Such a great episode. I know that many are bitter because of her death I am too but this episode really added depths to Ymir's character. The scene in the desert was perfect.

No, if anything Isayama wanted to give YH fans something to care about (and buy BD) knowing he will rob them from YH pairing in the original manga at the same time anime will air.

Bigger focus on Ymir and YH has sense since we won't see Ymir in manga anymore and next anime season will maybe be made after the manga will be over so in 4-5 years seeing their pace.

The only thing which they would have problem is what to do with Ymir letter for Historia since the flashback was already shown and makes it pointless, so maybe they just reuse it again next time or make it shorter.

The only way YH can be happy in manga is if the timeloop theory would get confirmed, but I seriously doubt about it cause it would make all sacrifices pointless.

Honestly, after rereading the coordinate chapter, seems like the only reason they got away was because of Ymir and because Reiner valued his friend over the mission.

Think about it. At some point he was running right through Titans and tossing the fuckers over to see if one could eat Eren. But when Titans rushed to him he was so focused on protecting Berthold he didn't do anything else but that. It's clear he couldn't transform into the colossal in time for a titan not to NOM his neck.

Had Ymir not come to save him and he had been eaten right there and then, he'd go apeshit. Anime-Eren-vs-Annie level apeshit. He'd want to kill every single Survey Corps therevwith no care or bother. If he took away his armor joints he'd be able to run faster than horses, and he had plenty of titans to throw.


In the end I think Ymir really felt a debt to them, but she mainly wanted to guarantee Historia reached home safe, and was spared when Marley came to play

The first reason to kill Ymir off was to give Marley a new shifter(cause Ymir suddenly felt enormous guilt where she needed to give it back as her first priority to kill herself as Galliard told where I think it was forced by Eren using the coordinate in that one moment where she saw all Marcel and through that BRA past memories and what really awaits SL now outside the walls), other was to save BR so Armin would get saved through eating Bert and Reiner could be alive for longer to create more dramatic BRA backstory so readers would care about their side even more and that they are trapped in similair level as Eldians in the walls but just by Marley and that Reiner is basically Eren.

And its clear Isayama didn't have any kind idea anymore what to do with Ymir character, she could not stay with SL to not spoil basement plot, and later she needed to go so Marley would get a new shifter where Isayama clearly decided to expand the story when it became even more popular.

Of course I really hope Historia won't be paired with Eren during the timeskip and instead will be loyal widow Queen or move on to some other female character but then Isayama can do whatever he wants during 4 years of story we won't know anything about so it can go in any direction to be honest.

So during the YH argument their was a pink flower that kept appearing throughout the conversation. It starts with two but once Ymir starts lying one of them drifts away down the stream then into a waterfall.
It was a light pink phlox.

Since we're talking about fiance partners here I'll add that the phlox represents good partners, harmony, and sweet dreams.

Phlox are sturdy flowers that can even grow on rocks such as the one in the anime. They're native north american plants but they seem to be used for japan's shibazakura(moss phlox) festival.

Also they come in different colors and since the one used in the anime was pink it symbolizes compassion, nurturing and love.

There have been yuri stuff the whole season. How can we not have it at the end? There will be the ambiguous confession of the feelings of Historia for Ymir and their separation to finish. Ymir for strange reasonig became the only person in SnK world who decided to kill herself willingly for other people sake, Isayama made Ymir save BR for future plot points and then kill herself so Marley side would get new shifter.

As Isayama showed us Ymir life and that she wanted to live for herself didn't matter at all, she needed to die for the plot. I belive even if Isayama was asked directly why she made such turn he would not be able to explain it properly anyway. I'm surprisingly patient with AoT I have no problem just watching it on Toonami. Saw the episode where she went back to nab Historia. Seeing young Ymir stoned and current Ymir cry. Feels where had.

That being said I'm not too patient, I'm aware of most manga goings on.

It's not about patience it's just the change of dialogue and change of tone when character talks. I found Ymir harsher in the winter scene in the dub than the sub and the titan yells are just horrendous.The Beast titan yell sounded like water running and Ymir's titan sounded like a grimlin. I usually watch the dub after the sub but had to stop. They even missed up Reiner's dialog and said that time that Annie grabbed him and he almost died instead of that titan.
