, but if you think in terms of how a tribal society would have handled things several hundreds of years ago, that's basically how.

If you were living in a Native American tribe a thousand years ago, you can kind of figure out why there wasn't much "crime", and when there was how it was dealt with. You can also imagine why everyone was okay with helping out a little for the community.

Exactly, they were socialists countries.

The logic is that after capitalism, there's a socialist revolution and then Communism.

Why Communism never happened? Because it doesn't work. A economy without private means of production is a economy doomed to fail.

People who critisize capitalism are people who learned capitalism from a marxist point of view, which is incorrect. Those economic problems that we have today are mostly (if not all of them) because goverment makes dumb decisions and they blame "free markets" or something else so they can still make dumb decisions.

Newsflash, devs have always made shit for a quick buck and the problem got worse with piracy because everyone had access to the games and only a small fraction would pay for them so devs had pump shit out on a very frequent basis. don't forget these guys scalped their enemies and would raid other tribes constantly. They also had a very very bad gambling problem.

That's an argument that totally holds water.

If anything, no piracy is the best context for releasing mediocre shit.

Then every AAA game was copy-protection locked, non-transferable, micro-transaction filled, DLC addled, rushed garbage filled with ads with zero internet exposure outside of approved media where every protagonist is a non-binary, pansexual, demiplatonic, omniracial, HAES feminist fighting the patriarchy, just like SJWs said they wanted.

Yet there is nothing more AAA publishers can do, they have run out of money, alienated everyone except SJWs, who don't even buy games anyway, and with no recourse, they liquidate everything and run with the money, leaving games a respite.

Piracy actually benefits the companies.

If your game is good, piracy is going to help spread it, and it's going to give more people than before an opportunity to try it and become a fan of it, who never would have otherwise.

You can make far more money off having one really good popular title that has a strong community behind it, then you can with making some turd with extreme DRM.

Some companies give away games for $0 because they release that getting the largest and most loyal fanbase they can is more lucrative.

guarantee you both Witcher and GTA will use Denuvo if it remains uncracked by their release dates

Remember these devs aren't the ones making the decisions, if the board of directors or the CEO of a company sees a DRM that is uncracked and a major PC release looming they will go for it

The thing with the slippery slope is that it's not a strict fallacy - it's not a logical, argumentative fallacy: it can be perfectly true and representative of the situation.

If you don't think it is, then you're going to have to try and show why it isn't.

Ever noticed how only THE shittiest developers whine about piracy?

Both AAA and indie.

Could it be that competent developers offering quality product are not afraid? I wonder why? Could it be that even motherfucking pirates can tell their friends or the internet about the game they enjoy?

Could it be that pirates actually help with the marketing of good games? Aren't piracy whiners afraid of the bitter truth about their shitty product by someone without buyer's remorse or paid review?

They needed Batman to be the murderer of Harvey Dent, because otherwise all of the hope the city had just built from the thwarting of the Joker's plans would collapse if they found out the Joker had corrupted the pure, incorruptable White Knight that was Harvey Dent.

The people of Gotham deserved a self-sacrificing hero like Batman, but for the time being, it was in their best interest to make him hated.

Joke's on you, EA, a shitload of people just don't trust you anymore. We'd buy your game for the multiplayer if we liked it, but after your recent piles of dogshit, the only people who bought your game are the crazy motherfuckers who just love what you've been shitting out lately. The rest of us look fondly back at DA:O and pray for a proper sequel but wouldn't DARE just buy this game on launch. Not after Dragon Age 2. Not after Mass Effect 3. Not after The Old Republic. Not after Sim City. Not after The Sims 4. You have absolutely no credibility and the only way your games can do well now is if you let us play them for free and find out if they're any good. There's literally no other way.

I hope Denuvo gets cracked right after a big price drop or something so if we like the game we can buy it on discount.
