Bungie's been ripping off 40K for decades. This was bound to happen.
What? So far Destiny seems like a more simplified Star Wars, with an aura of Mass Effect and Halo surrounding it.
>TFW you first visit the tower and it gives you memories of ME1s citadel.
>I can't have a 40k thread without shitting on someone elses fun time
40k is a poor man's Dune.
Just about every action and war movie from the 70s and 80s.
But Dune is the primary influence.
If you are interested in 40k, don't bother with 40k. Just read Dune, Heinlein, and watch Star Trek. Maybe read Dredd if you're looking for a comic. You'll get all the good parts of 40k, and you'll be reading better literature and thus not pollute your mind.
Dredd is mind pollution, but it's still better than most comic books.
But it's a mashup of all of them. Some of us like it for the mash-up that it is because it takes from good source material and lots of it. Sure the final result isn't perfect but it's better than a lot of other settings.
>mfw EYE is a french man's 40k
>mfw 40k is a rich mans Destiny
>mfw GW are thieving cunts
GW are thieving cunts because they have to be, otherwise they wouldn't make any profits.
They're stubborn as fuck about their manufacturing process, refusing to automate their processes or open up new manufacturing sites.
Its a lot more Halo than mass effect, obviously since its Bungie. The sparrow and pike feel exactly like a ghost / brute chopper mash up. The Fallen AI are exact copies of the elites and jackals on normal mode, etc.
But for mass effect, the equipment designs for one. Guns, armor, the special abilities, and the Tower being like the citadel, the atmosphere for me felt almost the same, except online.. and no quests.
>Paying 11,500 burger dollars for little plastic men
It's true they keep squeezing the hobby shops but that is not necessarily an indication GW itself is hurting.
I think its more to do with this >>255483239
I mean their prices have just kept rising and whenever they've had sales or deals its always been bottom of the barrel stuff like the little scenery pieces like three drum barrels and an ammo case. On top of that they dont want you using non GW kits or paints etc which is kind of understandable but justified when other companies produce some better and much cheaper kits/paints
Also cause of the price they are slowly losing customers and with shit like >>255482657 its less about the hobby more about the money
>Start a cadian army
>box of 20 cadians is £15.00
>box of 20 cadians rises to £18.30
>box of 10 cadians is £20.00 last time I checked
>mfw they dont even try to justify this
A lot of it is due to their refusal to modernize, expand and automate their manufacturing process.
Currently they still do everything by hand, all the machines are operated by hand, even the packaging is done by hand.
Cheap 3D printing when? GW needs to die.
>But Dune is the primary influence.
Always funny when people say this, but even going back to 40K 1st ed. and comparing it to Dune there are hardly any similarities at all. Just a bunch of Dune fags who are butt hurt their preferred setting is relatively disliked.
>ruins the experience = poorfag
Typical reply. Not what I was getting at. The whole point of the hobby is to collect and build your army piece by piece, improving as you go.
The fun of the hobby is playing against your friends and winning or losing then thinking "If I had a librarian I could..." then heading to the store that weekend and buying a new unit or units and building and glueing them then using them in the next game with different units, terrain, rules objectives etc
Just buying it all in one is just no fun.
>Just bought $11,500 worth of plastic models
>Probably wont build and glue all of them
>too many units to field in your typical game
>could have saved that,
>could have had multiple vacations etc
Also if you feel that sorry for me and have that cash send it to me
Its my fav series, even with 3s ending. The characters and world is just too good to pass up on, the reaper plot was always the weakest part of the games anyway so I expected it to be crap, same with the collector plot in 2. It doesn't stop 2 from being my fav game of last gen though.
Will it be good?
Not him but:
It's far more than the ending.
It starts as a game where you can explore space and different cultures of aliens. Cultures that are fundamentally different , wierd , bizzare. Something that can be developed further and further.
And then suddenly it's not about aliens but about drama and the aliens become some sort of background. The more wierd ones remain undeveloped while the humanized ones get more spotlight.
Any options you ever had get reduced and reduced. Even the damn dialogues get less options.
It degraded in every aspect other than combat. But the combat never was really good so it focused on the worst thing it had.
It's not a sudden fall. It's something that constantly gets downgraded.
EYE, a secret group of Cyber-Psychic-Warrior Monks, is in the middle of a coup against the federation to help the Secreta gain power, but there's an internal conflict between the Culter and Jian factions that halts their progress. Also there's an unknown alien energy known as Metastreumonic force that takes the form of monsters that cause trouble for everyone. Halfway into the game you have to choose where your loyalties lie, your longtime Mentor, the Culter leader Rimanah or the Federation. Then you do what they say until the "end" of the game.
After which, the game really begins.
Pray. Pray to chaos or emps or whatever that the shop does not destroy it. Pray that they do termies, meganobz and wraithguard well. Pray it isn't a shitty space marine on a huge map.
>everyone loves the setting
Speak for yourself, dumbass.
No chance. p2w even before start + all the quality stuff show so far is from reused assets.
>all of this mad
Upset that nobody likes your homosexual relationships with aliens simulator?
There are a lot of War Hammer games, some are good. You need to be more specific.
