I have no pictures to post that aren't reposts, but maybe you gals have some requests?

I may have some time to sketch stuff along the week.
>>
>>2211020
Something involving Yuria and Elfreide pleasing a female ashen one or just kissing each other. Like Yuria eating out the ashen one's puss while Freide rims her if you got for that.
>>
>>2211021
Ah, actually I expected something Bloodborne. Sorry, I should've specified.
>>
>>2211025
Well then you're in luck since I have something for it. Iosefka, the nice one or imposter who probably looks the same and the prostitute doing something cute and or lovingly. If the imposter I would maybe like to see her acting all child-like and trying to listen to the woman's baby bump and muttering about how rapturous the child will be. Or just something involving Maria and the prostitute.

I can see why everyone ships The Plain Doll and The Hunter. She's adorable I can't help but do that super formal bow while having my female hunter wear the knight set.

And I must admit I felt pretty badass demolishing Logarius with parries on my second try... but then getting grounded into the dirt immediately in Old Hunters. Might need to figure out my next move.
>>
>>2230541
I think you can do it
But only if you git gud first.
>>
>>2233496
Or I could grind through the chalice dungeons for gems.

I beat Ludwig on just a couple of tries. Can't wait to get the bowblade.

Also I can't help but ship my unkindled with every other female character. Firelink is like a lesbian harem as far as I'm concerned.

Thinking about it BB does really well by it's female characters, you've got badasses, prostitutes, crazy women, women in power all with sleek awesome designs and, even some great ones are characterized as female. Just wish for more yuri.
>>
>>2241741
Not really, she's about the size of the player.
>>
>>2241862
She's a good foot or so taller just like the Plain Doll.
>>
>>2241881
Really? It's kind of hard to tell while fighting her
>>
>>2241908
Most enemies are larger than the player so you can see them better, it also makes them more imposing.
>>
>>2241911
it also makes them sexier if they're your thing.
>>
>>2241908
If she performs her special visceral attack you can see how much taller she is. I know it can be a pain to gauge her size during her cutscene because she's sitting.

I also like how many assumed she was gay since it was originally thought she only used the whisper/kiss visceral on female characters.
>>
>>2241747
This. Of all the Soulborne games, Bloodborne probably have the most Yuri potential. If only there was at least one good lengthy BB fanfic.

Seeing how she's very tall, very pale, has blood powers and a connection to Cainhurst, I'm pretty sure she's implied to be a distant descendant of Pthumerians, like Cainhurst nobles are supposed to be iirc.
She lived long ago so the bloodline could've been purer and not as diluted as it is by Arianna's generation.
>>
>>2242318
You might be on to something Lady Maria does share their crippling weakness to parries. I kid I love Lady Maria of course.

>>2241747
I think Dark Souls 3 does a decent job when it's not trying to be the first Dark Souls.

Both Irina and Karla are shippable with a female Unkindled. Especially if you help Irina become a fire keeper and of course save Karla from her jailers/rapists.

Karla is an interesting example since she's a Child of Dark but a benevolent one like Aslanna.
>>
>>2241741
Maybe not canonically, but in the game, yeah, she's like 7-8 ft tall. The only reason she is that way though is cause they like to make humanoid bosses really tall so it can seem more "boss-like." They did the same thing with Ornstien, Artorias, Friede, etc even though those characters are probs just human sized.

This artist really digs the Fake/Real Iosefka romance. It's pretty fucked knowing what eventually happens but it's so incredibly romantic to think they had a thing going, however brief, on the night of the hunt before it all went downhill.

Can easily work too. Maybe there was actual love but the real Iosefka got herself infected or something and the fake tried to save her the only way she could.
>>
>>2254625
Just don't take any blood from Arianna.
>>
>>2254736
Too late but I already did a playthrough for fighting the Moon Presence now I'm working on platinum-ing the game just gotta get Yharnam Sunrise.

Anyway I like Adella next to The Doll and real Iosefka I'd pair her with a fem Hunter.
>>
>>2254736
>>2254799
You cant really save SAVE Adella anyway. Once the game progresses after a certain point, her interactions cease completely with or without the special event with Ariana.
>>
>>2255168
I meant in terms of finding her before the Blood Moon but I got her now. Everyone one I want alive is alive and now I just gotta get the Yharnam Sunrise ending to plat the game.

After I get outta this funk and draw some other stuff I'd like to try my hand at drawing some Bloodborne yuri with my bifauxen Hunter girl.

Not Bloodborne, but Dark Souls has one of my favorite yuri fics of all times.

It follows the game from female protag POV, and includes more-than-decent pacing and development.

So I read awhile back, can't remember where but I read Anri's character model doesn't change just the voice and pronouns npcs use when referring to Anri.

Not that it entirely matters since she's in that Elite Knight Armor but still an interesting bit of trivia.
>>
>>2264567

That ending was one of the most infuriating things I've ever read.

