Can someone tell me how HAL is able to make such memorable enemy designs?
I mean, Waddle Dees have one of the best designs in vidya.
>I mean, Waddle Dees have one of the best designs in vidya.
>implying Kirby isn't THE best design in vidya
What kirby games are you playing? I'm playing Superstar Ultra
Finally 100% Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe. Platinumming Secret C-R-O-W-N-E-D was a fucking nightmare. Anyways, here's the mask list of all the masks in the game for anyone interested.
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe Masks
>Kirby Mask: Have Triple Deluxe Streetpass Data on 3DS
>Meta Knight Mask: Have Triple Deluxe Streetpass Data on 3DS
>Waddle Dee Mask: Have Triple Deluxe Streetpass Data on 3DS
>Masked King Dedede Mask: Achieve Platinum Rank on all Normal Stages
>Taranza Mask: Achieve Platinum Rank on all Secret Stages
Gonna 100% Kirby Fighters Deluxe next. I already have the Alt.s you get for beating the Single Player on any difficulty, does beating it on Very Hard do anything special? If you beat all the abilities on Very Hard, will you unlock anything?
I haven't played Triple Deluxe, but generally in my experienced opinion, Kirby games have shit enemy designs. The shit enemy design extended into Brawl's Subspace emissary as well.
I also dislike both Kirby's and SSE's level design, they are often to bare bones and simplistic.
Despite this, why do I still love Kirby (and though SSE was beyond shit)?
I agree, most enemies in kirby games are blobs with eyes, or just a yellow bird, or just a chicken, or just an orange thing bouncing on a mushroom, or just a fireball with eyes, etc.
>BUT THE SIMPLICITY IS WHAT MAKES THE ENEMY DESIGN SO GREAT
Fuck off, either give a real reason as why Kirby's enemy design stands out, or deal with eating shit
So if I drew a blob with eyes, would you call it great because it was simple?
Is every simple design great? Simplicity doesn't make something great, simplicity is a factor that has no inherent good or bad qualities, but when there is nothing but simplicity, something else has to stand out to set that design apart.
I agree simplicity can be effective if there is something else about the design that you don't want to detract from, but that's it
Why are people debating Kirby's enemy design? You gotta be more specific.
Shinichi's simplistic and whimsical enemy design is drastically different from Sakurai's cartoonish and slapstick. Kumazaki's is a mix of the two.
LITERALLY THE BEST ENEMY DESIGN. IT'S GOOD BECAUSE IT'S SIMPLISTIC. IT SCREAMS ENEMY!
ONLY A MASTERFUL DESIGNER SUCH AS SAKURAI COULD DESIGN AN ENEMY AS APPEALING AS THIS! LITERALLY NO ONE LESS SKILLED COULD DO THIS.
I MEAN IT'S A PINK BALL WITH EYES! SO GOOD, BECAUSE IT'S SO SIMPLE!
Bronto burts are great though, you're dismissing a lot of its design, you can't tell me they're not memorable, they're one of the most iconic kirby enemies and its thanks to the
simplicityand easy to recognize elements
FUCK BRONTO BURT, I FOUND AN ENEMY EVEN SIMPLER, THEREFORE EVEN BETTER!
IF ONLY IT DIDN'T HAVE THOSE SPIKES AND THOSE EYEBALLS, IT WOULD BE THE SIMPLEST AND BEST ENEMY DESIGN OF ALL TIME.
chillit with the ass pain
Kirby threads are supposed to be chill, m8.
>Kirby Fighters Deluxe
>YOU...! Did you think I'd forget?! The time you smashed into me with your Hi-Jump! That time i was betrayed by Helpers! Or when i was replaced by that mechanical cloud! I-I... Sniff..there's something in my eye...
Kracko has character now
I FOUND THE LEAKED ENEMY DESIGNS FOR THE NEXT KIRBY GAME!
SOME OF THEM ARE A LITTLE TOO COMPLEX, BUT THEY'RE NOT TOO BAD
Hey, there's one flaw with this enemy design, why would a fish wear goggles underwat- HAHAHA OH I GET IT, IT'S IRONIC BECAUSE FISH LIVE UNDERWATER!
Its a standalone expanded version of Kirby Fighters, but without online its a bit hard to recommend unless you really like some kirby
Either way, on single player mode you fight kracko mid way with a cpu partner (since it has team battles now), and a team of mini dedede's and dedede for the final boss, where dedede takes his last shot at revenge according to the pause screen
how do you get this salty over the most inoffensive videogame in the universe
you have to actively try to get this mad over kirby
hey guys, just want to remind you that sailor waddle dee stayed on the ship as it sank, in the process killing himself for meta knight. meta knight later made amends with kirby, making sailor waddle dee's death pointless. sailor waddle dee is dead forever.
