You know, I hated the idea of Ymir being some random street brat at first, but I'm growing to like it. Ymir started in a high place (once she became the "reincarnation" of the original Ymir) and ended low. Historia started in a low place and ended high. Now Historia is the only "special" person in the relationship, it also becomes more narratively likely that she will do more in story, maybe rescuing Ymir.

Not sure about that. Her origin is pretty open and almost makes it sound like she just randomly appeared. There is also her titan form looking like the devil from the books and the herring language that even Grisha couldn't read. I also think it's odd that she said she was born as Ymir, when apparently she wasn't going by this chapter and she actually had no name and that she wanted to prove that her fate wasn't decided the day she was born.

I do hope Isayama has more plans for Historia and not just makes her become Queen and then ignores her until the end.

In one of the other jumbled translations, I felt this part was better written actually. She said something along the lines of "You were always to shy to say what you meant, I don't understand you like this." as in, Ymir is suddenly being so direct and it's somewhat unexpected. Yeah, looks like Ymir was trying to tell Historia that she loves her and Historia's reaction makes it more obvious by saying she was too shy to just directly say it again. It may very well be a mistake, but in the context of the scene there's no need for her to explain in specifics where she got the name. It's perfectly sensible that she would avoid anything that might actually point toward her past.

Then the others start talking about how Historia was the leader of the group during a mission. They almost failed, because they didn't make it back in time. Apparently Ymir then suddenly just started running off with the others following her. Turned out it was a short cut to their destination and at the end they still succeeded.