The author could have gone anywhere with it. Things started to look very bleak when there was still half of the last chapter left, but instead of turning it around, it was just suffering stacked on suffering until literally everything was awful forever. The characters do nothing about it, and just sit and suffer. It would have honestly been bitter if the author simply didn't write that last chapter at all, what the fuck.

Yes, I know it's Dark Souls, and that Dark Souls has a depressing, dark world, but that doesn't excuse writing a chapter of characters sitting around and doing nothing until the world ends. I feel betrayed, God damn it.
>>
>>2267952
Yeah. Dark Souls story at its core is about sacrifice, and selflessness, as shown by the Lords of Cinder. Would have been better if the fic wasn't so nihilistic.
>>
>>2267954

'Sacrifice' is debatable, but I certainly wouldn't say it's about 'selflessness'.

It's largely about struggle, though. The fun is trying to make your way through the terrible, damned world, and it goes against everything to just sit and do nothing. Like, the author could have been deliberately going against that, trying to make some kind of point, showing how awful it was to give up their struggle. There was no follow-through to actually sell that, though; they more or less just sat and died.
>>
What's everyone's favorite Soulsborne game? And least favorite?

I do love all of them, but i'm rather fond of 3, if only for its absolutely amazing atmosphere, and the lore.

While I consider it a great game, have to say 2 would be my least favorite
>>
>>2268079
My favourite Soulsborne game would actually be Boodborne just because I love the story of the game so much. And agreed 2 would be my least favourite... It's good but it's I like the others a bit more...
>>
>>2268079

I don't own any consoles, so I haven't gotten to try Bloodborne or Demon's Souls, but my favorite of the Dark Souls trilogy is absolutely the first one.

>No warping until you EARN the ability
>Interconnected levels and areas instead of mostly linear levels that have a beginning and end with occasional branching paths
>Determining which players could play against which other players solely based on SL had issues that could be abused, but it also allowed for great PvP zones and allowed you to design characters for invading or helping in certain kinds of areas
>Master key for subsequent playthroughs (SHAME ON YOU if you used it on your first) allowed a greater variety of routes to take and added more replayability

It has plenty of flaws, but it was a champion of what makes the Soulsborne genre/series so enjoyable.

My least favorite would probably be the third. Sure, it fixed a lot of the complaints of the second game, but not enough of them to make up for the myriad ways it was worse than the second game. No poise? No blue eye orb? No powerstance? Heavy attacks becoming charge moves you only use in particular situations instead of just being an alternate, heavier moveset? Spells (even though I hardly ever used spells in any of the games) being incredibly useless unless you stacked as many magic bonuses and multipliers as possible? It was far too many steps back.

In the meantime, I'm almost done with yet ANOTHER playthrough of the first Dark Souls, this time with the Aggression Mod and Gravelord phantoms. It's a fun time.
>>
>>2268170
>no poise
Poise was always a terrible mechanic.

It is nothing but a crutch for bad players and only enables R1 spam. Demon's Souls hyperarmor has always been the best, which admittedly Dark Souls 3 did not do well, but I'm glad that poise is gone.

I also say this as someone who played DS1 first out of them all.
>>
>>2268221

The lack of poise, in PvP, reduces combat to mostly who can R1 spam better, though. The one with the faster weapon has a huge advantage.

It also fucks with the PvE balance. Slow, hard-hitting weapons are a huge risk because even the lightest smack means you never get your swing in at all. Wearing armor with adequate poise was the price you had to pay to get rid of that risk, but that had the downside of increased weight. Now, there's no option to make heavier/slower weapons more viable at all; they're are ALWAYS at a disadvantage. Hyperarmor allows you to dedicate yourself to an attack, but at least in DS3, all attacks that use hyperarmor feel like they leave you vulnerable for about ten thousand years.

Dark Souls 2 had the best implementation of poise. It only really counted during your attacks; if someone managed to hit you before you began your swing, you'd get staggered pretty much no matter what. It was smart, it worked well, and there was no reason to get rid of it.
>>
>>2268459
It's what happens when a company comes to think pvpers are worth listening to in a pve game with a minor pvp attachment
>>
>>2268170
I disagree with some of this also Bloodborne is my favorite.

Magic while at its weakest ever can be utterly monstrous but it'll only shine on subsequent playthroughs. Hell the much derided Soul Stream is my go to spell to utterly DESTROY enemies.

It took awhile to get it but a lot of the finer points have been changed in how combat works. But yeah their efforts to take in the best of all the previous games resulted in Dark Souls 3's gameplay and story being an imperfect mesh.

Which is a pity because Dark Souls 3 had compelling storylines on its own in Pontiffs Shulyvhn and Lothric and the Angels. Which is why I'm glad The Ringed City is both a love letter to Dark Souls 2 with pieces of the Eathen Peak being explored along with the sexy Desert Sorceress armor returning but it will also be exploring the Angel plot thread. Presumably.

