I need a recommendation, /v/. I'm in the mood for some straight-up, cookie-cutter sword and sorcery shit. 2D/older games are preferrable, but 3D is fine too.
Care to explain to me how pendulum monsters work? I stopped paying attention when Synchros came out, though I do know how synchros work.
I.. I just want my favorite card game back guys
Can I suggest a game I made? Its an Action-RPG.
Its pretty much SWORD AND MAGIC, the game, quite unique gameplay too.
Pendulums are pretty easy actually. There are two new zones. You can set a scale with two pendulum cards. The scale allows you to special summon any number of monsters whose level is between the scales from your hand once per turn.
Pendulum monsters from the field go to the extra deck and not to the graveyard and can be pendulum summoned again as if they were in your hand
My deck used to wipe the floor with fucking everyone before synchros. Now I'm lucky if I even survive 5 turns using it. The power creep is bullshit man.
Remember ritual monsters?
Please, tell me what you thought of it after you're done playing.
Also, grafixs suck, I have to improvise as an artist since they literally don't exist.
What the hell? Back when I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh there were undead minion decks, water decks and dragon decks, and everything inbetween. What the hell is this new shit you're talking about?
Exodia was the shit back when I used to play, also wave motion cannon? if that gives u any idea of a timeline
Actually they are pretty balanced. For high scales you usually need 2 cards of a specific archtype and otherwise the scale become pretty shit. Also if you use too many high level monsters you're just risking dead draws.
Pendulum decks are pretty fun actually though
>Magic Swordsman was always my favorite card
>the anime never summon him
>no one mained with him
>people kept picking Celtic Guardian or Gaia the Fierce Knight
Will try, thanks.
there still are different archetype decks (like water, dragon etc) but they keep adding new mechanics that makes the old stuff almost useless
Exodia was always a badass
I stoped playing / building my deck around the GX era with the HEROES and stuff, skipped Synchro completely and tried to come back to the XYZ stuff, but now I'm pretty much done with it
I still have my deck and some friends still have theirs, so I can always go back to play just for fun
>they never got his name right
>was summoned to die next turn
>never got a kill
>never stayed on screen for more than 30 seconds
>voice changes every other episode
And you wanted your favorite card to get that kind of treatment? You should feel happy for it.
I'm telling you, Sora is going to be Vector.
but they never were up to par with the top deck anyways, I just always loved to play with them
and when the cards came right I could wreck pretty bad
>mfw I summon 3 Destiny End Dragoons on the same duel
my brother plays (or used to play I don't know) Elemental Heroes, and I used to have some pretty fucking cool duels with him
my deck ended up having some E-Heroes too, like Stratos and Absolute Zero
I heard Stratos was banned though, fucking sucks
We never got a season that focused story of Gagagigo or any of the other cool cards with stories. Out of all card game based shows this is what i wanted the most.
Nah, recently they go with the "all summoning types are cool!" marketing that's why we got some pretty powerful Fusion and Ritual decks.
I don't think we'll get a scenario where a single archetype dominates the metagame like with Dragon Rulers so soon
>something about yugioh cards
came onthis card. True story.
Are Junk decks still good? This card was my fav of the Synchro era.
the only hero deck i seriously remembered using was a terra firma/inferno one that focused on the "natural" elemental heroes like woodsman, ocean, and lady heat. It was okay but nothing special. regarding startos, it was good to fish out a destiny hero and then discard with destiny draw. but I could never play destiny heroes well.
my D-Hero deck was heavily based on summoning the Destiny End Dragoon as fast as possible, and as a second option using Plasma or Dogma by themselves and some E-Hero fusions. I never got to try my XYZ cards too much
I'm glad his story didn't end at Gogiga Gagagigo.
>partnering with black thunder
>not partnering with the king
Man that card is annoying when you face it. I also liked this card a bit too, for a while (look wise I mean.)
>partnering with anyone but JOEY FUCKING WHEELER
Jack in Over the Nexus isn't half bad as a partner, provided you build your deck entirely around Red Dragon Archfiend. Vice Dragon + Dark Resonator = RDA. Then summon Deep Sea Diva (he actually uses this card) and make Red Nova Dragon. If you got a Lv4 monster out and have a Lv3 Tuner in the grave, play Dark Bug and sync into a Lv8 (preferably RDA.) The Resonators are Fiends so you can also have Chaos King Archfiend and Dark Highlander in your Extra Deck.
I played a Junk deck in that game mainly and could play it way better than Yusei's AI ever did. In Tag Force 6(?), I actually seen Yusei use Foolish Burial to dump a Quillbolt Hedgehog and then SET Junk Synchron!
