Getting this made soon. What do you guys think?
I'd move the lower right-hand corner art up just a tad, so it doesn't get covered by the screw. Aside from that, I think it looks fine as it is. Best not to make it too busy.
If you have to, I guess you could throw something up around the upper right-hand corner, again making sure that it isn't partially covered by the plexi's screw.
If you plan on going full hog, I'd suggest getting some mix-and-match buttons. Like, pink / red rims with your choice of plunger or so.
I'm new to this. How would I go about applying a image to my arcade stick? Any good suggestions on which image matches mine?
Whats really sad is this could happen. Capcom nerfing Rose even though shes only somewhat strong and most characters are weak. When are we gonna get a game where everyone is atleast somewhat strong minus like 1-2 like GG and ST?
>Do I have to tear down a controller or are there PCBs that are specifically for this?
You might want to look into a PS360+ or a MC Cthulhu board. The Zero Delay Arcade Encoder also works, if you just want PS3 / PC functionality.
If you're good with soldering, you can always go with padhacking.
If you aren't going to insert artwork into your buttons, I'd look into solids. Sanwa dark hai plungers should generally work.
Look for a Qanba Q4RAF template. There should be one at Art's Hobbies.
Artwork's usually applied by printing it on cardstock or whatnot, then sandwiching it between the stick and a clear plexi. The aforementioned Art's Hobbies sells the plexies and offers printing services.
download a template like this
then make some sort of fancy looking artwork
and then when you have that all done you can buy plexi and have them print and cut your artwork
Speaking of art, anyone else have problems getting it printed due to copyright bullshit? There is no privately owned print shop near me, and the FedEx place I went to wouldn't let me print. Any alternatives?
>tfw can't get waifu on arcade stick
she's probably really strong like outside yun/divekick characters beats everyone else.. safe ex ss (at the distance she often stands at) and great dashes either way, forward dash throw/mk is really strong
Finally got the new Seimitsu buttons in.
Just waiting waiting on the stick and the aluminium ball/dust washer.
Does anyone want some Kuro/Hayabusa parts?
Anyone tried on of these?
She beats or is even with every non-divekick character in the game for sure now.
I'm sure she still gets shit on extremely hard by Rufus, but people don't really play Rufus as much as they used to outside of Ricky.
Man I almost ruined the screws in mine originally. I had to pop it open recently to re-attach the wire to the stick and I had to use my pocket knife to carve a big enough ridge into it so I could actually unscrew it.
Plexi is more expensive but easier.
With plexi you can just lay it over the printed artwork, so it's super easy to change if you ever want to. the plexi also protects the artwork.
Without plexi, you need to use some kind of adhesive or print on adhesive paper. Naturally the application can be easy to fuck up, and if you ever want to change it you'll need to do a lot of work to take it all off.
If you're willing to pay shipping I'll give it to you.
Just post a picture of the inside of your stick. i just want to make sure you have a five pin connecter.
The Hayabusa and Kuro parts are kinda shit, but everything other than that it's perfect. perfect weight, great size, huge plate for artwork, feels great in the lap and the touch screen is actually really convenient.
definitely worth the $250+ with parts if you can afford it.
generally you do. they cost about $15 so it's not to bad. you can get it Artshobbies.
They also have templates for almost every stick.
I have one and I feel like that as well. Everything is so easy to do and takes so little effort compared to a stick.
720? No butter churning for me. Just roll my fingers over all four movement buttons twice.
Don't judge me. It was cheap and it does its job.
For the bezel? Primer + your color of choice + topcoat to protect the paint
Be aware that the color of the primer will affect the shade of the final color.
Or you could just buy a new bezel.
>i just want to make sure you have a five pin connecter.
I do, I actually am using a Hayabusa in my main stick. I prefer it to Sanwa tbh and wanted to slap one into my spare stick.
I recently got a HRAP2 from a friend, got the inpin converter and it works. Now just waiting for USF4 retail to release so I can start practicing.
I've been wanting to build my own for a while, but I don't want to "build" my own case.
Is there somewhere I can pickup a housing so I can install my own buttons, wiring, and a graphic on the top?
I was interested in ordering a wooden one once, but the guy had stopped his production
You could although the only ones I've seen are expensive. Youre almost better off just getting a used stick or something and ripping out the internals and replacing everything unless there are stick cases for cheap somewhere that I missed.