As fun as the original Dark Souls was it had elements that made me play it the least, not because it was hard but just because certain parts where such a slog to get through that it rendered parts of the game unfun. Namely the Four Kings boss fight and the Tomb of Giants there were a few others but those where the biggest.

In the case of both Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 I never felt any parts where a slog to get through.

Holy fuck. Even for Dark Souls that ending was intensely depressing. But so good.

Fuck I need to go imagine my character from the game reigniting the flame to give all her friends another fighting chance at life to make me feel better. I hope Benhart and Lucatiel made it out of Dragnleic. I don't think there were that many people left un-hollow at the end of the first Dark Souls, and everyone's quest I complete in Dark Souls 3 ends with their death. Dark Souls 3 definitely seems to go down to the wire in terms of getting the flame re lit.

Pic related kinda meh but at least on topic for the board
>>
>>2272075
I figured in Dark Souls 3 things are so bad that the only thing linking the Flame does is give every one a chance at a natural death.

After all you just collected embers not great souls.

Hell maybe ending the cycle by usurping the Flame or letting the Age of Dark naturally come might be better choices in the long run.

Or maybe ascension into an angel since even dragon transformation is a mixed bag.

For some reason i have the urge to do something i told myself i never would do. Write a fanfic. Maria/Female Hunter of course. I suck at writing and grammar tho.
>>
>>2273265
So do, instead of announcing you don't actually want to. I want to read it less now.
>>
>>2273268
Shit son u right. Im here bitxhing about it instead of writing. Only issue i have is i can only write on my phone. Anyone know any apps that would be suitible?
>>
>>2273273
A laptop.
>>
Well i finally started writing my story and as shitty as it is ive come across a problem. Originally my plan was a femHunter/Lady maria but as i keep writing i found that i dont know as much as id like to about Marias character and what i do know i sometimes have to change to fit my story. Im starting to think i should just replace Maria with another OC hunter.
>>
>>2275339
Maria doesn't have much known about her unless you're wildly changing her history
>>
>>2275340
My story is based before the whole fishing hamlet business and im making maria a more proud stoic badass hunter instead of IMO a disillusioned hunter.
Basically a story of her and an oc hunter teaming up killing beasts in the good old days before the huntwas as apocalyptic as it is in the present game time.
>>
>>2275342
Going by those events-considering how the hunter's nightmare plays events backwards it technically already happened before Maria got disillusioned. It would've been done around or before Gerhman became a prominent hunter and trained Maria.

Maria gets disillusioned because of the healing church and Bergen's further experimentation. Think like after Wilhelm and Lawrence are in their prime is when she appears. Gerhman is getting into the business of hunting probably around the time Ludwig does, though Maria picking it up was or-at least I'm theorizing- after she left Cainhurst and before she got more involved with the church. Technically during that time she was travelling/hunting alongside Gerhman. Ludwig probably became a rising star before she got more involved with the choir and thus the clocktower while leaving Gerhman's tutelage most likely because of the clocktower
>>
>>2275347
I think in the long run id be better just doing an OC/OC story with prominent characters making cameos. Would anyone want to read a story about lesbians in the Bloodborne universe even if the focus isnt on characters from Bloodborne tho?
>>
>>2275347
Slight correction; Gherman was around/has been hoontan since the fishing village. So he can at least be thrown in with Lawrence and Wilhelm time-wise despite probably keeping distance from them. Also Maria was probably before Luwdig in terms of prolific hunters.
>>
>>2275350
Sure depends on how serious/when it was. If it was during Ludwig's time that might make for an interesting one that fits with what you're looking for. Though that runs into the problem of most everyone would be oc then outside of say Maria, Ludwig, and possibly Yuria because of the time it takes place in and maybe the people in Cainhurst.
I'm probably not the best person to be speaking to since I have something of a kink for establishing timelines.
>>
>>2275356
I like established timelines aswell but this being my first story and all makes me think itd be better to start with OC instead of definate characters who i would have to mold the story around. Wouldnt have to deal with nightmare realm mumob jumbo just lesbo hoonters hoonting
>>
>>2275363
Well either way it might get involved, but I was just using the hunter's nightmare as a rough time line. You could always explain, for avoiding the nightmare stuff, that if it was during Ludwig's era or the transitional period from Maria to Ludwig that the death toll and blood entrenchment wasn't strong enough/deep enough to give lucidity or some such. Like the hoonters might wake up and do the respawn equivalent but there's no hunter's dream for them. They just wake up as if they were falling in a dream, or they sit up as if they broke out of a night terror.

Still merely suggestions, though I more firmly suggest if you're looking for a area to put them in have it be the end of Ludwig's era before the game starts. Would give you a good transitional state to include characters that don't require nightmare/dream shenanigans.

