The sad thing in this case is that Djeeta is much more popular than Gran. While I doubt all of them do so for yuri reasons there are people playing as DJ than Gran. So I'm sure the anime would be doing better if she was the MC. The people up top are just out of touch and just go with the guy. Thankfully Gran isn't the MC in the game platinum is making, but I don't think Djeeta is either. If I had to make a random guess it looks like it's Kat, but that's only because the trailers seem to focus on her.

I think you misunderstood something oneesama. Kat and Vira are pretty popular and the only ones likely to get anime content. The sole reason for that though is because their chapters are early enough in the story for the anime to get to, and Vira is so popular I can't imagine them not putting her in.

I've no clue how popular Io/Rosetta is in comparison, or any other pairing for that matter. They all seem pretty even, but it's hard to tell with the yuri fandom being spread in the nooks and crannies of twitter. A year ago I'd have said Kat/Vira, but then Kat's harem kept expanding and Vira and DJ had the shippy April Fool's moments.

Zeta/Bea has been getting attention again too because of the society event reruns.

This is normal. I'd advise alternating between grinding your grid and advancing story for weeks at a time. Smoothly clearing main story content in one go isn't possible, it's not designed to be played that way.

Depending on how far in you got and how much effort you're willing to put in maybe consider starting a new account and reroll for a good start up. You get a guaranteed SSR from your first free 10 roll now too(although it's from a set pool of 6).

She went batshit crazy and aimed to be the strongest so she could protect Silva.

Someone posted a summary of the last part of her 5* fate:

The villiage elder mentions that she should be proud of such an achievment and to get some rest...until monsters attack the villiage released by the assassin group. The ground under her feet begun rumbling and prepares to sacrifice herself. She bids farewell to her sisters and sorn and hardens her spirit with her rifle in tow locked and loaded.
>Suddenly a laser like sound is heard and Silva immediately recognizes it. More follow and she starts searching for the source of the arrows Sorn. It is then that Silva realizes just how powerful Sorn is. To shoot that many arrows in such a short span of time from that distance is something she couldn't even dream of doing. She realizes that Sorn has been hiding her true abilities when they went out hunting together. Silva laughs and says that to Sorn there would have been no way Silva would have been able to fend these monsters off. And that is why Sorn came. To protect Silva. Silva begins to understand the rift of difference between the two and how feeble she truly is. The difference between her and the monster she calls Sorn
>Silva snaps out of it when she hears Sorn bolting away. She realizes that Sorn heard everything she said. She screams to wait and that she didn't mean it and chases after her trail but soon more monsters come in and curses to the high heavens. She continues to defend the town as Sorn gets further and further away and so the flashback ends

So how much of the story is only told through events? It bugs me when I jumped into the game late, started an event and didn't know who anyone was.

The main story is mostly self contained. Events handle everything outside the main story, so generally the stories of the event and gacha only characters.

If it's the first event a character has gotten they'll give them a small introduction, although they won't show the events surrounding them actually joining your crew like in their fate. If it's a sequel it assumes the previous events have been rerun recently and you've seen them(e.g. the current event and the string of knights event last November).

If it's a gatcha character it's worth looking up their character fate since the bulk of their individual story is usually in there.

Is this your first event? This is a bit of a sequel event(and comedic)so it doesn't introduce the cast as much as events usually do.

Feeling lost during multi character events when you start is normal with the size of the cast. As you play more you'll get to know more characters and get used to it. For now just watch the character fate episodes on youtube if there's one you're interested in.