Alright, I'll email you about it when my Seimitsu stick comes in. that'll probably be sometime next week because Focusattack is shit.
HRAP 2 are god tier as far as I'm concerned. I've yet to find a stick that has as satisfying an echoing feedback when you press the buttons.
probably because there's just so much empty space on the inside.
The dust washer is covering her thighs.
Currently have pic related unmodded. Should I just buy some sanwa buttons or buy a better stick? Don't particularly feel like spending more than £60 on a new stick
Buy sanwa buttons and a sanwa stick. You will be set for a decent while. If you only want to buy one, buy the buttons first since the stock buttons were the first thing that shit out on me.
That was only in Marvel because Capcom was retarded and never expected anyone to be able to input both directions at the same time. And I think they ended up fixing it.
In SF4 you can abuse being able to hold up and down at the same time with charge characters. You can charge down and then press up (without depressing down) and it will register. You would be able to do the same for left and right charge if it were not for the "fix" they employed on the Hitbox because of Marvel.
Don't buy Qanba.
There are way better alternatives.
Want to use this pic for my first custom artwork. I have a madcatz fighstick pro. What do you think I should do for the buttons/stick? Right now they are both black and the casing is black
>that guy with a pimped out custom stick but is ass at fighting
Not easy. You need to find a place that can print out a giant sticker. It's such a hassle I just never bothered and stick with THE ROCK. I've yet to find a place
that exists in my areathat has a lamilabel.
All-button master race reporting in. Anyone else?
Worth mentioning that dye is much easier than traditional paint- just wipe the plastic clean with a wet cloth and spray. Depending on the color, you may need to do 2-3 coats. 30 minutes later, you're good to go.
No worries about wearing through the coats either as it is not simply a layer of paint on top of the plastic- it literally dyes the plastic.
Wireless delay can be inconsistent, which is the biggest problem by far. The second biggest being many things can interfere with wireless devices, so they aren't trustworthy outside of a controlled environment
>Order pic related on Monday, because it was -$50
>it didn't even leave CA until Wednesday
>Live all the way in NY
Fucking kill me.
I'm normally patient, but not for this. I want it.
>PS360+ are out of stock until august
Yotsuba isn't a 4chan only thing you fucking breadcrumb
>Want to get good at fighting games
>Play Street Fighter on and off for a month
>Don't feel like spending time on training even though I have nothing better to do
I feel like I should find a sparing partner so I don't lose motivation.
>PS4 games have the potential to support PS3 sticks but it's on the developer to do that
Which is kinda malarkey given that the PS3 already had generic USB support. Why not on the PS4 as well?
PS3 in general was surprisingly open for a Sony product. I was blown away when I plugged in my Thrustmaster gamepad from 2002 to find that it functioned perfectly.
Must have removed it from PS4 because they need dat licensing monies. At least they don't completely lock you out like XBox. Although if it's at all complicated to enable support, they might as well.
The PS4 send an "authentication signal" every 8 minutes, and the PS3 sticks don't know how to verify it.
the PS360+ PCB can work on the PS4 now (Beta firmware) but has to be reconnected every 8 minutes.
>the PS360+ PCB can work on the PS4 now (Beta firmware) but has to be reconnected every 8 minutes.
wait holy shit
You could just write a routine to disconnect/reconnect at the pcb level.
Most sticks worth owning can be customized with art.
There's the photoshop templates for almost every stick.
You can also buy the plexiglass from the same place if you need it.
Will it work if I just lay my laminated artwork over this?
Just finished up a some custom art. I know it's not a fighting game but fuck you.
So these are pretty good for modding?
It's not important. You might find those inputs you're having trouble with to be easier but others might give you problems instead. dashes, in particular are more challenging for me on stick than pad for example.
If you're comfortable with pad, try to fix the problems you have with that before opting to switch to stick.
So I ordered some Sanwa OBSCs for my fighting edge because I don't like the Kuros and while I have it open I wanted to put some new art on there. Can someone make me some simple waifu art? You can just put it on a checkered black and white background if you want since if I even had the skills that's all I was going to do.
Theres alot more hitbox players now. I saw lots of people using them at EVO
A marvel player got 17th with one and Tyrant is always placing well in KI with it. Got 9th at EVO and I think top 3 at previous majors
easy. back panel pops right off and everything accessible.
