It's been about a month. How is the dice falling in regards to Sombra?

I mean, even accounting for Korean inflation, we got D.va, people are floating Symmetra since she hasn't gotten much mileage, and of course, Katya.

Yuri economy has been good this quarter. I want to be in on the ground floor of wherever Sombra's pairs go.

I just tend use her as a much more easily controlled Tracer. I mean I'm not any good at it (just like with Tracer), but that's how I do it in mystery heroes brawl.

Tracer and Soldier are pure damage attackers while Sombra is more of a support attacker. You have to work with your team a lot more.

As with all the flankers, she's a finisher so roam the enemy back lines, harrass their medics and kill weaken enemies. That said, your team needs to be capable of dealing more than average damage to make up for Sombra's low DPS.

Good sombras: Hack Rein shields, uses her ult to counter Lucio's or start a teamfight, hacks healthpacks closer to the enemy, hack DVa mech so she cant self destruct.

The current meta is 2 of each class (attacker/tank/medic) or 3 tanks/2medics/1Soldier 76. In the latter meta, Sombra is at a disadvantage because her damage is too low to deal with 3 tanks.

Tldr: Is she worth playing in competitive? No, unless you have a premade team with enough practice to capitalize on Sombra's abilities. All is fair in QP.

Her damage isn't too low, it's that it's inconsistent. Her spread is ridiculous and even with god like tracking it's hard for her to secure a kill on full health characters.

She can pick off weakened enemies, or disable a flanking enemy, but it's hard for her to secure kills when they're surrounded. You're right she is incredibly team reliant.

There's only two things that I think they need to do to get her to be a viable pick. Reduce her spread and increase her teleport despawn timer.

Perhaps you and I have different definitions of flanker/flanking.

For clarification: Anyone can draw. Few are artists. Anyone can flank. Few heros are built as flankers. Hanzo, Junkrat, and Widow are not flankers.

When you play those heros, the goal isn't to go around the enemy team. They may flank to fullfill their role, but their role isn't a flanker. So using Sombra to counter them is useless because how often do you see a flanking Widow? And a successful one at that.

Someone asked how to use Sombra effectively, and to say she's an antiflanker isn't true. Sombra is an attacker with support capabilities meant to pick off weakened enemies and an ult to initiate a teamwipe.

If they flank, at the moment of flanking they are flankers. Just like Mercy going out guns a'blazin' and shooting people in the head is playing offensively, despite being primarily a support character. I wasn't trying to say their primary role is flanking, just that when they do flank, Sombra can deal with them.

And she's pretty meh at it currently, since pretty much any other offensive character can do it better than her, without relying on a team to play around them. Currently, her main utility (hunting down critically damaged enemies either by herself or by calling them out to teammates, initiating pushes, harassing supports) just doesn't work out all that well, unless you're playing in a group with 3 people or more. Barrier removing ult is powerful, but it requires your team cooperating and going in together, because Reinhardt without a shield still has his giant gravity defying hammer and his whole team behind his back.
Antiflanking is a reliable secondary utility that can be used in pretty much every situation where you have flankers to deal with, and it doesn't force you to go out of your way to cooperate with your team.

I feel like they need to either fix her damage output or survivability in order for her to become more efficient at flanking. Sure, Tracer's guns also have a gigantic spread, but she also has blinks that allow her to dance around the enemy, getting close enough so the spread doesn't matter, and a panic button that "heals".

I don't know how you can read anything other that honest intent to kill from widow without realizing you are just pushing headcanon into the situation. She clearly isn't actually one shot, one kill, since she failed to kill Winston while he was talking with two kids, and failed to do manage more than skimming Volskaya.

Winston is also a giant genetically engineered space gorilla, twice the size of a regular one, wearing titanium armor so killing him isnt as easy as killing a squishy. Regardless she was clearly shown hitting him, several times, so she was trying her best to put him down.

As of now I'd say Widowmaker treats Tracer like some kind of fun, intriguing distraction that's fun to have around and tease. That's clearly put out there and it's not hard to catch on going by literally every interaction they have (and Tracer is literally the only character Widow has any positive interactions with)

I didn't headcanon Widow getting close to Tracer and calling her a "sweet foolish girl" while she isn't shown to do anything of the sort anywhere else towards anyone else.
I didn't headcanon Widow having a perfect opportunity to finish Tracer off after their fight but leaving her be despite Tracer being one of the top agents of an organization her owners have always tried to destroy.
I didn't headcanon going into spawn room just to hear Widow teasing Tracer about them working together.

And yeah I'd say "i find this girl interesting" and "i feel the flames of burning desire towards this girl" are pretty different stances to have.