I can't get into 40k
It feels like a child wrote it. Look at the powers of the characters, the big guy is literally named God King Emperor of Mankind. Is that supposed to be a joke? When you were little did you ever play pretend with your friends and insist you 'got' them but they made up some bullshit like 'NUH UH MY ARMOR IS MAGIC AND STOPS EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE' It's like someone started making a character design and didn't stop until he could cram every idea ever onto a foot soldier and for the bros some gross out humor like replacing their balls with grenades
it's also for nerds who think DnD is passé
Then what is your stance on the god emperor from dune ?
Ecclesiarchy is best
Everything else in 40k comes second
Pray anon. It's all we can do while we wait. Pray the cash shop doesn't ruin the game. Pray the whims of the founders don't ruin the game. Pray we get decent and varied classes and not space marine on a bigger map.
Also pray Miguel learns english and we get more info from the developers , not the community managers and marketers.
I believe you are a faggot sir.
Or perhaps a git.
in my opinion.
Wut u sayz panzee ? I bash ye and I smash ye with me boyz!
>Implying that orks are nothing more than mob of retards the Eldar manipulate with ease.
Also, orks can't stand against mah dakkafaces. A bunch of these will fuck up an ork mob of any size.
I strongly disagree with you. 2 started the downgrade. The only thing that got improved was combat.
But whatever. Nobody ever stops arguing on which ME is better. Go buy ME4 and be done with it. I won't.
Not him, but albeit ME1 was great for it's Space Opera feeling and absence of the action-hero elements, it was still a pretty bad game from a gameplay standpoint.
All optional quests took place on essentially the same, randomly generated "planet" with a different color and maybe 1/2 the game consisted of totally uninspired driving around in empty environments.
Compared to BG2 or KotOR it was quite lacking.
Nah. In fluff, the Eldar are not pushovers to space marines, unless they are being led by plot armored special characters, and in the actual tabletop, Eldar are the superior army when compared to muhreens.
The fucking conversations are made by edgy 15-year old dipshit.
>first conversation where you can side with federation
>choose the option that goes something like "I've waited for this opportunity, sure I'll help"
>the federal guy literally says, from word-to-word: "YOU SOUND DISHONEST, PREPARE TO DIE!"
what the fuck
I want a fucking mod that fixes all of this shit
wat? They've always been white brit football hooligans.
Dakkafacez ey ? Deyz gud I gibz you dat. Dem rest of ye boyz be gits dough. Wez gonna squash ye !
Daily reminder that everything orks loot becomes batter
40K thread niggers.
I'm really hoping on Deathwing, but frankly the team developing it are nobodies in the game industry. Its quite a small team IIRC. They don't even have a release date for it, so it could potentially be out end of 2015...maybe even 2016. Still they did release a AAA quality trailer. Now they just need a big backing publisher to fuck things up and we may see this game launch.
>There will never be a Final Liberation sequel
They don't really need to go too big. Make a good co-op game with singleplayer options.
The space hulks already provide them with tons of ideas on what could be inside. Termies are customizeable as fuck.
The one thing I fear is them making the game dark as fuck, so much that you can't see shit. E.Y.E felt like that to me.
Well either way, nothing good left in 2014. I guess 2015 will be the year of 40k.
Honestly I'd just be happy with good gameplay mechanics and voice overs now. The graphics have already sold themselves.
Games Workshop is a bunch of Jews. They used to keep really tight control on their IP (partially because of WAR tarnishing WFB). But now they're letting a lot of developers share the rights, and we're getting a TON of games, and most of them sound interesting.
>and we're getting a TON of games, and most of them sound interesting
All of the announced games are literally phone tier, Space Hulk excepted.
Because GW invested money into a billion dollar vidya once upon a time. Then Blizzard pulled out, ran away with the money and renamed the mostly finished game Warcraft.
nope warcraft never had such budget man
Like others have said I think GW originally wanted to make games with Blizzard, but GW backed out for whatever reason, leaving Blizzard with a half (if not fully) finsihed game, so they just chnaged some names about and published it, and then made history!
The sad thing is the original Warhammer Online (WO) - by Climax was going to be released a bit before WoW, but due to GW pulling out due to a larger then expected budget, the IP for warhammer bounced around loads before Mythic grabbed it and actually finished it.
There are many many older (and worse) WH and 40k games, Shadow of the Horned Rat, Realm of Chaos, Rites of War, Final Liberation, etc. But those were turn based games, basicly computerised versions of table top games.
Thes also a Bloodbowl game out that is inch for inch a digital version of the game. THough there are rumours of a FPS in the form of Space Hulk on the way...
No, just no.
Blizzard started WC and was negotiating for GW to allow them to attach it to the Warhammer IP. Games Workshop wanted way more control and money than was reasonable to any company because they'd ripped of Tolkein before Blizzard did. Blizzard had to change everything to prevent GW from suing them.
GW made a horrendous business decision because that the only kind of business decision they know how to make.
Warcraft was made for six bucks and a case of piss weak American beer. Now Blizzard is massive and Games Workshop is a cluster-fuck.
Oh yeah, it's a sad story when it comes to GW.
Warhammer's IP has virtually no value to any quality developer simply because Games Workshop is an absolutely horribly run company that's even worse to deal with when you want to keep things professional.
They have a passion for their product but their taste is in their toenails and their common sense is utterly absent.
