Could someone give me like a "How it's made: Manga Translations"? I'm just pretty new to this entire shebang and would love to have some things cleared up.

From what I understood, there are some groups in Japan that do scans of mangas and such scans are called raws. Then someone proficient in moon runes takes these and translates them to English and someone else, or the same person, does typesetting, which I assume is placing translations in correct places and clearing up the original text.

Do I have things right? I'm also curious whether the scanning groups scan the mangas and upload them right after they are released, or as fast as they get around to it, or do they wait a couple days or weeks.

I edit manga, I'm the same person that edited and posted the link of the chapter 17 in this thread, after you translate just post the translation here that I pick up and start to edit. I'll start when the raws comes out.

Pretty much.

People buy and scan the manga in Japan, upload the raws (which are obviously in Japanese and tend to have some of the variations in quality you get from scanning anything). A translator translates the various Japanese text, and then usually a cleaner comes in (all of these could be the same person, or different people or any combination of that) and removes all the japanese text, which sometimes involves redrawing things because text is over the drawings instead of in a bubble, and cleans up any issues caused by the scanning, and a typsetter puts in the text.

And then if its a big group you have someone double check looking carefully for errors or any issues.

Generally for popular magazines and publications, raws go out quickly, the actual translation is usually pretty fast, the cleaning/typsetting takes the majority of the time, especially if it's a mangaka who likes to put elaborate text overlaying the pictures themselves instead of just putting text in various bubbles.

Or at least that's my understanding.

Can we for once focus on the yuri scenes in this chapter? How far did they actually go? I think only boobs touched but not cherries. It was pretty hot, although while reading it, I was expecting Fujiwara to pop up again.

Hotaru sleeping with him is no news. She seemed worse now though, probably because she starts feeling that Yuma loves her, so it is becoming more difficult. When she thought she had no chance, she had nothing to lose. But now it is getting different, and this thing with Fujiwara bothers her more.

What I don't get though is why the big of a deal? This whole evil guy blackmails go into having sex.with him is very cliché. Her expenses are undoubtedly all taken care of by her father. One of the reason I started to get annoyed by this series, whenever something good happens to Yuma and Hotaru relation author almost immediately needs to bring it down with Fujiwara action to remind us as readers how evil obstacle he is, and seeing how Takeda acts as a white knight I wouldn't scratch him off yet as someone who would still do it with either Yuma or even Hotaru due to some drama bullshit where he would save Yuma and got temporary reward, of course Yuma would dislike it but it would be another bad cliche testing stage to check.

Fujiwara's actions are evil, and he's definitely using Hotaru for his own ends (since he likes to have sex), but he isn't particularly judgemental.

So, it would be fun if Takeda actually see their relationship in a really negative light, and shames them for it.

Though it would bring melodrama, I think it would be interesting to see the White Knight guy turn out to be just another average Joe.

One, if Yuma was straight it would mean that she wouldn't even be able to be an antagonist, since antagonists in romance are the characters that try to get together with the main character. So Yuma only being a friend would o ly make her an obstacle instead of antagonist.

i like this manga because it does something different than other manga. cheating is a very taboo subject so coupled with yuri it makes it a bit fascinating even if the story itself is sort of idiotic. that said the bisexual bits are irritating and i could do without them.

Not really, I don't mind men as side characters in yuri works who actually would help the girls be together or at least be their friends, but in most yuri stories men are antagonists which the yuri couple need to defeat to be together and in most of them it involves the guy dating/fucking/raping or one of the girls cheating before that would happen.

For me it's just boring cliche I'm not too fond of or would prefer to see it happening before the story and in the story get the relationship fruit.