I'm not a fan of the size, because i spread my legs when sitting. And with the low weight they tend to slip, I found this was easy to counter with getting some stick on felt
>Madcatz sticks had some notorious pcbs
i see people say this here in there. what exactly is bad with it?
i bought one of those sticks since day one and never had any problems with it.
mind you i do play casually so i might be missing something here.
I don't know of any scientific studies on the number of failures but I had a TE Round 2 for 6 months before the PCB failed. I personally know of at least one other person that has had a failure as well.
It's the only stick manufacturer I've ever personally known to have had failures. But as with any electronic device, plenty of people have had MCZ sticks for years without problems.
Mostly unsubstantiated claims that it drops inputs even though most top level players still use Madcatz sticks. Just another way for people to blame something besides themselves when they lose.
I wish I had a better picture.
I ordered 2 of those chibi buttons, should be in the mail soon.
I'm pretty terrible at Photoshop, is this even close to what you're going for?
You should be able to have it printed out just like this.
threw this together in paint in 3 seconds, think I should try to add more to the background? Thinking of doing something along these lines
Don't use paint.
Also, move the logo to the bottom right corner.
And use a template so you know where the screws are.
As far as the background goes try something simple and not too noisy.
You know the scrolling film they use in the intro sequence, i feel like you can add a few in the background and maybe some faded story art/in-game screens it could look very sick.
Maybe something minimalistic like this hdwallpaperpc.com/download/Valentine_Skullgirls_51255/resolution_1920x1080
but with the valentine film going on that bottom right space.
I would mock something shitty in photoshop but i dont have time/installed on this pc yet.
Pad pride coming through! WE WON EVO BABY!
You're going to want to put new buttons and stick in it. Hori's old proprietary parts are some of the worst parts ever. Also keep in mind how small this thing is and how much it's going to move because of weight. I'd just spend the extra money and get a used/ on sale TE.
Are you surprised to see people piggy backing on other peoples achievements?
There was such massive shit posting after the match from EU players acting they're the best in the world.
It's true we are though :^)
You can go to a staples and ask one of the people there to figure it out. Id assume it would be a "poster" size then you just cut out the excess borders.
That or a "photo" size (cheaper than poster)thats larger than what you need and you cut it out, im not sure what kind of paper would be best in this situation
I was thinking about getting a Madcatz TE and trying to get some art on it, anyone know a good place in the southeastern US I could make that happen?
>TFW you'll never get the evo'12 stick with all dem blue squares
Kinkos no, FedEx maybe. Now if only I had a local scene
>TFW can't link normals for shit
You can get a very nice plexi glass and lasercut art from arts hobbies for ~40 USD after shipping.
You can just get the art, and reuse your own plexi(after a thorough art removal and cleaning) and deduct $14 from the $40.
Yeah i got a Q1 too as my beginner stick (I couldnt find a cheap madcatz stick in decent enough quality to mod) and ive been enjoying the shit out of it. The goal was to eventually replace with sanwa's and swap out the pcb/use the Q1 frame as a base for a whole new stick so its worth the 40/50 if you can get it in the states (rip eurofriends)
Ill soo upgrade it up to
Same stick i've had for ages.
i'll see if i can get a better pic if anyone's interested.
I have one and the shit would always send in the most random inputs, even when it was on the floor not being touched. Pic related.
old pic, but sure.
i've cleaned up the edges since this was taken
Hope you like it. If you need any changes let me know.
I'll drop the psd off on mediafire in a bit.
I dont own a console.
I play mame games, GGPO online, shit loads of PS2 fighting games emulated. SF4 online, MK9 online, KoF13 online and Injustice.
PC has more than enough games and players to keep me going.
Now is the stick good? and will it work on pc?
I love using a keyboard for fighting games and for a couple of years I have used the EagleEye adapter to be able to use one as a controller on my PS3, but I have always felt just a little bit of input lag.while using it.
Is there a Hitbox with the directions on the right side?
And possibly with the "jump" button above the "down" button?
Octagon aren't only used as a crutch for poor execution, they reduce throw as well.
On a Sanwa that might not mean anything as most of the time you're not going to hit the end of your throw anyways but with a Seimitsu it can actually make your motions a lot quicker.
Its hard to tell, anon.
I'll upload both for whoever wants either version.
>Tfw there's one sitting in your entertainment center
I bought it off of a coworker for ten bucks, opened 'er up, cleaned it out, but I don't know what to use to get the Nintendium back at that nice, clean grey.
