Video game companies are companies, and they might make shit video games, and we might disagree with the way they're doing things, their goal is to make money first and foremost.

Do any of you people actually know anyone who you know for sure has never touched a single video game even once in their entire lives, including browser games and smartphone games? The definition of what can be called "a gamer" is very broad and includes most people in first-world countries. Almost everybody can be called "a video gamer". Judging by that term is an inherently flawed way to try to determine how much video games are consumed by the different genders. Trying to paint the video game market as being equally split between genders solely because just as many females as males have ever played a video game in their lives is extremely misleading.

A much more sensible and logical way to do that is to look at time and money spent on video games by gender. If you do that, it looks more like the market is about 25% female and 75% male, a much more realistic-sounding figure.
