I actually started to play this after watching the anime...and I'm actually impressed. Gameplay is fun and writing isn't terrible. I guess there's good mobile games now.

The anime's pacing is a joke, though. 30 minutes in the game animated in 3 episodes.

It does scratch the fantasy journey itch.
The rates in Granblue are very friendly but you've definitely been lucky, congrats. Save your crystals for the end of the month though. The SSR rate goes up from 3% to 6% for a few days and you can draw limited characters that aren't available the rest of the month.

Narmaya is actually one of the best characters in the game of her element.

And if you're using crystals to draw, you might want to save up till the end of the month, because that's when SSR rates are boosted

Or if you're really desperate, you could save up for 300 draws (90,000 crystals) for an assured SSR.

If you're planning to put money into the game, it might be a good idea to make a new account at the end of the month, because you could then buy a beginner's draw ticket to get any of the limited characters that have been released at that time.

Some SSRs to watch out for would be Vira, Silva, Beatrix, Yuel, Societte, and Zeta because they're pretty gay.

There are some others that get really intimate with the protagonist like Magisa, which is pretty nice if you're playing as Djeeta.

Not really. I got the Melleau drawing in that first ten drawing they give you for free when you first start playing.
After that I got some premium weapon drawing tickets from things like the board, but I never used it, because I thought it was just about weapons. Then I used them when I had 6 and got the other three SSR.

So you can appreciate your disgusting luck some more know that when I started I rerolled 20 accounts with 4 solos tickets each during double rate up. I wouldn't say they're censored, I think the Granblue translators are just a chaotic mix of not knowing Japanese well, laziness and over localizing for the sake of gags. Some of the cases of lines talking about something completely different to the original context are amazing.

Non promo (like if you have to buy merchandise) outfits are usually made available again, I think. You might have to wait a year for it to return though. When you buy an outfit, you also get a 10-draw ticket along with it. So if you're going to spend money to pull already, you might as well buy the outfit. The cost of the outfit + 10 draw ticket is the same as if you just buy 10 draws.

IIRC, outfits have been made available time and again, but since I don't pay much attention to that I can't say the same thing about all outfits.

Assuming that you're gonna put money into the game anyway then maybe there is a point in buying an outfit that you really like since you can use money with the beginner ticket or surprise tickets to get the character you want (unless the character you're trying to get is a time limited one, in which case you're be in a pretty tight spot)

Hey, in F/GO I'm pretty sure there are separate dialogues for male/female so at least it won't happen there.

Some dialogues are fine, some are retarded. Original dialogues have clear differences in some parts. For example, I saw a dialogue where the character says to Djeeta and Lyria how two girls walking alone is dangerous. At the same event, they call Djeeta "him" everytime.
Other unrelated event was pretty good at calling Djeeta "she" in the entire event. So yeah, Japanese dialogue do diverge, but some of the translators are stupid.

But although some events do take account of the character's gender, the main story makes no sense at the scene when they're with Orchid, since they say Lyria always wanted to meet "a girl her age". Even though Djeeta should be it.

The old translators were pretty bad, probably ESL, and made a lot of those mistakes. The new translators are obviously native speakers (probably American expats), but take a lot of liberties with their localization.

Not really good or bad, actually. It's pretty much the same story as the game, but more boring since 5 minutes of reading becomes 20 minutes of episode, somehow.
There's not much het at all. Lyria keep around Katalina and Gran around Rackan all the time. It's pretty much everyone being friends so far. Last episode was filler and had Io saying that Gran feeling where Lyria was is kinda romantic. On the other side, the same episode had Mary saying Karva is more important to her than gold.

But in the end, even though Gran is useless in the big plot, just like the game, seeing those scenes with him animated and thinking it could be Djeeta instead is really annoying, so I won't recommend it, even though I'll probably watch until the end, anyway.

I wish they had allowed the producer to keep Djeeta as he wanted.
On the other side, the fact that no one seems to like it makes things a little better.

I usually dislike this kind of character, but Cordelia is done right. In no moment I thought "yeah, she really look like a man", her voice is also pretty feminine and the fact that she actually likes to emphasize her feminine side (her image says she uses a bandanna because of that.) I don't even get how all those "straight" girls are in love with her.

Personally I've never been fussed about girls looking or acting too masculine but I agree Cordelia is a nice balance. I also like how Cordelia's complex of not being very feminine is a minor thing, and she still gets to be cool and go on and do her stuff without it taking over her character(Ange). Bridgette being the one who makes a point about it and reminds her how cute she is is seriously great.

It's also a nice touch how cute tiny Bridgette has a more neutral chef outfit in comparison.

I personally have a thing for those "Takarazuka revue" kind of girls, so I've always liked Cordelia. I do believe the game as a whole does abuse the concept of "gap moe" too much, because almost every recruitable character is either not as evil as they look like or deeply embarrassed about one of their fundamental traits, but the fact that she doesn't mind acting as some sort of lesbian seductress for her order is pretty commendable, since her opposition to the idea of appearing as male (one of her fundamental traits) is not as strong as it is in other characters and manages to almost come off as original in this context.

There's also that great back and forth in gay interactions that she's got with Bridgette. It's like an eternal game of gay chicken.

