I'm having some trouble figuring out a way to create more uniform shading for my drawings. I use fire alpaca and have been using freehand water coloring tools but it doesn't give me that uniform professional look other artists get.

Any advice would be appreciated I want to make better /u/ related content.

Never used fire alpaca, but I assume that the problem anon is running into is that his shading ends up somewhat splotchy because of the nature of the tools.

In which case you might just be better off with another tool to save you the headache, or you're just going to have to embrace that more painterly, semi-impressionist look. If you have an airbrush or similar tool, you might get better results when it comes to shading that is transitioning from one tone or color to another. If you are

Do you use a mouse or tablet? It looks like a mouse to me, but I just wanted to check. But a simple way to keep it from looking splotchy is just by using the smudge tool. Try not to depend on it too much, but it would definitely improve the way your shading looks.

Also for the colors of your shading, it looks like you're using semi-transparent grays/blacks to darken the areas. I recommend that instead of using grays to darken the areas, or less saturated versions of the color, you instead use either a darker shade of that same color (like the shading on the hair in the example image) or just a different color as a whole (like the shading for the skin). I'd also recommend using the dropper tool to copy colors from other images, that way you'll have better results and learn to identify better colors for yourself in the future.
