Don't own a PS4 and probably never will, but that sounds like a really interesting game mechanic.
The game is meant to be played that way. Stop thinking developers need to cater to everyone, they designed the game with a specific right way to playing it and there is a wrong way to play it, which is offline. They tried to make that point clear with Dark Souls 2 by adding the sentinels covenant so players that thought invading random people was a ''bad guy move'' could invade, and when you play offline there are triggered NPC invasions so you can still have the same experience as anyone else.

DaSII's team made so many decisions that Miyazaki would never have approved. So many of the boss/enemy/world designs went against his aesthetic too.
I tend not to follow Devs, either as studios or individuals, so all of this seems like fluffy PR talk to me. I like to judge the game on its own when its out, unaffected by hype and marketing. I don't always succeed, that's for sure tho.

i don't like the whole blood/online bullshit, sounds like they're just forcing you to PVP eventually with no avoiding it. also don't like the "clocl bong" mechanic and the lantern/torch stuff, but it might be okay. overall i hated dark souls and thought it was one of the worst games i'd ever played but i'm kinda excited for this with the changes they're making. the only thing the souls games had going for them was a good art direction and the fact that all the weapons were pretty unique and had different attacks, but the combat in this one actually looks fun.

Okay, but I'm just letting you know I've seen the demo and the gameplay is identical to Dark Souls. It's not faster, the animations are different and all the footage we saw was dual wield based - but it looked identical to playing a dual wield build in any of the other souls games.

Tainted/Pure Blood is just Souls/Humanity, beast mode is hollowed mode.
"Visuals" changing probably just means your character looks different, like being hollowed did in Dark Souls.
"Gameplay" changing probably means something tiny like being auto-summoned as a beast invader in other people's worlds or something.

If they're anything like crossbows they'll probably have a noticeable wind up animation, and will most likely shoot where you are at that moment rather than where ever you end up. If it just tracks you then timing it with invincibility frames will make it no different than evading homing arrows from crossbows.

I gave up on video games entirely until I played Dark souls 1. I played Dark souls 1 for almost 1500 hours. I played Dark Souls 2 for 350 hours. I played Demons Souls multiple times through after buying a PS3 specifically to play it.

Not new. Asylum Demon didn't have a fog gate the first time and Stray Demon doesn't have a fog gate. Also depending on whether you call some enemies bosses or not because there were enemies in Dark Souls that definitely seemed like they could have been bosses that didn't have fog gates, like the Hydra in the Darkroot Basin.

Every attack is slow and unresponsive as fuck compared to 1, and has incredibly obvious input lag and recovery lag before and after every attack. The only exception is daggers, and they're still slower than they were in 1. Dark Souls 2 is objectively the most sluggish and unresponsive game of the series.

not that anon, but I think comparing speeds is a weird thing to do with Das 1 and 2 because some things are faster and other things are much much slower. For instance in 2 running is faster, but you can't run for NEARLY as long. Combat in general seems faster, but that may be a placebo affect because you're forced to face a lot of enemies at once so you need to play differently. Another weird anomaly is that even at 105 AGI estus drinking is comparitively slow to 1 where you drink like a champ

If you were to even bother looking at the gamersyde video, just like the bloodborne video above. There is a no photography sign, meaning the game wasnt meant for public showing yet, due to the game not being optimized yet.
The game never shipped out with those frame dips in that area.

Your main concern is "I need this game to run on my own hardware" not "I need this game to run really well and be well optimized". Once the game is nearing completion you can optimize it.