AI is ass always, but yusei's deck with self-fulfilling synchro loops and stardust bailing you out from tons of shit is easier to manage.
Or other characters like Kalin, Crow and Aki are much easier to have synergy with(Blackwing oppression is REAL).
Of course, the simplest answer is making Brionac and having your partner use his cards to empty the field instead of making plays
Too bad I don't own Tag Force. Yusei's deck in the last DS game is utter crap. It's apparently based around Stardust but he almost NEVER brings it out and what he usually summons are Gravekeeper's Spies, Mist Valley Soldiers, and set Tuningwares. One time he brought out Junk Warrior without any other monsters out and I just killed it. Shooting Star Dragon is his "key card" but I never seen it come out yet.
Kain plays a deck that forces you to have no hand which makes me ill just thinking about it, Crow plays Blackwings which are totally OP imo, and Aki plays Plants which are just...boring. My favorite partner is still Jack because even if Red Dragon goes to hell, he still packs main deck beatsticks like Luster Dragon, Stronger Wind Dragon, and Lancer Archfiend.
Tried to partner with Brave of Team Ragnarok recently, but the Nordic gods are cumbersome. Still won most of our tag turbo duels with them though.
Also, BE BORN! SHOOTING STAR DRAGON!
Infernities are broken.
It's just that in the DS game, he plays shit like Infernity Dward, hound etc.
Tag force series have multiple decks per characters and the higher level ones are closer to meta versions.
Yusei's lv10 deck (you only play against lv9s at most in the normal game) is a bitch.
Jack only gets actual decent deck in TF6 with a workable Red Nova build
Also, Tag force games are emulatable.
No excuses, get it on
They are turn based cardgames, so it will hardly get stuck, but whatever.
I am surprised you did not get a PSP just to mod though.
So many games and good emulators, so easy to use
The only reason I assume it will lag is because OTN lags on my Desmume and it's graphics are way worse than Tag Force's.
My father gave me a PSP for my birthday years ago but I never modded it. I heard it had a good home-brew community but it all went over my dumb head.
Am i the only one here that REALLY enjoys the yugioh anime?
I liked season 0 as a novelty
but the pegassus tourney and battle city is GOAT in my opinion, especially the pegassus tourney.
Sure its full of asspulls, but its so fun and it can get so fucking intense.
The rest of the series i found pretty meh with some good moments. Last season was fucking boring tho.
Never bothered with the other yugioh animes.
Okay, Grand Championship is better than Battle City. Mostly because it's short, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is fun as hell to watch. Waking the Dragons is fucking terrible. Duelist Kingdom was pretty cool. Battle City was cool at first, but then it just fucking dragged on and on. Oh yeah, check out GX, it's pretty decent
Yeah I know what you mean. I legit enjoyed them and if I watched them again, the only thing that would irritate me would be 4kids' removal of content. I thought Yusei's english va was okay and I love what they did with Chazz, he's so damn smug.
At least he finished his journey between the dimensions ...
>Two kids literally running around a room, chasing each other
the fuck is happening here are they playing tag
Nope. Other than his retrained counterpart, the only other card he shows up on that isn't exclusive to the anime is Triggered Summon.
I thought D.D. Survivor was Chain Trasher at first.
Whats your favorite card backstory /v/?
>Once Kuriboh lost his wings he became a shitty 2 star monster
>Chaos Scoerer became Caius
>Some of the Gihski cards became Neocloths
Yeah, power creep, who would have guessed.
Doesn't matter much, there are plenty of cards that punish special summoning, the ritual based deck of Necloths punishes your opponents extra deck pretty hard.
I always had him in this game.
Gravekeepers here, we killed Chaos and we're still kicking ass years later.
>always liked lightsworns
>whenever i used them, people got angry because they're boring to go against
>suddenly Konami decides it wants to make lightsworns the strongest shit ever
>now whenever i use them, people get angry because they're OP
I can't win
>this card was unbanned
Goes to show how insane the game is right now that even Raigeki is nothing for nowadays' cards.
You must reply to this post if you still think Jinzo is the tightest shit ever.
Jinzo is swag as fuck. He is also getting a searcher soon. Shit goes well in monarchs, and Jinzo/Majesty's Fiend combo is fucking great.
They banned monster reborn and heavy storm again though, and limited Bottomless Trap Hole so they're putting heavy emphasis on being able to call of the haunted. and use other special summons.
I like to think they limited bottomless just because it was ruining their shitty pendulum summon party
>I like to think they limited bottomless just because it was ruining their shitty pendulum summon party
there's tons of cards that remove monsters from play though, hell being removed from play was once considered a point of no return but now it might as well be a second graveyard.