I did pln to get rid of the Hunters dream mechanic. It makes death kinda trivial.
>>
>>2275387
I'd argue against that and suggest playing up the curse aspect of it. Like dying too much pushes the Hunter closer to madness and devolving into a beast or being trapped into a Nightmare forever.

Just suggestions.
>>
>>2275418
Thats a good way of making the hunters dream into more than a get out of jail free card for death. Only issue is how do i make tense situations seriois if death means so little at least in the short run.
>>
>>2275460
It's still no fun to be; eaten alive, set on fire, electrocuted, driven mad until your brain hemorrhages, torn limb from limb. You get the idea play up the pain and horror.

I remember a while back Marvel had an event where we got to see a universe where The Many Angled Ones won and they created a universe without death. Life itself became an abomination. Just because death is diminished that doesn't mean there are no consequences.
>>
>>2275496
You gotta be creative even Dark Souls 1 has an interesting take.

How did Seathe deal with trapping an undead that could just keep coming back and teleport either with magic or bonfires?

He made a special jail that couldn't easily be ported out of and filled it with creatures he thought would be strong enough to keep killing the undead. Seemingly effectively trapping it.
>>
>>2275496
One thing i always wondered is how a new hunter is introduced to the hunters dream.
>>
>>2275852
Good question if I had to guess you'd need a special infusion the kind that started in Yharnam but spread to other lands and the Messengers might have to "choose" you.

Those seem to be the only two known links between all the Hunters. At least as far as I know.

My guess and is german uses his blade on youbwhen you're in the waking world to separate your consciousness from it and takes you to the dream. He can them use his blade within the dream to reverse the process. Only great hunters get this done to them tho. Its thr only thing i can think of to use in my story.

Well outside of player doing bypassing the death themselves, a hunter typically dies against a beast at the start of BB. After the transfusion. It's probably some combination of the transfusion and the death that gets them into the dream.

I think its hard not attempting to honor the sacrifices of the Lords before you, and making there eternal agony for nothing, when there was great guys like Yhorm and Ludleth, which is why I usually go with linking the fire.
>>2267968
>"See ye not? I am a lord... A wee flame, belike, but I shoulder the world... Forgive me. Oh please... I am not to blame. I'm not"
How can it not be about selflessness and self sacrifice when to be a Lord, you need to basically immolate yourself, and condemn ones self to eternal agony. The only example of a non-benevolent Lord of Cinder is Aldritch.

That's one view but I'm one to agree with Aldia. Especially after seeing the endless suffering that the cycle has wrought.

Even the Corvians of Ariandel reached a similar conclusion.
>>
>>2272075
>I hope Benhart and Lucatiel made it out of Dragnleic

Uh...

>>2275973
I never link it. The whole reason the world is shitty and everyone is always terrible is because people keep trying to extend something long past its prime. Which is particularly silly when you consider that the people who the fire benefits the most are already dead.

Besides, what a shitty duty of "seflessness and self sacrifice" to force on someone who has just unceasingly fought through entire armies and all the horrors of the land, dying over and over to do what almost everyone else isn't even bothering to try.

>Hey I know you just died again and again to bring those who were supposed to light the flame to their rightful place and to cleanse the land of all these terrible things but could you also go ahead and sacrifice yourself even harder to extend the age that benefits the gods even though all the gods are already dead.
>>
>>2276167
That's the point.
>>
Would it be possible that the Blades of Mercy weapons be given to hunters who don't hoont hoonters? Like making replicas not made of soderite.
>>
>>2276260
It could be possible for Blades of Mercy to end up in other Hunter's hands a variety of ways.

I first got them on my first play through because I failed to protect Eileen.

That said if they weren't made of the magnetic arcane metal I'd imagine they'd be less effective.
>>
>>2276273
In my story i have a amateur hunter as my lead but i want her to use the BoM i cant exactly make her into crow hunter tho. So my ides is that the workshop could offer BoM replicas to hunters but soderitr ones are only available to crow hunters.
>>
>>2276167
I never finished their questlines but it didn't seem like they actually died at any point, unlike almost every one of your friends/allies you help in Dark Souls 3
>>
>>2276304
Benhart gives you his gear but I think he just chills in a memory otherwise.

Lucatiel retains her sanity and gives you her gear but disappears. According to Dark Souls 3 the Bearer of the Curse kept their promise to always remember her. Other than that Lucatiel's final fate is unknown.
>>
>>2276325
>. According to Dark Souls 3 the Bearer of the Curse kept their promise to always remember her.

Where does it say that? Her armor?

I guess she's something nice to think about while you're on fire for a thousand years or so
>>
>>2276437
Her mask which you find separate from her armor.

Her armor is referred to as Mirrah Armor but the Mask is referred to as Lucetiel's Mask.

And it makes a point of saying how "this gentlemen's mask bears the name of a woman".
>>
>>2276469
Here's the official description from the wiki.

Mask attached to a ceremonial hat.

