>gen 3 was utter garbage
Confirmed for genwunner faggot
Goddamn, I used to defend some of game freaks stuff because the majority of it really wasn't bad. Sure you could say "lel keys", but we got cool designs like Pangoro, Clawlitzer, and Hawlucha. This is just fucking terrible and I honestly can't defend it or its inclusion.
What the fuck happened to 4chan?
Threads get automatically archived when they 404? No way.
>We’re trialling delayed thread pruning on specific boards. While not a true archive, threads on /a/ and /v/ will continue to be accessible for a period of 48 hours after being pushed off of the board index. We may roll this out to additional worksafe (blue) boards in the future, as well as increase or reduce the retention period.
What the fuck is going on at Gamefreak? I don't consider myself a nostalgiashitter, I thoroughly enjoyed Black and White and Black and White 2. But some of designs in XY were just fucking atrocious. I mean we got some fucking awesome looking Pokemon, but quite a few were flat out stupid looking. And now this?
Pokemon's recent designs are terrible because of two major things, over design and uncreative design.
Find me a pokemon from after Gen 3 that doesn't have six hundred stripes, color changes, spikes and dots, or isn't obvious that Ken just looked around his house to make it, and I'll show you a good pokemon.
Fuck off if you think the new designs aren't mostly bad, you're a fucking retard with a brain literally on par with a child's.
Slowbro evolves with it on it's tail, so as Slowpoke changed, so did the Shellder.
>Find me a pokemon from after Gen 3 that doesn't have six hundred stripes, color changes, spikes and dots,
I actually like the design.
It's simple and it works. Better than some overdesigned edgelord mon. It fits with everything Slowbro is.
I mean, if he turned into some kind of DBZ anime faggot with cannon arms or some shit, THAT would've upset me.
The guy you qouted is retarded and I fucking hate it when people think more than 3 colors is suddenly over-design, but he wasn't saying there AREN'T any after Gen 3. Its just becoming really prevalent. Shit, Mega Slowbro is fairly simple but its a really bad concept.
>How can we make a Panda bear a battle monster?
>We could give it large, bear like claws? Or keep the design simple, to press the idea that it is a wild animal?
>Lol nah cape and mouth stick
Don't mention that pokemon, you'll attract that weird "Goodra should be female" fucker.
No, I mean the stupid Pokemon are getting worse.
I'll use Muk as an example(I like it, but a lot of people hate it). Its just a big pile of sludge, but slimes really aren't anything new and it wasn't really an eyesore. Some of these new Pokemon are starting to be eyesores.
Maybe its just me after all, I'll consider that. But can anyone really defend this?
>goodra is fine
It really isn't.
Ignoring the shitposters and porn, because that's a stupid way to judge a pokemon, and it's dumb to even go "Oh no, you might attract their attention", it's pretty much Dragonite 2.0, and it's not even that good of a pokemon to make it worth getting.
I mean, I'm fine with Dragonite and all, but with Goodra and all the other stuff in X and Y it seemed like they were trying to reconstruct RGBY.
>talking shit about banchou bear
My problem is that these new Pokemon have unnecessary stripes and shit.
Like that thing. Why does it have orange stripes? What purpose do they serve? And its orange cheeks? Why are those on him? and why is his nose area orange? What does having an orange nose area accomplish?
You both have shit taste. And the first poster could literally criticize ANYTHING like that.
>talking shit about war turtle
It resembles a typical Japanese delinquent. Think Jotaro from JoJo if you're somehow unfamiliar with them.
It's actually a pretty good design because it isn't overdesigned and it looks cool. It's also one of the few newer designs that don't have random shapes all over their bodies or that look like shit.
And the ones that don't have random shapes all over their bodies tend to just BE random shapes. Togekiss is an example, you couldn't even tell what fucking shape it was without looking at the official art because there's no logic or sense to it.
hey wait a minute...don't you faggots have your own place to discuss your garbage games? that's right
I thought Skrelp/Dragalge had a pretty cool design based off a real world animal.
>being this butthurt about pokemon designs
Which reminds me.
Why the fuck don't you have an IRL pokemon, /v/?
Wait, did it just de-evolve Blaziken?
Shame the typing is fucktarded. It's an algae, so grass and water are much more logical types than poison and dragon. Poison I can understand, but dragon comes from literally nowhere and there's no hint towards it aside from the name.
It's one of those monsters that you have no fucking way of knowing the type of without looking it up. Also related: the Golurk line. A robot/mecha, and they want us to think it's ground/ghost? That's bullshit.
>Find me a pokemon from after Gen 3 that doesn't have six hundred stripes, color changes, spikes and dots, or isn't obvious that Ken just looked around his house to make it
Pokemon always had unnecessary stripes. It was never a 1:1 evolutionary(in the actual sense) decision.
