I think Madoka benefits from having MadoHomu and KyouSaya as things the story revolves around while also not having the story's enjoyment being dependent on them. Hell, there are people who hate yuri and still ship the main pairings because they want their favorite character to be happy after what they go through during the story.

FlipFlappers doesnt seem to have that appeal or emotional connection between the charcaters and it's viewers. It's got some great stylistic animation and a fun couple, but I felt like it never even knew how to commit to its demographic. Or knew who that demo was to begin with. And that drastic shift in story structure and the TWEESSTTT in the last third lf the story were unforgivable.

Writing is the main issue. There aren't any plot holes as much as there are just clunky reveals. If you read the interview were Urobuchi discusses a the "miracle" between Madoka and Homura, then its more clear. Everything is set up in hindsight, but the story wasn't clear on what it was trying to explain until the final chapter.

I think the other thing to remember is that Madoka's system ultimately just reinforces a system that uses the tears of little girls to power the universe. We can't say Madoka's universe was ever really good to begin with. That's said, WA also implies there are going to be significant universal imbalances due to not 1 but 4 karmic anomolies wandering the world. It's pretty much just pushing that the only way for this to all end without the universe collapsing is Homura accepting both her and Madoka's fate and climbing that stair way to adulthood together.

I honestly think that she did that with one purpose in mind. Homura doesn't really have much of a life outside of "protect Madoka", and she is completely dedicated to that goal. She doesn't have friends, she doesn't seem to have a family and because of that she just don't experience much of life beyond the goal (which is a losing battle any way that she slices it).

So she exists in the new world almost completely for once reason. To live. To live beyond "protect Madoka".
It's an absolute pity that Homura can't do that, she won't. She has come too far and scarified too much to do anything else when the opportunity presents itself.

I think my favorite thing about this artist is the references to Kyoko's sister. On this page you can see the sign on the bedroom door should say "Kyoko and Momo" but part of Momo is cut off as the sign is damaged.

Her relationship with Momo is one that mostly gets ignored in both official and fan works, and I feel like it has so much potential. Losing a younger sister makes her history all the more tragic. It seems important, I do not understand why it is incorporated so rarely.