>didn't realize the Kirby Fighters/Dedede Drum's Dash are out
>had like 15 bucks on my card, figure I'll buy both
>buy Fighters, downloads fine
>go to buy Drum Dash
>error code: FAGGOT, try again later
>takes the money out of my bank anyway
>have to wait several days for the chargeback
This happens all the fucking time, get your shit together Nintendo, holy shit.
Daily reminder that Sailor Waddle Dee is dead.
>Metaknights subjects were so loyal they sacrificed themselves to slow you down
>you beat them all and metaknight anyway
>you were wrong the entire time
Everything about Kirby is just simple and fun though. Just look at Kirby's design and personality, a pink blob with red blob shoes.
It's all about easy fun anon, don't overthink it.
Rank the Waddle Dees from best to worst.
Parasol Dee > Sailor Waddle Dee > Bandana Dee
Am I going to get shit for this?
It's not, but checking made me realize that when I called Nintendo to get my old eshop games from my broken 3DS, not only did they give me 30 bucks in credit, but all my old games too. I thought they just gave me the money to rebuy my games, since there weren't too many.
On the actual Triple Deluxe game its just a small mini game, 4 stages
The eshop Drum Dash Deluxe is pretty fleshed out, 7 songs and secret mode which bumps it up to 14 levels in total
In case anyoen cares for the fighters dedede description
>VS Team DDD64/47/32/24 (if you lose and continue, it lowers the number of mini dees, 47, 32, 24, i think that's where it stops)
>The king is back, looking for a last shot at revenge. his members may be miniature, but they sure mean business! "Hey! You pesky pink puffball! Are you ready for a team battle? Then let's go!"
Different anon here, and it does.
My fastest with it was 29:33. I ditched the ability in the last fight and took on Soul of Sectonia the old fashioned way, that sped things up towards the end.
I'm gonna go back with different powers, but real niggas gotta fight the final battle naked.
Uh, doesn't say anything for me.
>mfw possessing one with Ghost Kirby thinking it would have some sort of incredible power but it couldn't do anything
Holy shit is the hypernova segments in Triple Deluxe absolutely horrifying, especially in the stage with the tubes
>kirby literally eats eels that probably were trying to survive
>waddle dees were asleep and then flip the fuck out when they realized they're gonna be killed by kirby
but yet this is kirby I'm talking about, murdering half the population since 1992
Oh I fucking forgot the fact that he gives no mercy to Sectonia, but she was already corrupt as shit wasn't she? I remember the description for her fight being dark as fuck
I just did a google image search, http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/6400000/Kirby-Super-Star-Ultra-kirby-6482523-1024-768.jpg it's just some official wallpaper that was edited, maybe you can make it yourself? I dunno
Assuming we're not counting full spin-offs (i.e not stuff like Avalanche or Pinball, but still counting Canvas Curse/Epic Yarn):
The easiest answer would be Kirby's Dream Land (for Game Boy), because it was superseded in every way by Super Star only 4 years later, but it feels cheap to pick on the first game in the series.
If the first one is off-limits, I'd go with Kirby's Dream Land 2, because Dream Land 3 did everything it did and did it better. I still like it, though.
I don't think I have a least favorite.
>playing RtD with friend, getting all the gears before taking on boss of an area
>brother wants to join in
>let him, he refuses to play as anyone but Waddle Dee
>we go into a stage with a shoe section with 20 lives
>my brother manages to make us game over MULTIPLE TIMES by trying as much as possible to get the shoe, dying every time he got it, and getting in the way of the person with the shoe
He is fucking 16, and we weren't even playing on Extra difficulty. How the fuck does someone be so bad at fucking kirby.
I'd probably go with Squeak Squad because it was too goddamn easy and I barreled through it in one afternoon (100%).
Also, I may get a ton of shit for this, but here goes:
I didn't like Kirby Air Ride as much as everyone else did.
This game took some skill to beat and those boss battle were great.
It's a shame that I will never experience playing this for the first time again.
I remember seeing totally-not-starfy in super princess peach, but that's about his for starfy's crossover appearancesas far as I know.
Here we go, got a picture of it (albeit a bit late) so no one thinks i made it up
Its probably just for very hard
Any of the gimmicky games that take a different course from the main mechanics. Like >>260743161 said, I don't hate them, I guess I just don't like change.
I recognize it's a problem...
Hey, guess you were right.
No idea. Me and my 10-year-old brother just finished co-op on RtDL Extra Mode today.
He was Kirby, I was Dedede. It was super fun.