I'm going to have to disagree with you a lot. Anime certainly isn't perfect, but I think they went the right direction in going anime original (which they've been doing at least since Colo). Gran/Lyria was pretty much a given from the first or second episode; unless they pull something like she's Granmom, that's how it was going to end up no matter how much they pushed on other girls. I'm not a huge fan of the veggie Lyria plot, but it's not terrible either (though I would have preferred they resolved that this ep).
I do think they revealed JK too soon though - being the mysterious benefactor was a good move, but that mysteriousness inherently goes away the more she's on-screen. They didn't need the wave part, for multiple reasons (and I guess six years is long enough).
I certainly wouldn't discount a second season, just based off an anime-original ending. Unless they rush things rather crazily, there will be far too many loose ends for a proper ending - I don't think there's enough time to save Lyria (with all the attending characterization that will happen), fight Yugu, come back and fight Levi, fix the ocean, and recruit Dead Man. There's still all the stuff with BK, Sturm and Drang, the Empire, etc. Remember, RoB got a second season, and it was pretty self-contained, and even sold horribly, and is an ad for a smaller, older game. Not to say any of this guarantees a second season for GBF, but it doesn't rule it out either.

There'll be 14 episodes, enough time for a proper ending. I don't think they'll fight Levi, he just attacked the city because Lyria made it go crazy. Going back to the previous city to make that kind of plot would be weird, so I think they'll just tie the Yggdrasil plot with the ending.

And seriously, even with the good sales (free gacha tickets and cards, after all), it doesn't seem like people care about the anime at all, even in Japan, and that's a pretty different recepction than what RoB got.

I've noticed the gap moe too. It's probably used as a device to make every character as appealing as possible with just their gacha fates. You only have so much space to endear the characters to the audience and make them not regret opening their wallets in a game like this where only the main cast get constant attention. This is an easy way to do it. Generally the characters who get hit with the gimmick stick but get more content like 5*s or events go past it and are written in a more well rounded way.

Silva has this really bad in her 3rd ability unlock fate where it's randomly thrown in that she's bad at taking praise for her skills and gets flustered over it. It's amusingly sudden and just comes off awkwardly. This then thankfully gets ignored in everything else she appears in.

Another good one is Birdman being scared of heights. 10/10.

The Gripping Freedom and Platinum Sky events. They're in multiple of each other's fates too; Beatrix's, S Beatrix's and dark Zeta's.

They're the only two of the Society gang who know each other from before joining. Also probably the only two who would admit to being friends since they're all very tsun for each other. So they're very close and hang out a lot. There's a part in Gripping Freedom where Zeta saves Bea too and it's very sweet.

I'll tell you when I figure that out myself. I just pulled her the other day.

She has a mode called Starslayer that you can switch in and out of by using her charge attack. She also has her own stack system called Chivalry.
Every time she gets hit while she's NOT in Starslayer mode she gets another Chivalry stack, and the higher her Chivalry stack is when you switch her TO Starslayer mode the better buffs she gets. Check the wiki for what those are.
When she's out of Starslayer mode you can use her as a defensive unit. Her 1st two skills basically cut damage she receives from attacks and draws attacks to her, so your other party members don't get hit and she can withstand stronger ones.
When she's in Starslayer mode she gets boosted attack and lowered defense. Her skills also switch to being completely offensive. Her 1st skills boosts her attack and lowers her chance of taking enemy hits. Her 2nd skill makes her not attack for a turn, then boosts her attack on the turn following it.

As for what the best way to use her is, I have no idea. I just let her build Chivalry for a few turns and then switch her to Starslayer and go all out, but I also don't use wind much so I haven't seen the full drawback of the defense hit she gets from that mode in longer, harder fights.
I'd imagine you could use her best by taking a foe's overdrive hit early on, then switch to Starslayer right after and blast it into break(in situations where that works out and is worth doing of course).

Steadfast consumes her charge gauge so I'm not quite sure when to use it except I guess when the enemy is in Overdrive? But it only subs for single-hit attacks... I don't know.

She's one of the best wind characters I got according to the their list, but I can't see how useful she is right now

Yeah using her to tank and blast overdrive is dependent on what you're fighting. In the right situations she'd work really nicely though.
As for charge bar, if your wind composition doesn't have any other characters who consume bar then slip Yuisis into the last slot so she can piggyback ougi build and switch mode even after using it.

If your wind team is fragile you can use her in defensive mode to tank regular hits and let your team survive longer as a whole. You could also stick a defensive unit with her and use her offensively with less drawback.

1. Have her do her first ougi as quick as possible. Don't use her skills if that's going to be quickly, but if you don't have a ton of data, it's not a huge deal to use 1 and 3. Never use her 2 in the first mode, though, since you need it for the next mode.
2. Get her to her second ougi. The turn before her second ougi, use her 2. This will lock her down for one turn, but it will give her a HUGE boost to attack the next turn. Use her 1 the same turn as that ougi.
3. Ougi for BIG NUMBERS. Seriously, I've gotten millions of damage on a grid that usually autos for 30k on-element without serious buffs (though it helps to have some backwater too).
She's really fragile in her second form though. I've had multiple times when she's died right before BIG NUMBERS, very infuriating.

I think it depends on how you see her. I have her. She's pretty much the "onee-sama". She likes to take care of other, like dancho. But she does the same for Lyria and Vyrn.
So I would say no. But since she's doting everyone all the time, is easy to see her like that.
