Pretty damn sure I got it for considerably cheaper a year or so ago.

It's kind of blown up lately since the skins so they want to milk it for a little more.

Well most of the new features are focused on competitive gaming. Matchmaking and spectating games is easier than before. If you don't give a shit about that and fancier graphics, CS:GO is not for you. Personally, I enjoy the competitive mode because it let's me play casually with people that are slightly serious about teamworking.