You oversimplified the Aegislash line a good deal. Possesed sword that drains people who try to hold it is a lot different from "lolsword"
Not defending him but they Voltorb is supposed to be a mimic which was a standard thing in JRPGs so his design makes sense. Design isn't creative but it worked for that game.
The garbage sludge pokemon both work for thier particular theme- Pollution. Why do people hate these designs so much when they clearly work with their concept.
>t dragon comes from literally nowhere and there's no hint towards
Are you retarded? Seahorses were also known as seaDRAGONS
How can you be this ignorant?
Don't worry guys, they're just mega evolutions.
We can pretend they don't exist and wait for more crossgens.
No. fucking. shit.
They literally have you Pokéflute a Snorlax awake, the whole game is a love letter to RBY.
>it's not even that good of a Pokémon
>I'm fine with Dragonite
What a pleb.
>Find me a pokemon from after Gen 3 that doesn't have six hundred stripes, color changes, spikes and dots, or isn't obvious that Ken just looked around his house to make it, and I'll show you a good pokemon.
uhhh the latest gen actually had pokemon that felt like they were designed for the first three gens. I thought they did a pretty good job with them actually.
Because the concept is stupid, we already have Muk, and stylistically its just BAD. Garbage bags with eyes and random pieces of shit.
Muk and Grimer are brightly colored, simple, and sport an atypical design.
>Mimics look like things they're trying to mimic? What a concept!
>But vanillite is shit
>Screws, eyes and metal balls are now magnets
>but MAGNETmite doesn't have magnets around his body
>What is a slime? I've never played an rpg before!
>What is a garbage monster? I've never played games\ read comics or watched TV before
Why do you choose as examples Pokemon that have the lowest possible chance of receiving evolutions?
I'm obviously talking about Pokemon like Absol, Sableye, Heracross, etc.
Ones that are begging for real evolutions.
Charizard is already a final and legendaries don't evolve.
People say megas are final because a lot of megas have one or two more stages that could have been put it place. I assume its because of the backlash Gen 4 got. I'd much rather have branching evolutions that megaevos.
>But vanillite is shit
Oh yeah, remember all those icecreams in the overworld that, when you tried to pick up, would attack you? Me too...
>but MAGNETmite doesn't have magnets around his body
But he isn't A magnet. You said that he was a singular physical magnet.
>What is a garbage monster? I've never played games\ read comics or watched TV before
Why are comics and tv relevent? Pokemon is primarily an RPG. Not a comic or tv show.
Pretty much all Mega Evolutions are absolute shit and look like some literal edgy teenager drew them
Mega Evolution themselves are absolutely retarded and have no place in the franchise imo
If it werent for the anime adaptation that sold the evolutions a bit better than the game i probably would have drawn the line
However the red special + x/y anime are fantastic. Its as if they wanna end the anime because for the first time ash isnt a idiot and actually trains, makes strategies and has a girl who openly wants his dick
Also eureka is one of the most adorable characters ive seen in a long time
Cause Muk's design concept is basically slime and it makes sense for him to be simple like that.
Garbador is a creature created by the garbage from the pollution and it make sense for him to have a disjointed amount of shit on him
Both designs are fine and work for the pollution theme but in completely different ways
Floating possessed swords are an old fantasy staple, espacially in Japan. They've been in Castlevania, Boktai, Warcraft etc.
You catch vanillite by getting it instead of an icecream cone on a certain day in Castellia City. It hops out of the cart and attacks.
>Oh yeah, remember all those icecreams in the overworld that, when you tried to pick up, would attack you? Me too...
No, but I also don't remember fighting an electrode sometimes when picking up a pokéball.
>But he isn't A magnet. You said that he was a singular physical magnet.
>Why are comics and tv relevent? Pokemon is primarily an RPG. Not a comic or tv show.
Pokémon is also a game. Pokémon borrows a lot of things from Japanese culture, shouldn't it borrow it because it is a RPG?
This whole argument is "dumb".
Anyone can say anything and just keep posting "nuh-uh" "yeah-huh", and continuously argue about what makes what unnecessary.
That's not even going into the fact that this is a series about colorful monsters made to be captured and trained by children, who gives a fuck about certain details of certain Pokemon when there are hundreds of others to choose from, and if you hate those too you don't even need to be in a thread about them
over designed in my opinion
no zebra has stripes like this
EVs can be viewed and trained with the Super Training minigame.
IV's can't be seen until postgame, and you can only tell what your best ones are. Destiny knot makes it crazy easy to breed for good ones, though.
living swords are a thing in mythologies the world over
in old times Yurop people who were killed in combat were buried with their swords, with the blade bent out of shape. Because, you know, the sword's spirit also had to be killed so the other party wouldn't have to fear vengeance
>Find me a pokemon from after Gen 3 that doesn't have six hundred stripes, color changes, spikes and dots
Here you go.
