Studio Japan is more of a publishing arm then a developer at this point. They back projects like Bloodborne, The Tomorrow Children, Freedom Wars, Soul Sacrifice and stuff rather than do in house development most of the time. They have a bunch of producers they put on each project to help finance, market and manage millstone stuff.

Gears was a lot better than Uncharted. Uncharted 2 was still good. Sick of the Uncharted formula by 3.
All of their attempts at FPS were shit compared to Halo. Even if they were good they'd be ruined by the DS3 controller having such loose, imprecise sticks.
Killzone and LBP control horribly so they inherently can't be good games.
Can't stand Media Molecule games in general. They're tediously simple and rely on a "so cute and creative!!!" thing. If only they'd be creative in the gameplay department, but that'd be harder for them since they seem to be a studio of artists and not game designers.

Infamous was so bleak and boring. The world felt empty, the enemies were not fun to fight. Only good thing about it was the movement, which they carried over from the actually good Sly Cooper series.

Gravity Rush is a similar situation where the world is so boring and empty and it's just not that fun. Having to wave the Vita around and use other gimmick features because it had to be a showcase game also ruined it.
Heavenly Sword was also ruined by shoehorning in gimmick controls with its mandatory suckaxis controls.
Then there's Haze and Lair and I don't think anyone would argue these aren't shit.

But the vast majority of games don't allow the player to access high level areas at anytime. Usually they're linear to make sure you're always strong enough to beat what you're fighting at that point.

They didn't reason out that the game itself was shit and that every amateur and professional review reflected that.
