She's my main. Mak isn't able to launch explosive offense off of a Hayate anymore in SF4 due to the pushback leaving her out of range for a Karakusa follow up without complex Kara motions.

Her axe kick (Tsurugi) is a LOT better now. The physics on it are completely different and landing the mk version lets you do a full combo on a grounded opponent. You can even link U1 off of it.

Don't worry about frames, combos, ANYTHING, until you learn the absolute basics. Pick up any street fighter game (just because it's very basic for the most part). Pick the most basic character, most likely Ryu or Ken. Then work on being able to perform each move 5 times in a row. Once you can do that, do them all 10 times in a row. Then 15, then 20, then 25. At that point you've gotten basic inputs down.

Next, you want to learn about footsies and mixups. Be wary of which game you're playing and the type of mixups/footsies you'll be using. 3s is mainly based around chains and target combos, SF4 is mostly links. Learn how to do simple mixups like tick throws and cross-ups, then just evolve from there. Sit in practice mode just trying new things until you feel comfortable with your character. Now start learning very basic combos, like crouching medium kick to hadouken, or standing/crouching fierce punch to tatsu.

To learn how to actually play a game should only take about a month. After that, it's learning how to play matchups and specific characters.

When fighting watch what your opponent does, try and figure out what you did wrong, what they did right. If you fight someone who uses a character you like, see how they do things.
Get the shit kicked out of you, fight people vastly superior to you, with one goal in mind. Don't get perfected. This will teach you how to block and predict things, as well as looking for openings for your own pokes and hits. That sort of thing will come in useful later. Use everything in every situation, just to see how/if it works.

Man, Vega was the hardest match for me to learn. For a good while I just accepted the fact that I was going to lose whenever I had to fight a Vega.

Against the shitty players who just spam wall dives and shit, you need to go into training mode and practice countering that. You can also try focusing out and dashing. Don't try to AA him unless you know it's going to work, just move out of the way and try to get a better position. Once you catch them on the ground you can usually just jump in all day and shit.

A good Vega though, fuck. You just get poked and grabbed to death. Have fun.

SF4 was ruined by auto-block and invul on so many non-ex SRKs. Turned it into this guessing game. Also, fireball spam in SF4 sucks, fireball recovery in sf3 was so much longer, made it totally non-spmmable.
