I've said "the characters are flat", that means that they don't have any depth. Being a SoL is not an excuse to have characters who are flatter than a sheet of paper. Development only means something when you know what makes a character tick.

The lack of plot can be covered with exploring the characters, bur the show didn't really do that, and then went a inserted its overreaching plot that doesn't look, so far, that interesting (this bit is really subjective).

The idea of abandonment of duties sounds more like Acedia influenced sloth considering Acedia was more apathy than actual laziness. These are actual spoilers by the way. There's some dark elements such as the fact that the entire thing is basically about these girls being abducted from their families and forcibly taken to concentration camps where they're observed and in some cases experimented on for nefarious purposes. Also Mirei and Momoka being genetically modified child soldiers considered little better than disposable animals by the corporation doing it. There are other little things as well that are arguably dark but are kind of fun in the context of a yuri ecchi show. Those anons are referring to one specific scene in one episode where a villain whose power is to force people into dreams or nightmares forces one of the MCs into a nightmare where she's powerless to resist being graphically sexually assaulted by a pack of faceless men, which is really shitty and out of place in the show. The show is really fun otherwise and the characters are great so that just makes that one scene hurt more.