Madcatz WWE Brawl Stick for $80
Madcatz FightStick Pro for $99
or completely cheap out and go for a $60 Hori Fighting Stick V3?
I have the Qanba Q2 glowing LEDs.
I don't really like it. My Brawl fight stick I modded with Sanwa parts worked better, a lot better.
It will constantly register lefts as diagonals. It also will register down instead of right.
It makes playing Tekken impossible.
I'm thinking of selling it on ebay. It looks pretty, that's about it, since I've long passed frustration with it over losing matchs over wrong inputs.
In all honesty, I'd have no problem buying a cheapo stick like this if I knew it was easy to mod. But I know those Minis are hard as fuck and use basically proprietary parts. Its really a shame because you could get less commited casual players into the stick market and when things go wrong with it you could say "well heres a guide on how to switch out the buttons and stick and pcb"
I ordered mine on Tuesday I think and it's coming Monday (estimated).
I'm still afraid it might not work on PC even though I looked up reasons it doesn't work on some mobos and it sounded like it would work for me but fuck, I'm stick afraid.
I think it was only the original design of the TE's that ha issues on PCs and even then, it was just the PS3 version.
I wouldn't put too much faith in that test- the methodology the guy used is about as unscientific as you can get (there are much better and more definitive ways using either Aquapazza or Melty training mode with their frame counters).
I'm the guy from the other night who ordered a Q4 after doing Cerebella's 360 on the d-pad caused my thumb to blister and burst.
You guys wanted a picture but when I got back the thread was dead.
D-pad fighting is suffering.
Top one's all Sanwa, bottom one's all Seimitsu with an LS-32
Just got a Hayabusa and a replacement JLF in the mail since the top one is getting a little mushy after 7 years of use (the buttons I put in just a couple years ago so they're fine) and I was curious about the difference with Hayabusa, now I guess I'll get to cross-compare all three of them and put the leftover spare parts in my brother's cheapie sticks he gets from work so he'll have something half decent
Just finished up my art for my Fighting Edge.
Should i add anything else?
Does anyone want something done?
Let me save you some time.
Seimitsu > Sanwa > Hayabusa
>360 on the d-pad caused my thumb to blister and burst.
Jesus fucking christ, that's terrible.
>but I don't know what to use to get the Nintendium back at that nice, clean grey.
Hydrogen peroxide + "oxy" laundry booster + UV lamp or sunlight: http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/
>mfw fascinated by close-up high quality images of lesions, scars, lacerations
i don't know why
I used to have this, recently got a madcatz (that thankfully isn't the alleged TEs with shitty PCB-based input drops). In the long run, the mini had taught me bad habits and I'm still adjusting to the stick placement but it does its job. Hell, it's still working for more than a year now.
Hows this so for the back ground?
took some tweaking but i can easily get it to 300ppi.
It should be one of the more easier ones. A friend has the Soul Calibur version of it and it looks like it's easier to mod out.
You shouldn't be doing 360s that hard. Then again, I'm not one to speak and my thumbs cramp out. Although I cheat and use a cloth on my thumb
Posting the art for my Qanba Q1 again.
The Sanwa buttons and Seimitsu stick I ordered should be coming in tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to getting rid of the stock parts
I've seen so much great art in these threads over the last week but overall this is still easily the best.
and this comes in second.
I'm not even a Chie fan so no bias.
anyone down to make a design for my brawl stick? i don't really want to make an srk account on account of the forums being masturbatory. well that and that faggot d3v. looking to get something like the neo geo red design can provide email if needed
I completely agree. was going for a color coded thing that didn't pan out.
I removed it. hopefully the user can find something better to do with that space.
Uploading to mediafire right now
>madcatz ships from san diego
>live near norwalk
>stick comes next day
I wanted something close to this. i like how the black border only goes around the colored buttons. I'll be using two white buttons under the colored buttons. planning on removing the right most buttons. The black square border will go through the turbo panel on the top, which is fine.
I have a ps2 Mas already. along with two brawlsticks, and the new fightstick pro, i just haven't put any art on the brawl stick and don't really want the rock and hhh staring at me
>tfw shit at photoshop/GIMP
>want a custom cover badly
Whelp, I guess this is motivation to git gud.
Is it particularly hard to make a simple stripes kind of design?
I kind of want to have my waifu on the left side or something while to her right is mainly blue and white stripes and shit.
i really want to my eightarc looks like this where should i start?
