I watched it without knowing anything about its VN origin, nor did I expect it to be yuri. An extremely enjoyable experience, not being boggled down by expectation or paranoia.

The yuri is surprising quality, with the girls who wanted to fuck other girl due to actual attraction and not just fanservicey sadism/bullying. And there are a long time couple.

I mostly watch the anime because of Sousou.

The fighting game (Koihime Enbu) in Steam is the one you want to play, as it's adapted from the anime, and pretty fun.

The problem is that such characters are always the center of plot and attention, and girls only exist to orbit around him. Now, if the harem MC has nothing to offer himself (which they almost never do, they're always the same spiky haired idiots), this drags it down quite a lot.
that's probably why I enjoyed KonoSuba, dspite it being essentially a harem: Kazuma is actually funny, and the interactions aren't basically the girls worshipping the very ground he walks on
The reason for writing them that way is that they're usually self-inserts.

Given the length of the games and the huge number of VAs and artwork, they probably have a much higher budget than pretty much any other VN. So they'd be highly inclined to take the safe, conservative route and cater to the biggest audience they can. And that audience is for het harems.

What sparked there plan for a remake of the game? From what I understand the original game never sold well, and never had much of a following. If they are making it because the anime sold well (a yuri anime) then at least some of those people behind it should suspect it would fail if they change back to the useless het formula that failed them last time they did the game. If the anime was successful then the wise move would be to keep that formula (namely yuri) if they want a new game to succeed. However, we all know there are many companies out there that that are run or operated by people using wisdom or logic in their decision making.

It is a pretty good show. Depends on how "tolerate" you are towards male characters. While it is not harem, the MC does lust for the bodies of the girls (but hates their personalities)

I would say season 3 has more yuri than the second one.
The only crime season three did was not hacing enough Reiha + henchgirls.
Remmeber that the first game actually gave them a proper yuri ending, and their interactions in the animu are great, too.

The funny thing with Anime is that it had an important male character (with clothes as colorful as the women) no girls have any romantic interest towards him and is treated like another character more

It would be great a Remake without Kazuto, everything stays Yuri and with the seriousness of the VN

Koihime Musou is an entire series of VNs. It has to be popular for that to have happened. Baseson even released a similar VN that was set in Japan instead of China.

Koihime Musou, Shin Koihime Musou, fandisc of Shin, Shin Koihime Eiyuutan which was split into 3, and the upcoming Shin Koihime Musou Kakumei which is split into 3 as well.

Similar titles are Sengoku Koihime and Appare Tenka Gomen and its fandisc.

I can't believe that no one's brought up Chouryou yet. Too bad the anime ended right when Chouryou developed feelings for Kan'u. In the VN Chouryou was in love with her from very early on. The later VNs maybe switched Chouryou's interest to Gakushin, because I remember those 2 having scenes together in that game.

I think that Chouryou's scenes with Kazuto were pretty much to make every girl in the game obtainable for the MC. In Chouryou's case it didn't really make sense. She listed a handful of people she cared for more than Kazuto (all female), but said that he was her favorite among men. Then again, don't expect monogamy in a harem game based in ancient China.

The Koihime series, and other VNs that are just like it, are all that Baseson has released for the past decade. If they weren't successful then Baseson would've moved on and done something different by now or gone under. The fact that Baseson is still going strong must mean that the self insert harem thing is working out for them.

And don't expect a game with as high of a budget as Shin Koihime Musou to have only yuri.Yuri is very niche, which is why most yuri VNs have much smaller casts than most series.
