I'm not sure we can include homolust in that at this moment, but Cocona repressing herself is a very up-front part of her character so far.

We've seen it in every episode so far - especially the second, when she thinks about how much fun she had in PURE ILLUSION but fights back and tells Papika that she doesn't want to play any more. She does that a lot - a lot of pauses and controlling her emotions.

Similarly, Papika does not take any time to think or restrain herself at all, and this - as Cocona herself says - puts them into danger.

The girls covering their weaknesses by learning from one another is absolutely what the show is going for - whether PURE ILLUSION is an extension of that has yet to be seen.

Damn it, I wasn't wanting this to be mahou shoujo. I liked the action, but enjoyed that it wasn't super duper action-focused. This all just seems like bad news.

And Japan, just because your characters are female does not mean you have to staple heels to them. I'm sick of this shit. Papika's desert outfit looked better by far, and didn't have Goddamn heels.

An observant anon noticed that she was named Welwitschia in the credits.
So she is a dyad. A desert plant that turned humanoid after somehow obtaining a crystal fragment.
Although that doesn't explain why a dyad would want a S&M harem, though the headwraps on the gimps look like Welwitschia seed pods.
With the way this director seems to run, he might have just saw the plant in a photograph and thought "those pods look like human heads in bondage gear" and went with it.

I didn't care about the boyfriends line, raised an eyebrow when the main character was groped by her father, and then dropped it once I saw the ED. It played up the daughterxfather really hard, I don't even remember seeing the other girl in the ED, it was at least 95% the main character and her dad and was fucking weird. Also got some Day Break Illusion vibes from it and fuck that.

If it ends up being good I might watch it but sure as fuck not watching it while it is airing.

My issue isn't with the FeMC - most of the shows I watch in general have female MCs.

My issue is with continuing, and thus, tarnishing, the perfect conclusiveness and singular 6 episode nature of FLCL. It's a show that was important to me growing up, and offered a very different message every time I watched it. It's got a perfect beginning, middle, and end, enough closure to matter and enough open-ness at the end to offer so much potential for the viewer.

Adding anything onto it - anything at all - is heretical and uncalled for.