A Hollow once fought valiantly with this mask, but feared the fading of her self, and implored a comrade remember her name.

Perhaps that is why this gentleman's mask is named after a woman.

>Lucatiel retains her sanity
>Other than that Lucatiel's final fate is unknown.

That's a pretty optimistic read of it based on one potential end of her quest. (doing all the fights she can do)

If you do the other end (not taking her through all the fights) she still ends up at Aldia's but her memory is degrading so much that it takes her a moment to even recognize you and even then she seems completely out of it. The reason that she asks for you to remember her name is because her mind is so far gone that she is afraid she won't remember it herself.

The item in DS3 suggests that this is the canon end, because it mentions her being afraid of losing herself and asking you to remember. The fact that it also says "A hollow once fought valiantly with this mask" rather than "An undead once fought valiantly with this mask" suggests that ultimately, she fell to hollowing.
>>
>>2277390
That pic is adorable I'm tempted to draw the painter x my Irithilyian Sorceress now.

As for Lucetiel I do think in some instances being referred to as a hollow might just be interchangeable with undead but yeah I'm trying to optimistic with Lucatiel she's one of the few characters I latched on to in Dark Souls 3.

It felt like we were adventuring together at times.

Dragons Dogma? But if you get that get the Dark Arisen version since it introduces an item that better controls who you end up with since it can be pretty random if you don't know what you're doing.

It like Dark Souls is a dark fantasy inspired by Beserk... like every medieval fantasy game from Japan but unlike Dark Souls, Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen is much more heavily reliant on stats.

There are equivalents to various Beserk girls too minus the extreme horror though or thankfully depending on your view.

Ser Mercedes is basically Casca but minus any semblance of competence.

Selene is Shierke without any apparent magic.

AndLady Aelinore is basically Princess Charlotte.

And yes any of them is a potential "Beloved" for the Arisen. But like I said if you're interested get Dark Arisen since it's easier to manage NPC affinity.

Sulivahn(or whatever) suffered from the Soul series trademarked vagueness. Unless you actually did around a bit, he is just another big monster, not even a cutscene like O&S or Queleg.
>>
>>2278782
You don't have to dig around too much since a lot of the enemies in DS3 and all lot of the horrible stuff in DS3 can most likely be traced to him.

But you hit my point they didn't capitalize on his importance which is a genuine pity.

For example as much as I hated Smough I'd love more info on Smough's last stand against Sulhyvahn.

I'd also like some more knightly/damsel interactions with Yorshka so I'd have another girl to add to my /u/ harem. But I know that's just wishful thinking.
>>
>>2278782
Bullshit. The pontiff is the most detailed Souls baddie. Almost the entire first half of the game, and tons of bosses, and mini bosses can be traced back to the fucker. Him and Aldirtch are probably the only baddies in the series that make my blood boil. Fucking monsters.
>>
>>2278782
>>2278825
Gonna have to agree, if anything the game was weirdly centered around him to the point that even the lords were fairly unimportant in comparison.
Hell, the DLC is you going to homeland.

The only thing you really need to dig for are the suggestions that he might be the first scholar of the grand archives, and thus the reason for prince Lothric's disinterest in the flame.

>>2277598

>>
>>2278805
Smough went up against Sulyvahn? That must have been one hell of a fight

>>2278825
Seethe and Duke Tseldora are pretty fucked, though Tseldora isn't quite on their levels

>>2279074
The lords weren't really antagonists, they just never heeded the call again for various reasons (I can see "lol did it once, fuck that" being a valid reason to not want to set yourself on fire for a thousand years again, though)
>>
>>2279401
Smough great hammer reveals he was the last Knight at his post guarding the besieged cathedral, and likely died in a last stand against Aldritch. Which is fucking badass.

Duke Tseldora just liked Spiders if I recall, until he discovered a nest of them.

Most of the Lords of Cinder are pretty heroic, though Yhorm is the only one that stands out to me as a genuinely good guy, and one of the only competent monarchs in the series. Though his friendship with Siegward strikes me as really odd.
>>
>>2279404
>Lothric
>heroic
Lorian's heroic, Lothric's a scrub. The bit about Smough is even more endearing considering all he wanted in life was to be a knight.
>>
>>2279410
Yeah, and the item description specifically calls him a Knight, so its cool he finally accomplished it.

Shame what happened to Gywndalion though. As much of an asshole he was, he didn't deserve it, and died saving his little sister.
>>
>>2279410
While I wouldn't call Lothric heroic I'd still call him sympathetic.

>>2279074
I'd like to think it was Aldia who persuaded Lothric against the Flame... if only because I'd like to link some of DS2 to DS3. I know there's some stuff in 3 and The Ringed City is adding more but sometimes it feels like everyone, including the loreists are eager to ignore DS2.
>>
>>2279437
But if I ignore DS2, how can I enjoy my headcanon Sinner x Baneful Queen?

