Normally I'm willing to accept my /u/ shipping as just that, shipping. Sure there's context and subtext and all of that but I'm willing to accept we may just end up with the "really good friendship" or at best super ambiguous state of the relationship of two characters.

"Non-canon" consists of 2 radically different groups: the first is goggled yuri (seeing things that aren't there), the second is creator-intended-subtext. Just a reminder example: Korrasami is actually subtext within the show itself, but as you can see, it was later confirmed canon by the creators. Without that confirmation though, Korrasami is still real. It's intentional subtext. Many shounen manga pull this subtext shit with the male MC and the obvious love interest. If it didn't bother hetfags, then subtext yuri shouldn't bother us either.

In other words, no matter how subtle Papika/Cocona will be, we already got the confirmation that it's intentional. It's canon.

I just want to add that rabbits are fertility symbols, and having your pet bunny unexpectedly show up at school, and then running all over desperately trying to hide it (despite it not really being that big of a deal, it's just a pet), feeling ashamed, trying to flee into the washroom, and all the while being doubled over and chased by a red-headed puberty allegory that she can't escape from, it like the most blatant menstrual metaphor you could make.

Episode 2 was mainly about her being on her period, probably for the first time. The PI metaphor should have been obviously, especially with Cocona being in the belly of a vacuum cleaner when her little pubertyfairy clicks the ON switch and she's suddenly cast into a whirlwind that also happens to include a white and pink polka dot-patterned wine bottle spewing viscous red liquid

You know, it just occurred to me that a horror story about something overcoming girls at a all girls boarding school and the only ones immune are the ones who are having sex, might sell.

Without spoiling anything, I would strongly recommend against Rule of Rose if you're looking for yuri. It is a very interesting cult game, but firmly a psychological horror experience.

If you are a person who likes niche horror games and can deal with their problems (bad controls, tedious inventory puzzles, awful combat, etc...) then it is absolutely worth hunting down. It's a weird, haunting game filled with extremely disturbing stuff that was even banned in the UK! But if you are a yuri fan who is curious about the game because you heard it had lesbian content... you will not get what you wanted. Trust me.

I just watched the new episode and somehow this show just keeps topping itself every week. Best episode so far.

Lots of creepy shit, and if they didn't kind of play it for laughs in the beginning (Cocona's and Papika's reactions mostly) the entire episode would've been as unsettling as that part where the fucking things capture them the first time.

Also, this isn't spoken about much here or on /a/, but the sound design and sound direction of FliFla are fantastic.

I would, however, argue that the fact that despite this setting the two did advance their relationship (started sleeping in different beds, ended sleeping in the same bed, Cocona got less embarrassed by the finger licking) that there is something to be said about it. How intimate would they have got if they stayed in the loop? Boarding school yuri includes stuff like Escalation, StoPani, Shoujo Sect, Flowers, Shojokyuu, Sapphism no Gensou. It can go pretty far.

That scene looks seriously like they are about to kiss. In any serious romance that's what should have happened. But instead they break it off with a silly giggle that looks pretty out of place.

I'm pretty sure that's how the pattern would have played out until they became scribble-eyed zombies.

There are a couple of scenes in Marimite and Hibike which go exactly that way. Where a kiss that should have happened turns in to a platonic hug or is shoved off-screen so you can't say for certain what happened. And then the show resets the relationship and pretends that that moment never existed.