>that worried look on its face
>"please don't kill me"
Sugimori barely ever designed any of the mons.
>looks like something out of Dragon Quest
>okay, but could've been much better
>kind of weird, but okay
That's not really a decent number, especially with all the megas being just awful.
Nobody flips their shit when they say they don't like Persona 2 or Digimon world or Spyro
Really, whether it's a bro or sis
or husbando or waifu, Cinccino's just the best.
Why do Shelder, Grimer, Jynx, Magnemite line, Slowpoke line, Psyduck, Tangela, Magikarp and Porygon have the same eyes?
I give you these, although Espurr and its evolutions feel kind of bare bones to me.
It's just that megas made me lose almost all faith in Gamefreak and seeing what they did to my (Slow)bro was the last straw.
>Slowpoke has a delayed reaction to pain and injury
>When it evolves into Slowbro or Slowking, there is a shellder biting it and it still doesn't register pain
>Mega Slowbro has a look of concern on its face, meaning that whatever has been happening to it inside of Shellder has been happening quite some time
That Slowbro is far gone
Lots of the latest designs are kind of simple actually. Then again simple=/=good, "overdesigned"=/=bad.
OH SHIT LOOK WHAT JUST GOT LEAKED. MEWTHREE CONFIRMED
u wot m8
>This song is so beautiful. I remember back a long time ago, it was June 6th 2009, I was only five years old, turning 6 on June 29th. It was my first Pokemon game, and it was hard to play, and I didn't understand half the words they said. The only thing I understood is that I was on a journey to catch, tame, and train animals. I chose Piplup. It was all worth it. Taking forever to beat Gardenia because I didn't know about type match ups. When I was about eight in summer, I beat the Pokemon League after many attempts. All worth it. I still have the game now, with my beloved Pokemon, including my Empoleon. I imagine what it is like for one of my friends at school, he started playing Ruby and Sapphire at the age of 3, and now he's 11. I'm 11 too now, and whenever I here this song, it makes me cry. If Game Freak ever remakes this game, I will be so happy. I have a feeling that I won't be buying the Pokemon games when I'm twenty or thirty years old, but I'll be making them in the studio with Game Freak someday. Thank you Nintendo and Game Freak for making such fabulous games, thank you mom and dad for buying the game, thank you my friends for getting me into Pokemon by bringing your Pokemon cards to school , you brought so much to me, I will never forget you, even when I am dead.
Gen 3 was the first to have a staunch change in style. It is the gen with the most "serious" pokemon and the first to spark the whole "over use of black and spikes".
this mostly ended when 4 starting bringing back the more "cute" designs.
>Mega Slowbro is the Shellder perfecting it's parasitic relationship with Slowpoke so it takes over it's motor functions like those brain zombie ants. Slowbro looks fearful because he's powerless to stop it and realizes he no longer has control over his own body
If you proclaim your favourite to be the best to as many people as you possibly can, some of those people will check to see if it is the best or not and they will point out flaws and gripes.
To which the proclaimer will dismiss as vicious attacks on their opinions.
It's not really it's own Pokemon. It's a "mega evolution", which only lasts for the battle, and it basically makes Pokemon like digimon.
Given that, it doesn't really have a name. It's just a mega slowbro.
slowbro should have seen the signs
Game Freak are a bunch of hacks now. This is just the final nail in the coffin after the crapshoot that is Fairy, and the shitfest that is Gen 6 as a whole.
ACTUALLY, it could go either way. It could be white with black stripes because the black stripes all end whereas the rest is white, or it could be considered black with white stripes because its skin is mostly black.
>a seahorse is an algae
What the dick am I reading?
Game Freak were always hacks as seen with the shitfest Gen 1 was and the shitfest Gen 2 almost was until Iwata single-handedly saved it, and even that still has big design issues
ITT: People with rose-tinted glasses on getting angry over monster designs for a children's game
Some pokemon aren't cut out to be doctors.
I like it, it's unique, full of character and makes sense.
too bad satoshi sucks and is limiting the series potential.
we could have a new MC every season but no we have to keep this little shit who is retarded also never wins anything relevant.
Playing anything pre-gen 4
Note: Is not that I didn't like gen2 remakes isjust that they didn't fix any problems and felt outdated at times, specially post E4
>Pearl and Diamond
You have successfully rustled my jimmies
It's Diamond and Pearl you fucking faggot
Fixed your image. Do some research the next time you wan't to shitpost about things you have no knowledge of
>yfw you realize she's wearing ripped stockings
>mfw the new lopunny porn on boorus and pixi
>there are people out there that hate Aegislash
>People think Toriyama has deteriorated and lost his marbles and praise his 90's brilliance
Shame Nishida's just making Eeveelutions now.
>Sugimori's only edge over Nishida is that Zoroark failed to be Newcario
Favorite Gen VI designer is that Ariga. He's a pretty cool dude.
Best Psychic type