I actually enjoyed 2's take on relation to the rest of the series. I thought it was a more realistic depiction of the passage of time in a world without the benefits of museums and widely circulated information. Bits of the first game were there, the four great souls, the dragonslayer, but all of it was so old that only echoes were left.

It felt like the world had moved on, which was nice because why wouldn't it have?
>>
>>2279437
Oh definitely, Lothric is sympathetic however him being a Lord of Cinder and heroic isn't the same. Lorian's the heroic one. Everything surrounding Lothric paints him to be heroic but he, himself, isn't heroic.
>>
>>2279484
Lorian is probably the most pathetic person in 3. All the characters whether wrong or right, fight for what they believe in. Yhorm lead his armies in the front lines, acting as a one man vanguard to protect his people. The Abyss watchers sacrificed everything to fight a futile, and neverending war against the Abyss because it was the right thing to do.

Lothric? Hides behind his brother, and lets him take the full fury of the flame, and then, still sane (unlike Yhorm, whose mad with grief, and the Abyss Watcher, whom are consumed by the abyss) hides behind his castle walls and sulks in his room like a teenager. Truly pathetic, and an insult to the title of Lord of Cinder. Even more so then Aldritch. No sympathy for me.
>>
>>2279490
His brother stepped in to take the brunt of the Flame because Lothric was too physically weak something he was born with.

Lothric wasn't given anything other than his robes and was told from birth that all he was meant to be was a sacrifice. Lorain was the only person to show him any affection and not being a Lord of Cinder was probably the only choice Lothric ever made for himself.
>>
>>2279492
I want to agree with you but then I remember how much worse off the player character is in any souls game and I have to agree with other anon, he's a little bitch.

Also, DS3 would have been a much better game if they were twin princesses.
>>
>>2279495
Still made about the whole Arni thing (switching the gender is bullshit) but the Ashen One and the Firekeeper are extremely shippable. That and the adorable cleric girl.
>>
>>2279495
If nothing else I agree id love to see some rule 63 of the twins.

Too much on my plate to try it myself tho.
>>
>>2279499
If it makes you feel any better I'm pretty sure the only thing that changes in terms of files is Anri's voice.

I think they actually just keep the same female elite knight model regardless of the Ashen One's gender.

I remember reading the changes occur by giving Anri a unique ring that flips gender voice and animations. And that it would've been available to the player and been associated with Gwyndolin.
>>
>>2279508
>And that it would've been available to the player and been associated with Gwyndolin.
Pretty sure that made it in. Giving it to Anri though isn't.
>>
>>2279515
I didn't mean to imply you give it to Anri but if you play as a female Ashen One then it is already added to Anri's equipment this make the still female Anri sound male.
>>
>>2279499
PC / important female NPC has been a fantastic ship in every soulsborne game but DKS 1.
>>
>>2279522
Oh. Then yeah. Now if only Anri's voice-tied to it so modders could just remove the ring on female ashen ones.
>>
>>2279523
Huh? There's Rhea (When Petrus kills her, he'll say lewd stuff like the player being able to do what they want with her corpse, and how your mad with grief. Also the line about being together with her in the infernal depths.) And the Pale Lady, who is a really good lady and knight dynamic.

Storywise, who does everyone think are the most noble, and selfless souls characters? I've seen this debated alot.

In my opinion, in no specific order its, Yhorm, Artorias, Gherman, The Ivory King, and maybe Ludleth.
>>
>>2279529
The Pale Lady is right up there with Yhorm and The Ivory King, she gave of herself until she died.

I'd also venture to say Alsanna, she may have started out evil but essentially sacrificing yourself to keep the last surge of Chaos at bay is pretty noble.

Just imagine how much worse DS3's setting would be if it wasn't for her.
>>
>>2279529
Both hea and the Pale Lady are too optional and unimportant in comparison to the other main hub chicks of soulsborne games

So like The Ashen One and The Painter? I fully expect that to be The Ashen One's role since I suspect Gael will be subsumed by The Soul of Dark and become something akin to Manus or The Soul of Cinder.

Marlee isn't too bad on the bridge. Use a shield with high stability and fire resistance block the fire, stay close to his left claw wait for laser, gently move around his claw avoiding the laser. With this you just gotta avoid the swipes and berserk attack.

I play as a caster so I'm especially squishy. But with certain weapons I can hold my own in melee against bosses.

Speaking of casters I love throwing down exploding lava rocks, the Lightning Arrow. Although Old Moonlight raises some interesting questions but I've yet to get the timing right.

