Seeing the ending and what we got in the anime I can't really undersatdn what was the point of making Fine and Izetta both females if the writer or author never planned to deliver on that.

Ending would be good if Fine would kiss Izetta in last scene on that wheelchair but maybe that's asking too much. You can't break the yuri friendship with romantic motion.

So now our last hope for a yuri season is last episode of Flip Flap to have a real yuri ending...

"Izetta" ended up being one of Yoshino's more competent series, which makes it all the more disappointin, because it's just kind of middling with none of that special Yoshino brand badness to spice things up. I think it was implied that lost the use of her legs by episode 10 and Izetta was only able to walk again thanks to the magic she got from the gem, that literally cured her from all her wounds. It wasn't so unexpected to not have her walking again after there the ending, since there is no more magic in the world.

The fact that she hasn't recovered after 3 years probably means she's stuck in the wheelchair for the rest of her life.

I can say I'm satisfied enugh with the endig even if it was a bittersweet one. It's a shame that some more sweet interactions between Finé and Izetta or even a kiss weren't shown, but I won't complain much about it. It could have ended far worst than this so it's ok, it can be considered a good yuri end. I'm crying though..

The ambiguity isn't directly about her health, it's just a gimmick, directional artsy bull not really there for substance but just for show because japan loves ambiguity instead of just outright saying look they live and are happy. It's not the first show where they have done this for no actual reason and it won't be the last. The only real story significance it probably has is that it's supposed to punctuate the in universe secret status of her survival. Trying to find a conclusive answer as to why they did it is futile most of the time, because often times directors just do it because they like the feel of it instead of wanting to subtly hint at some underlying big plot point. I've seen people come up with inane theories about scenes like this, and then directors and writers coming out later and saying that they just liked the composition and did it for the flair, too many times to fall for any doomsday theories now. You're probably giving Fujimori too much credit here anyway.

But then again those endings are done to some degree so that people can come up with their own headcanon bullshit on top of whatever flimsy story bits they show. So if you want to be paranoid and think she's paralysed from the neck down now and can't see a thing, go for it.

You think not showing her face was deliberately done to keep her health up to interpretation. I think it was just done as a ham-fisted way to drive her whole secretly alive status thing home.
You can of course keep believing your theory, it's ambiguous enough to do so after all, I just wanted to point out that it's just as likely that this has probably not even crossed the directors mind when he decided on the composition.
This show has done these sort of things rather overtly anyway. If they wanted to hint at any blindness they would have probably gone the extra mile hint wise in my opinion.

Now even class S is practically dead in manga in favor of real yuri, things can still be better for yuri anime but things are pretty good compared to how they were.

Also remember that subtext yuri is still yuri, not all anime need to be explicitly romantic, I would if all my yuri was as explicit and with as much fanservice as possible but that's not what all series aim for.

I'm probably one of the few who actually loved the ending. For a show that had me paranoid of het-end (Yoshino after all) or death end, I'm glad that Fine/Izetta were both alive. The bookend beginning/end were a nice touch too. There's something beautiful about Izetta being set up in that one place where first met each other and the one time that they were probably the happiest. You just know that deep inside they both treasure it and it's something that will never go away. So yeah, it's all good. The ending had me sort of smiling.