I can't enjoy Kirby anymore. I've just gotten too good at platformers. There are hardly any difficult jumps and all the enemies just stand there stupidly. I'm glad that the series is evolving, but it's still too easy.
You're playing it wrong then retard, kirby's less about platforming and more about action and beat em up, shining through specially through boss battles, hence why the arenas
Kirby's not trying to be a hurdcur platformer with mega hard jumps and dodging, that's not the point
>the whole fucking sequence with nonstop bosses in the end
>all battles have different music tracks
It was amazing. It just kept going and the music changed to fit the mood each time.
I like how the Japanese name for the second-phase song made the final battle have more meaning, too.
The levels are fun, but I think the draw, especially in the newer games, is the boss battles. Kirby bosses always seem to be a good mix between "whale on 'em til they die" in beat 'em ups and "dodge and attack the weak point" of Zelda/Mario games
post cool kirby personifications
the ??? tag on pixiv has some cool ones
>tfw i first learned taranza was a guy
I didn't mind one bit
>sailor waddle dee
No anon, he fell into the deep water and was transformed into the Slithery-Dee.
I'm really enjoying them, but I'm a big kirby nut so dropping 15$ for both was no problem, but i can see it not being as worth it for others
If you ask me, Drum Dash is the best value just for the amount of content and challenge, for fighters you miss out on a lot of potential fun if you don't have friends to play with since HAL is afraid of online
>Implying platinum dee is WDOAT
It's in the ability room you get for beating the game (Or 100% it anyway, not sure)
It's basically a punching bag
Also, about the room itself, you can get to it by going down from the first world on the world map
Both of them are amazing. I hesitated at first despite being a huge Kirby fanatic, but once I started playing them I was hooked.
Fighters Dedede on Very Hard being one of the hardest bosses in the series and Drum Dash being extra challenging near the end were pleasant surprises. It's scary how tough Kirby games can get!
>tfw so high you read it as crispy woods at least 3 times
Oh shit huh right, I guess that's a different way of doing it then.
I just thought the Triple meant it was a collection of 3 minigames or something like that, a bit like what Superstar Ultra is
i love hope biscuit's kirby design
So is there a Kirby game guide? As in, a guide that tells you what the best and essential Kirby games are.
I heard a friend say that no Kirby games are really good, they are more like just 7-8/10 games. Is that true?
He got it backwards, no kirby games are inherently bad, some are just okay, but a lot are really great
this sorta works, what you need to take out of it, play super star ultra
and don't pussy out on me, 100% that bitch, True Arena included
Don't think about it
I really dislike this guide since it advises playing the Dark Matter trilogy out of order, among other things.
I set my little into the series starting with Nightmare in Dream Land and then we went release order, excluding games that had remakes.
>even included squashini
good taste in bosses
Remove that "the".
I was thinking more about the rule type than the full games, actually. 20th is good, but a bit too easy in story mode. I hadn't tried it on hard mode yet, but since 15th becomes way way harder if you up the difficulty I do hope 20th at least becomes somewhat of a challenge.
I wish they made a remake of the classic one.
It's on the short side, even for a Kirby game, but the music is fantastic (even for a Kirby game), and the 3D is fantastic. It's also a delicious buttery 60FPS so the game looks amazing.
Also one of the best final boss battles in the whole series.
My only complaints would be that the last world reeks of padding, and that as someone who hates rhythm games I'm missing out on a big chunk of the game. Also Dedede Mode could have been handled better, though having its own unique final boss is nice.
>Kirby's nightmare in dreamland had amazing music
I'd still say adventure is very good, its just a matter of preference really
if you want honesty, its probably the newer generation who grew up with a GBA as supposed to a NES
If you don't mind no meta knight mode, 3D Classics Adventure is arguably the best choice for playing it
You know, Dreamland 2 said that Dark Matter (in that game) was an outcast of his kind and just wanted friends. Further, Gooey is also a dark matter and is friends with Kirby. Could Dark Matter have befriended Kirby after his defeat?
Gooey himself showed up as a character in Deam Land 2, just not a main friend.
The Dark Matter in Dream Land 2 was abusive and thought friendship equated to control, Kirby ultimately killed it.
Well, I've still got to 100% canvas curse, only recently got to it after finally getting a flash cart, I loved it, but I've just spent a lot more time on Mass Attack and had a bit more fun on it, its just so full of things, big ass mini games, and really unique levels
Gooey was different to the others, though.
He has a unique form and seems to be unlike any other Dark Matter ever encountered. As I said though, Kirby killed the Dark Matter Swordsman.
Need tips on Beetle other than "abuse invincibility frames".
Like, I need to know the right times to attack, or how to deal with patterns.
Especially that fucking lava frog.