>>2304855
>But how would that high school AU actually work? Straight-up wacky hijinks with actual school stuff, or something creepier and closer to the tone of the game?
Yes.
>>
>>2304855
>Straight-up wacky hijinks with actual school stuff, or something creepier and closer to the tone of the game?
Both, though the creepy is more of an underlying tone. Like someone being called to the principal's office and disappearing from existence while only the MC wonders about it on the odd occasion. Or going down to the boiler room and finding the janitor in a stained wedding dress.
>>
>>2304859
Difficult, but I think it would be achievable. Would be very difficult to balance this without it developing into a deeper, more dramatic story.
>>
>>2304864
I think a large part of that could be, how do the aliums/nightmares get involved? The principal could very well be Gherman and the disappearing could be the morning sun ending. Going off that, the creepy could be somewhat achieved through reference because obviously the school's choir is just...off. Something about them isn't right to the MC but they can never place it, though they seem to favor awfully short people.
A boarding school would also help considering the size it could be then and the continued notion that the MC can't easily leave. Cainhurst could even be apart of the boarding school village. Though it'd be more like Cainhurst Estate while Yharnam could be the school.
>>
>>2304867
A lot of the creepy atmosphere could come across in a non-linear time structure, with the MC having dreams, waking up in the middle of doing other things, and the general sense of everything being connected in time and space but not in a human-comprehensible way.

Could use some version of the Hunter's Dream in order to anchor this non-linear structure.
>>
>>2304875
So FemHunter wakes up going to class in the middle of the night or other stuff? Occasionally the reader gets a glimpse into why MC is doing stuff and why they're seen going into the old clock tower that's off-limits as well as coming back complaining about the sea(despite the school being landlocked), sunflowers, and unruly patients. Gets oddly curious about the previous deans of the school. Specifically dean Ludwig, who supposedly became a recluse after a scandal. Then dean Maria, said to reside within the clock tower before the school's renovations moved it the dean's office into the school itself. The less said about the founders and dean Lawrence the better. Let's not forget the uneasy feeling that Dean Amelie gives the students despite being perhaps the best dean because of her compassion and soft nature. Or MC finding herself curious about Bergenwyth and getting strange looks from the librarian when asking about it. Leading to MC coming too in the middle of the night, again, in the library with books about said place and it's history.

At the very least translating the setting to a boarding school is interesting.
>>
>>2304892
Pretty sure Maria is supposed to be the Doll's twin in the hypothetical highschool AU, so making her the dean doesn't really work out.
>>
>>2304911
Good point, then dean Bri would be the clocktower dean considering what went on during that time probably led to the choir. Unless, somehow, they found Ebrietas later which is probably unlikely.
>>
>>2304855

Let it rest. Few devsw can say they brought an entire series of great to amazing games to the world.

>>
>>2309999
>D3 was a perfect conclusion to Dark Souls
What does Diablo have to do with Dark Souls?

>Few devs can say they brought an entire series of great to amazing games to the world.

Kind of overrated honestly. They are fun games but lets be honest, they've been pretty much the same game since Demon Souls, with increasing Quality of Life and (sometimes) better fights. The story for the games is half-assed and put on the player most of the time (there's really nothing impressive about writing a story with a bunch of holes in it and then putting the story in vague text on a bunch of items and NPC dialogues), the setting is fairly generic outside of BB, the character nearly all suffer from lack of characterization. The Art direction is great, particularly DS2 and beyond, but it's also just a natural evolution of better graphics use from game to game.

It's a copy and paste series, there's no dignity to protect, they might as well paste some more, or stop being shitlords and port BB.
>>
>>2310015
I disagree vehemently with this the story is very much there.

Beginning grey, flame appears gods find souls and power in Flame wage against dragons for dominion. Humans find Dark Soul help out gods and Gwyn thanks them by cursing them with the darksign in an effort to keep them pesky humans and The Dark in check. Gwyn messing with the natural order is basically why things happen.

Most characters are fleshed even the bosses have their own stories from Queelag trying to keep her sister alive even resorting to luring undead into her web to do so. To The Children of Dark and what is essentially a struggle to escape their Father's shadow whether they're aware of it or not.

Arguably the one game with incoherent or poorly conveyed story is Dark Souls 2 and outside of the Children Of Dark few characters were compelling. I say that as someone who has put more hours so far into Dark Souls 2 than 3 or 1.

That isn't to say that the other games aren't without their flaws from certain areas and bosses in the first game being all over the place in terms of pacing and "difficulty" (read needed patience) to Dark Souls 3 reliance on the first game depriving most of it of its own identity.

As for piecing the lore and story together? Dark Souls arguably does it better than many other rpgs than have done similar things with placing the player into the middle of a story and giving them a codex like The Lightning Trilogy and Xenosaga Trilogy to series I adore and will defend despite their glaring flaws.

There's a reason that years later fans are still discussing and taking apart the lore of Dark Souls.
>>
>>2310015
The Souls series has the kind of storytelling I've wanted in video games my whole life, so each to their own, sister.
>>
>>2310046
I didn't say the story isn't there, but there isn't much of it and what is there is not very good.

You could write the entirety of Dark Soul's story in a few pages. It's just filled with holes and then scattered around so it has to be "found". That doesn't make it well written.

