To be honest I've been reading both the official and fan translations of Aya Brea for the older chapters of TLD for instance, and I have to say,
that the fan translations have parts where I prefer them over the official ones.
I think getting rid of the work put into them would be a waste and it's not like the official ones aren't available freely just as much.

I wish official translations would maintain the use of Korean honorifics (-ssi, -ya, hyung, oppa, etc). Anybody who reads manhwas will eventually pick up on their meanings or a simple translation note would aid readers. In the official versions, we don't get to see the difference in the way Sumin and Seju address each other vs how Sumin and Sungji do. The official version probably won't even emphasize the importance of Sumin dropping honorifics with Sungji in the recent chapter.

actually, that's my dillema.

not only is there honourifics that needs to be teached to everyone who reads the comics who doesn't know them, the speech words themselves have a 'respectful' and 'neutural' and 'condescending' versions that have wildly different tones depending on the speaker and circumstances.

For example,
성지씨 - "-ssi" = miss
성지야 - "-ya" = no honourifics, more closer relationship

but there's also
사랑해요 - "-yo" = respectful / neutural
사랑해 - "nothing" = not respectful speech, closer relationship

but they both say the same thing, 'I love you.'

Honourifics I can maybe deal with, since I can just put 'visit this page to learn korean honourifics' link on the top of the picture or something, but depicting the change of speech respectfulness is hard to convey.

I think I will change the way I translate, and put '-ssi' and so on inside the translation.

Oh anon please do, the official translations are great for covering a new audience, but making the transition from a language that has so many details, honorifics and discourse differences to a language that has none of that is extremely difficult, I know, but their absence on official translations bother me to this day.
In my opinion, most people know the manhwa's origin, they should know these kinds of details because they make a difference to the story and should be the audience's responsibility to learn that.
Your translations are very cohesive and your effort is appreciated, but if you could add those details that are lost from Korean, that would be really great. Once again thank you.

You don't have to stress yourself out and try to convey every honorific and its circumstances, but a complete absence doesn't do justice to the story.

Actually, I don't think Sungji has ever called Sumin by her name, has she? In the last panel of the most recent chapter, when Sumin invites Sungji to bed... did she drop honorifics and refer to Sungji affectionately?

Can somebody clarify the scene between Sungji and Sumin when they were eating? Was Sumin actually feeling ill or did she just want to go home because the atmosphere made her anxious and uneasy? It was actually Sumin that asked to sleep over, right? And Sungji was being indifferent?

Just like in Japanese, even though there are some important scenes that focus on the change of the person's tone and / or honourifics, but it's rare and often explained in the translation notes on the side. I think doing that is enough.

I took it as Sumin being careful not to assume anything, because she's afraid of making the wrong assumption and hurting Sungji... but Sungji is giving her mixed signals. One moment she says "I'll answer you later" and another she invites her over. One moment she says it's okay for Sumin to sleep over, but then says it's okay for Sumin to sleep wherever (like the sofa). One moment, Sungji is being nostalgic yet platonic, and then she shows up in just a towel. To me, it looks like Sungji just wants Sumin to make up her mind, follow her heart, and just act. "If you love me, then show me. If you want me back, then act like it. Fight for me." And Sumin is so guilty, insecure, and scared of hurting Sumin that all these misleading signals from Sungji are confusing her. Because, in Sumin's mind, if she makes the wrong move... She'll have fucked things up again worse. So, Sungji is trying to be patient and get Sumin to act on her own, but then she gets a bit impatient... which leads to her coaxing Sumin with "hints and signals." Thus... A circle of confusion and insecurity from them both.

I can't read Japanese fluently so I can't comment on the Japanese translation of WDTFS.

Japanese Manga is idealistic, fantastical and generally more delusional. Korean Manhwa is realistic, brutal and generally more dramatic.

If you are talking about honorifics and respectful speech between Korean and Japanese, it goes quite deep that it's hard to explain very quickly.

Generally, it's similar. You can match many of the honourifics to it's Japanese / Korean counterpart, and the 'Level of respect' speech also applies both ways. However, in some ways it's handled differently due to cultural differences, so you can't exactly say it's one to one.

If you're talking about Korean Stuff VS Japanese Stuff, I don't know, how about you find it out yourself?

Jap stuff most of the time relies on tropes we've already seen a fuckton of times because it's the method that is safe... and easy. They know their jap fans will still eat it up. So being young means she has no back story? This is really not an excuse, and remember that Sumin and Seju situations and development happened when they were young too.
Sungji is bland not because she is a good person, but because of her lack of any deeper development.
For example, she took Sumin back way too easy. Even if she is a good person, she should at least keep her self respect and at least even try to talk about it with Sumin. But the moment she saw her again, she jumped on the pussy train.