It's not because of the removal, it's because bottomless can destroy a whole field of monsters if they're all summoned at the same instance.
I was playing duel network for awhile a year or two ago. Monster reborn was at either 1 or 2, jinzo was at 3, and mirror force was either 2 or 3.
monster reborn was at 1 for a while and it really never should have been unbanned. it could almost always turn the game around. jinzo was never too big a deal in the later formats, not everyone was dependent on traps. mirror force at 2 wasnt a big deal either because most cards had outs or protection and they were easily counterable,
I made a spellcounter deck that was pretty awesome though I'm sure it wouldn't get anywhere in the real world.
>They don't use a inferno tempest deck
Oh shit where did all your monsters go faggot? Kek
Ignore the banned cards I have updated it in a while
If only you could see the look on their faces when this (succesfully) happens.
BETWEEN ABARE USHIONI AND GAMBLER OF LEGEND ANON.
Yeah, I threw shit at the wall and kept what stuck.
I didn't know about all that shit. I just downloaded a better one. I mostly make these decks for fun, and I know I'm terrible at this
God one of my favorite games ever was against an amazoness swordswoman. I was against this guy that was doing a soul release, HP gain, fiber jar deck with dragons while I had a Dark Paladin deck. He kept removing all my shit over and over and over again and then resetting the board.
Finally I had 1400 LP left but managed to get Buster Blader and Sasuke Samurai on the field. Buster Blader was at something like 4300 with all the dragons in the guy's graveyard and I just kept hitting his face with Sasuke killing any cards he set, including his fiber jar. He had 800 LP left and top decked his swordswoman. He laughed and ran it into my buster blader, but then I flipped up my facedown trap: skill drain. So he killed himself and I had a cool 400 LP left.
I'm not saying Jinzo's the fucking greatest, but if this guy doesn't have a Jinzo palette I'm gonna be so fucking pissed.
What would be so different? Duelist of the Roses didn't follow any sort of Yugioh rules, you'd just be updating the game with more cards and adding a ton of new effects and play styles, it would add so much to the game.
Fuck we need someone to make a good mod so I can emulate it, and make it easier to rank up your damn Deck leader holy shit I played atleast 1000 duels and my Celtic Guardian only got as high as a Major
Over the Nexus was fun, despite the godawful load times. Sadly, it doesn't touch on Aporia/ZONE and doesn't include cards from Extreme Victory (the set with Junk Berserker.)
My favorite XYZ. Would love to use this in a Pyro deck.
I wasn't a fan of otk or lockdown decks. sure, it's great to deny your foe options but at it's most extreme, you're pretty much just playing by yourself. yugioh is a card game of monster battling for the most part and to have a battle you need an opponent. just my thoughts however.
I come from fighting games. The greatest fun is complete and total obliteration.
Yu-Gi-Oh makes that harder since luck plays a bigger element (unless I play Brawl), but my decks since 2008 were focused on snuffing all hope if it works
Eh, I am sure that style of play would leave your opponent feeling very unsatisfied after the duel. But to each their own. Lot of players hate decks like that and I don't wanna sap enjoyment from another player personally.
It's a card game. I don't play tourneys so there is never a need to kill my opponent in one turn. A game where everyone just wants to kill each on the first time is just damn stupid in my opinion.
I understand why you would use decks like that but for the sake of having some fun competition i dont use those decks often.
My decks tend to try to make lesser competitive decks competitive as playing Tier Zero and 1 decks against Tier Zero and 1 decks all day is boring as shit. As these decks aren't as good as top tier ones the opponent can hang in there longer and it makes for a fun match
Junk player here. Rocking a deck with mostly just Lv1 and 2 monsters. This Lv1 monster helps me Synchro Summon Fomula Synchron and I love it, even if there are better cards out there for that particular deck.
Literally Dragon Age Origins. Best example of cookiecutter shit done well. Just give it a try. Only bad thing about the game is pic related.
haha i know. not as bad as infernity doom dragon though.
>tfw I want a good insect deck but I'm a noob and a poorfag
Do insects have a good archetype or should I make a deck filled with various cards?
but that's what happens in the anime
you should use this card so you could have the ultimate insect waifu. [spoilers]who would then eat you after the date.[/spoilers]
but seriously, why not use verdant sanctuary and insect neglect? if you only use insect monsters, def throw in solidarity to give your monsters a huge atk boost.
Traptrix are "competitive." A pure traptrix deck less so but still good enough to be a pet deck.
Half of the archetype is plant though.