Like I said, it relies on the players doing most of the storytelling work. It isn't continually discussed because it's good, particularly innovative, or engaging, it's continually discussed because things are so ill-defined half the time that you can endlessly debate fan theories about story elements that were never even actually written out or decided on to begin with, and will never be validated so there is no end to discussing them. Most characters aren't "fleshed out" they have a set of simple events they took part in, and those that are, like Sulyvahn, are an extreme rarity (and even he isn't fleshed out so much as constantly referenced everywhere).

"Queelag fled from the bed with her sister and is killing undead to help keep her alive" is not fleshed out. That is exactly my point. 90% of all characters in souls games can be accurately and thoroughly described in a sentence or two. Their story is extremely minimal, it is just stretched out across various items and tidbits in such a way as to give the illusion of depth, when really there isn't any at all.

It's a cheap gimmick where all the writing team has to do is toss a few lines connecting person X to person Y or event Z, and the community extrapolates an intricate and believable story for them.

Look at a boss like Pinwheel. A boss who drops the rite of kindling, and "stole the power of the gravelord". That is shitty writing. Rather than actually flesh out a character or give it any depth, they gave his items a vague connection to Nito. What power? Why? How? When? No need to actually think about it when your playerbase will theorize and write for you.
>>
>>2310080
You're a fucking idiot. There's a reason why people are still debating characters like Gywn, and Kaathe after all these years.
>>
>>2310255
>There's a reason why people are still debating characters like Gywn, and Kaathe after all these years.

>It isn't continually discussed because it's good, particularly innovative, or engaging, it's continually discussed because things are so ill-defined half the time that you can endlessly debate fan theories about story elements that were never even actually written out or decided on to begin with

Please go ahead and enlighten me with all that deep, well-written depth to Kaathe. You know... besides his one dialogue about the pygmy (in which he tells you nothing about himself) and a few off-hand comments about a serpent telling people the dark is good.

Oh wait, there's no need. I just just gave a thorough explanation of his entire character, because like most souls characters he doesn't actually have any depth or real story beyond "I exist and here's a tidbit about a thing that happened a long time ago." But no, you're right. He's debated because he's so well written and story elements in the series are so masterfully woven.

But surely Gwyn, the greatest of the lore's characters, the one at the center of it all, is a much better example of the high quality and depth of Souls story telling. The man who found one of the great souls in the flame. Who fought against the dragons that used to rule the world and won. Who exiled his son for siding with the dragons, who split his mighty soul so that his followers could each have a fragment, who sacrificed himself to rekindle the fading flame.

Oh, look at that. We've also now completely covered his entire character too.

>Dark Souls is in some ways an incomplete game, and I like to think that it has been completed by players, by their discoveries, as they moved along. I’d love to say that the nature of this incompleteness was completely deliberate, but it is both deliberate and by accident, in different ways.

Flawless writing, 10/10.

>>
>>2310666
The way what story is told, Satan?

>Pinwheel, the necromancer who stole the power of the Gravelord, and reigns over the Catacombs.
This is all of Pinwheel's writing in the entire game.

The entirety of the story of a character who apparently deposed Nito, one of the most powerful and important characters in the first game's lore, is one line saying that he stole power and controls the catacombs.

That is bad writing. That is deviantart fanfiction tier, "and then he used his dark power to take control of the government".

>That is bad writing.

No it is not. The game simply does not explain all the details which is a good thing. Too many stories get totally ruined because all the mysteries get explained.
>>
>>2310771
I am a great fan of the series, I'm just not so blind or consumed by fanboy squealing so as to not see that the games lack a decent amount quality writing. If anyone is salty in this thread, it is you. Please come back when you've calmed down.

>>2310836
There's a difference between explaining all the mysterious and leaving the vast majority of your story unwritten. Not to mention that there is a time and place for leaving plot elements unresolved.

Pinwheel isn't a curious mystery,he's a giant question mark and him overpowering and stealing power from one of the four primal, powerful characters of the first game is not something you should leave so completely unaddressed.

It would be one thing if no one was quite sure where Pinwheel came from, or if no one was quite sure how he stole the power from Nito; but when no one knows (or can ever find out) who he is, or where he came from, or what his goals or motivations are, or how he stole the power from Nito, or what the power is, or anything else about him, what you have isn't a plotpoint left unresolved for the sake of mystery, it's a plotpoint never developed to begin with.

ill give you that how he stole power from nito or where he came from isn't explained, but his story seems straightforward as to what the creators wanted us to infer about him. i'm sure you've seen the vaati video but the main points of evidence are there are many copies of him, alot of books presumably for reasearch, and the fact that he stole some power from the gravelord for some reason. He also wears three masks that move independently of each other suggesting there are 3 people.

i wouldn't call it farfetched to assume he stole power to bring back his wife and child and something went wrong and now he's trying to split them so they can be a regular family