I wish to hug him while he's relaxing with a nighttime smoke
Well then mass attack for sure, even after getting all the medals I've still yet to get fill achievement list, and sometimes you spend more time on the mini games than the main game itself
Canvas Curse does have a good amount of things, its got medals and a lot of challenge stages and playing through different characters, though I don't know if it can compete with MA
What is your favorite boss music?
I quite like Zero Two, makes the battle a lot more tense. And it fits the character we are fighting (Who is the most horrifying kirby character ever conceived, and should return)
Why is Mass Attack the only Kirby game where no-damage runs are required for 100% and also the hardest fucking game to control? What were they thinking?
kirby triple deluxe is the worst kirby game in the series (still a good game though)
its too slow and not even remotely challenging unlike other kirby games.
post sakurai kirby is a sad sad thing
no it's not. I have all kirby games ever made and I can honestly say triple deluxe is far too slow paced and easy to be a real good kirby game.
It is probably the worst kirby game ever made next to avalanche, and avalanche was great by normal game standards.
the running speed, action speed, and game engine speed in general is laughable and speed is a huge deal.
just use the wheel for, its a joke how slow it goes. triple deluxe is a kirby game for 3 year old children. almost like the devs thought they had to make a parody of a Kirby game, or thought it was expected of Kirby games to be very slow and easy and overly bright and plasticy (to think there was once a time when kirby games were known for their amazing graphics)
Although the key-chains and hearts show that the dev's hearts were in the wrong place, the engine's easy and slow game-play really makes it a Kirby game no where near as good as amazing mirror, superstar, or the original dreamland series.
Also, you missed one, as >>260784527 said
Avalanche doesn't count as a Kirby Game. It's Puyo Puyo (the worst Puyo Puyo for that matter) with Kirby paint on it.
You may not like Triple Deluxe, but it is still not the worst title in the series. That honor belongs to Squeak Squad for being stupidly short.
Triple Deluxe only because no OP Spark ability.
Really though SSU could be beaten by spark or hammers(for some dumb reason the final 4 can be beaten with up swings)
RtDL again Spark was OP. It even deflected the blobs thrown at you.
Triple deluxe, After the 2 final bosses, You get a Soul boss...and it has 2 phases
Pyribbit is terrible. Tips:
>whale on him whenever you get the chance
>If he hops into the background to spew rocks, destroy them before they hit the ground (up+B)
>If he hops into the lava to do the bouncing attack, either wait at where he's going to stop or just attack him with your up+B when he bounces into the foreground
am I the only one that likes miracle matter's theme more than zero two's theme?
>this nigger again
here i thought you were done bringing up your autism so often
Nah, but the main boss theme was better than both.
>mfw this thread is still alive after 9 hours
To me the top 3 designs in vidya is Kirby
Tales of (enemies. Especially Vesperia and Xillia 2 are the very, very far heights but Symphonia is a not so distant 3rd. Abyss was shit in this regard)
And Shadow of the Collsi but I feel cheating with that so I'll say Demon Souls in its place. Bloodborne looks promising, Dark Souls unfortunately had too many generic looking fuckers but the occasional incredible guy like the grass creatures in the forest.
Rate my shit taste /v/
oh puh-lease, the cool factor at the end wasn't on the health bar alone, it was on the fucking laser and stage and petals being sucked in
Like he doesn't do that all the time.
You know how kirby has a huge empty space inside of him? It's been my fan wet-dream for the final battle of a game to take place inside of kirby (Like sucking up meta-knight and the boss)
My favorite Kirby, if not favorite game ever. A lot is nostalgia, but it really has that Kirby feel that makes you smile no matter what. It also has one of the best aesthetics and soundtracks ever. And Checkerboard Chase is the GOAT minigame
Not that anon but his grabs do the throw/suplex animations, but I think he wants it like in adventure where instead of kirby grabbing the enemy with his hands, he sucks the enemy in and then simply throws the fucker across the stage
>Sectonia after-imaging all over the place
SHIT GOT REAL
Am I the only one that feels annoyed of a character having a neat design, get introduced in one game, and then not only get killed, but double killed?
What is this "mirror" people talk about, I played through the game(main game), is there something I missed?
True that It isn't so challeging and way too slow. However, why do you care about that? Just play the game. Less complaining, more playing.
Kirby fighting game when
>could have had cool shit like Galacta Knight and Adeleine fighting
>Could have brought back all the no longer used characters from older games
>different kirby abilities are different fighters
>Instead we get fucking Pokken
But it's already happened.
It really does suck, which is why there's Sectonia sympathizers, mainly because of the Dimensional Mirror from the Metroidvania GBA game, and the fact that when you face her at the end of True Arena, her info card hints at Taranaza being her friend.
